    I appreciate this conversation so much. I started a keto lifestyle in March 2020 and lost all of the weight I couldn't get rid of trying any other plan. It was magic for me. I am now a carnivore and loving it. Carnivore eliminates belly bloat and is slowly eliminating the very last vestiges of belly fat. I have the energy to enjoy classes at my private gym and my functional mobility improves weekly. I lost sugar cravings and I don't snack between meals. Grocery shopping is a breeze. I'm on no meds, no diabetes, no high BP, no chronic health issues. I've noted with some dismay how commercial some of my formerly-favorite YT keto/carnivore experts and advocates have become. Now I pay more attention to medical researchers who can explain the science of nutrition. I just turned 70 and my nutrition goal is to stay healthy and functionally fit so I can play with the wee ones in my clan, travel comfortably with friends, and stay vital for my remaining years.

      Question 🙋‍♀️
      I’ve started keto but kind of hitting a snag..
      I wonder 💭 if it’s the seasonings 🧂 I’m using on meat 🍖 🍳
      Perhaps hidden sugars in seasonings?

    Make no mistake, energy production is at the cellular level and professor Bart understands this. keep listening to him. I used to think that I had to eat to get energy and many if not most people also automatically believe this Instinctively. But it's incorrect. Unless you are nutritionally depleted significantly you will always have your liver that can make glucose and fat stores to burn for energy. Something is not working right in your bio-chemistry /physiology if you are not alert and energetic throughout the day. All the various hormones, internal organ functions, sleep quality all function synergistically and are interdependent..... keep seeking truth, thx Judy

    I dont get what people say about energy dip during the day, and hormone issues by eating meat or carnivorous way. I am a 48 years old female and my cognitive function/ energy level is well maintained from 9am to 11pm, and my menstrual cycle is working like clockwork. I can't care less about the theory of having more carbs the week before period to " regulate" my female hormones. I am always feeling warm, my cold tolerance has never been better ( i used to feel cold and weak, sick all the times eating vegetarian, and later on, keto low protein diets). Now on 1g/ pound body weight protein, animal based diet, I am feeling healthier than ever before.

    • @marynguyen6417
      @marynguyen6417 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I agree. If carb and fat are treated as energy sources, then why would a fat adapted body suddenly decides that it desperately needs carbs to have a signal of adequate energy supplied, therefore maintain its thyroid functions? This is nonsense, sufficient fat intake should equally if not more effectively maintain optimum hormone functions, in my opinion.

    I want to know Barts views on what he calls the incidental exercise.
    When I've had long layoffs from any kind of exercise, what got me going again was walking!
    Specifically after a 10 year transformation into a couch potato, my car needed fixing and it was a 3 mile uphill walk to the mechanics.
    I dropped the car off and walked home.. Later that day I walked back and picked it up. After this I felt like jogging and soon after that I got back into martial arts and boxing!
    This didn't just happen once. It happened twice many years apart!
    Moving causes the creation of mitochondria which in turn gives us more energy which makes us feel like moving!
    This is a major part missing from Barts recommendation! I guess he is talking about LISS being a waste of time for high level athletes. Of course! But for couch potatoes, an amount of LISS or even walking is absolutely required! We all used to do this as hunter gatherers (or housework which is bloody hard work especially the likes of hand washing clothes!!).
    There is a 100% benefit to doing LISS up to a certain level of exertion that then adding HIIT to would be good for most people, but Bart dismisses this completely!
    Would Bart agree that the equivalent of a minimum of say 7,000-10,000 steps a day would be a good minimum incidental exercise to aim for every day to then add exercise to???

    • @paradoxical5604
      @paradoxical5604 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, and he contradicts himself a couple of times about incidental exercise. First, he says don't do it, then he says it's okay 3 - 4 times a week, then he says don't do it.

    Hi I'm new to the carnivore diet ! I started in an animal based diet but in about two weeks I didn't have any craving or didn't enjoy cheese and milk anymore only butter. It was quite rough for me the first days on a carnivore diet but now I'm perfectly adapted to it and I'm about 2 weeks and half in. Now I'm eating only butter beef tallow meats and eggs and I feel great ! I did this extreme change in my diet because I noticed that vegetables and fruits gave me chronic stomach inflammation and I felt terrible having a big belly 😂 but now I don't have that so I'm much better !

      @@EsseQuamVideriSe7en Oh yes you absolutely CAN bulk up with muscle on the carnivore diet! VERY much so! But if you start adding in carbs & sugars to the equation you're just poisoning the formula.
      As Bart says, it can take 6 months to finally get your metabolism FULLY carnivore adapted, but once you have, you can just dial up how much muscle you want!
      The trouble is people are impatient & weak, & find it hard to resist sugars & carbs. I eat nothing sweet, only meat, but use onion & garlic for flavour. I eat ZERO fruit. FRUIT is the WORST thing to eat if you're serious about the carnivore diet.
      I eat zero grains & oils. Only butter, tallow, & lard. I eat nothing with flour. No bread. No rice, pasta, cereal, potato, or any other vegetables. No nuts or seeds.
      I lie; I throw a can of peeled tomatoes which I have removed the seeds into my mince sometimes. But that's IT. I put cream & milk in my coffee with a bit of stevia, but I think I will give up coffee soon as well, & only drink water after that.
      I use plenty of salt, & beef stock instead of salt often, & oh yeah I eat plenty of eggs!
      I snack on salami & tasty cheese if I get the 'munchies', NEVER anything sweet.
      Wait, did I misunderstand what you meant by 'bulk'? Did you mean 'fat'? I've lost 20 kg since starting the CD!

    Have been mostly carnivore for well over 13 years,, find it simply wrong for Bart to comment on going carnivore and avoiding any carbs/fruit when he himself can't do it for longer than 30 days. I myself have to be careful with how much meat I eat and hence uric acid buildup and most recently my first and only gout attack,, which I solved almost immediately by using citrus juice and yogurt in between meat meals. There's too much to learn still for Bart to be so absolutely sure of himself. Again, he needs to speak from years of experience and not just one 30 day trial period.

      @@NutritionwithJudy yes, did lots of liver for years most days and testicles, which are even higher than liver,,,,, learned this from your podcasts with the two guys warning about liver etc.. thanks. I did find that any organ meats increase the uric acid. I do think though that Paul is on to something with keeping a more neutral ph. I monitor my uric acid levels in urine. and with a bit of citris and yogurt, my urine is totally neutral. A simple thing to do is to collect it and see what sediments collect.
      With Bart, I just think he speaks too authoritatively as though he has the experience to back it up.. and what is funny is that even he says over and over again, that there is no real science when it comes to carnivore.

    • @van123446
      @van123446 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @croaker Croaker, if it's one thing I have learned from eating carnivore for many years is that we believe what we want to believe to support our current dietary choices,, especially for those who strive for the 'perfect' diet. Yes, there is no perfect diet, but there are many who are looking to find the perfect diet for themselves,, for various reasons I won't go into now.
      So, if you choose to believe Bart's gospel, go ahead,, but he has shown me enough times that he detours often. Where those detours take him, well, we only know of those which he confesses.
      Our paleo ancestors, if they chose not to eat wild berries, and other seasonal fruits and honey,, DID hunt many hours a day, slept on the ground, breathed the purest air, drank the purest water, and lived a life so connected to the earth that we can only imagine... The hunting alone was a form of vigorous exercise that few if any of us today come close to matching. That physical stress and absence of convenient stores dictated what they had to eat to survive. Hardly our case, including Bart's.
      So again, there are no carnivore studies for us who live in this world today. And there's no evidence that any of us will be healthy long term on a strict carnivore diet without any carbs. And please don't point to the family that only lives on Rib eyes for over twenty years now. Another opportunity to believe what you want to believe.
      I'll probably read your response, if you choose to, but most likely won't enumerate further on this subject.

    • @van123446
      @van123446 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @croaker good response. Seems like we both agree there is not sufficient knowledge yet to draw concrete assertions. I agree, Paul changes with the wind and appears to fall into the trap of belief also.
      I Still hold onto my point, Bart simply does not have either the evidence, historical, or Personal, to make such all encompassing statements, especially to be so condescending.
      One note on the Inuit. And it depends somewhat on what groups one is speaking about,, coastal hunters or inland hunters, and or ones that migrated seasonally to where the food/herds were. They ate the inner contents of stomach material of both fish and animal. Thus including greater diversity in gut flora than by just eating meat... Their foodstuffs are also some of the most mineral rich foods in the world, again pointing here to the blood balancing of how ever one wants to call it... And yes, they may have kicked themselves out of ketosis every year for those few months when they hoarded berries and did like bears do to put on fat.
      Most of us have damaged bodies, i.e. insulin sensitivity etc. And who really knows how much of that damage is repairable, and thus how a diet may change for the better as that damage is healed.
      Just lot's to learn before we claim to know it all Bart.
