Diameter of line DOES NOT help abrasion resistance ! If the line is woven in the way these 3 brands weave the line it will fray and be easier to cut off on rock snags . This line (all V2 and J Braid brands) is made on the same factory line in the exact same way . They are in all respects the same line . Same weave , same materials and same thread count . They are the same line dyed different colors . Slick 8 is very similar and woven the same way as V2 nd J but its made for the company from a different company than the other tw0 brands .. Here is the big secret in the braided line world no one wants to accept ... ALL the top brands are made into the same place FOR the companies who sell them NOT by those companies ! Hold for Berkeley line manufactures all have the same company make all the line for them from the same factory in the same corner of Hong Kong . Power pro , Daiwa , J braid or any other 8 strand line is made off the same factory line as each other and there is 0 difference between them. until this unnamed company comes up with a new fiber thread to revolutionize the industry once more you will not see an improvement in quality . You will only see new colors , New brands creep up when sales lag on other companies but the line will be the same . If it is spectra fibers it is all made by the same factory and I have toured that company floor and been told by the person in charge the secrets . The very best line on the market is sold in a generic spool unders several off branded company names . So if you hunt you can find the very best lines on the market for pennies on the dollar if you find the right generic spool brand to shop with . The same company makes a lot of cheap braided lines too . The difference? The cheaper stuff is inconsistent diameter and did not pass specs for the higher brand names and because of that dyed poorly . So some of their cheapo stuff is not great but some of their own generic stuff has the best dyes and the most consistent weaves and a lot of the innovation the big companies claim later comes years before in form of this companies off brands.
You bring up some great points.. Last time I looked a few years back there were 5 major companies overseas doing the weaving and a few in the states. And a loooong wait in line to get your brand on the loom. That may have changed and I assume it has. Raw materials differ but are in general very similar. Diameter of braid will effect break strength when a certain percentage of fibers are compromised... Larger diameters will have more left to carry the load... Then there are coatings.. Coatings wear off and depending on the application process will leave voids which means a loose rope weave is left. That's where V2 seems to do better than the last Gen. The j braid grand seems to fail much earlier than original x8 as in over 20 years of using braid.. I can't recall a line failing as much as it did in varying diameters over a number of different spools over the past year. Braids with high and low spots usually coarse 4 strand braids can hold up better due to the high spots taking the brunt of the damage in certain situations... Not a huge differnce maker but they shred veg easier which is why I prefer it. Then there is knotting... That's where some of the true differences come to light
@@TackleAdvisors The strongest line I have ever used is Diamond braid style weave though it's like fishing with a woven steel leader on you spool . The smoothest casting and cranking line I have ever used it Daiwa, slick 8/Jbraid or Original suffix perhaps but they all have the same weave . The most abrasion resistant line I've ever used is still the original power pro weaves used by several companies . The truth is spectra line is only as good as the weave used to thread it . Coating is a detractor and the best thing that can happen is when you use the line enough for it to come off ! As far as I know there are now 3 places that make all the braided line on the market . Berkeley has their own company and they cover all the brands under their wing only as far as I know . Then the main one who makes 80% of all the line for all brands which has 2 factories and 3 year waiting list for companies who want to use them to braid lines . The 3rd company is a rope making company and you can tell by the way they weave their lines that they are not fishing line specific in their weaves but if you do not mind a bit of noise when you cast this stuff is really as abrasion resistant as line can get . It will never be a revolution in fishing line but it won't break when you tag mr 50'' on a figure 8 . Anyone else who makes woven line is new if they exist at all but it is only a matter of time before this industry is given competition and other Hong Kong and other countries factories will open with luming line as their focus now that the military contracts for spectra fibers are becoming obsolete . The best line on the market is really the one that you like most . There really is very little bad braided super line (slick8 Jbraid) on the market these days and you cannot really go wrong . If you are rich and can buy new line each month you can go with the super soft stuff that feels like you are cranking a cloud especially if you do not plan to fish rock bottom . If you are river fisherman get yourself the diamond braid style weaver and because of river current that deadens the sound of the line coming into your reel so it probably will not drive you nuts all day. The truth is the only line brand that has never let me down is Daiwa Saltiga and other Daiwa offerings and even in that I have gotten terrible batches that fray easy and become white line in under 2000 casts on Musky gear . Trust me i use 80 and 100 lb line almost exclusively and it is not any more abrasion resistant as any other braid of lesser diameter as long as it has the same number of strands . In fact I have more issue with heavy braid fraying more than thin stuff because of the added surface area . So really I like to have different line on all my gear so I dial in for the structure I run into or which aids in the type of lure I use on that specific rig . I will never use J braid as long as I live as it is made to garbage variants and the thread consistency used is very underwhelming and I believe this line is ripe for failure when big mamma eats your lure . I lost the biggest Musky of my life because of Slick 8 and a rub to the right rock and so I will never use that line ever again though I have heard that they have worked out the issues with that line these days I still won't touch it.
@@TackleAdvisors I think you and I come from the same world when it comes to looking at fishing gear . My dad used to freak out when I was a young lad for buying new reels and then taking them all apart before fished them much if at all . I have a thing for fishing gear and your videos are always 100% about the best things about fishing . Thanks for the videos . I would love it if you showed people who are cheapos how to take a cheap reel and put high end parts into the reel to convert it into a top end performer . Tuning up reels so crap can function like gold is one of my weird hobbies and I have made some bullet proof reels for pennies on the dollar and I sure you have too .
@@rino5381 I measure them and the bushings you can replace with a micrometer and hit up bearing world online . Also if you look up your reel specs you can get sizes for most of the big name brands off the scat sheet that comes with the reel . You lose yours and google images will have one for sure . Another way is you can just google the replacement bearing area you are putting it on the reel and the model of the reel you are looking to include it on and some blogger reel improver on the web will have a parts list they shared at some point . If you have a specific bearing you are looking for I have thousands of bearing in stock for all kinds of reels let me know if you cannot find whatever bearing you are looking for and I probably have it .
You have "fans" because you give knowledgeable and unbiased information and deliver it in a comfortable/common man's way. It stands out from the product shill and the elitist channels you come across on here. It's appreciated to say the least
So far the original jbraid x8 has held up awesome for me. Last year I used the same spool all summer all over the rocky windy coast of Maine and it held up great. No breaks whether I was stuck on rocks or seaweed no wind knots in wind up to 30 mph, the stuff has my full confidence.
How good is the casting distance? I’m thinking about going 20 on my spinning. I currently using fins windtamer. And it’s a 4 strands. Noisy going through guides
I have been using the Grand [10 lb] since it came out. I have it on a Tatula CT100XS, a Metanium and a Stradic. I am very happy with it. I will be switching over from the J Braid 8 that my other reels have. The lake that I fish has a lot of peppergrass and I have had no fraying at all. Ten pound braid slices through that stuff like a knife.
My favorite braided line is the original power pro. I also love the J-braid (can’t beat it for the price). Lately I’ve been really impressed with the Savage Gear Silencer Braid:)!
The PowerPro version is the best braid I've ever used. It's very round and very smooth. I also love fireline in lighter sizes because its extra stiffness makes it handle much better with regard to tip wraps and tying knots. Just remember it breaks at twice what it says on the pack and choose size accordingly. And I do use uniknots but with a bimini double in the braid. If you want maximum leader knot strength, the single best thing you can do is tie the knot with a double. And not just the line doubled back on itself, a proper double tied with either a bimini or plait. At work I demonstrate the difference all the time on a line testing machine. Fireline x8 is fantastic stuff.
It's the same line ! It is made in the same factory on the same production lume with the same kind of weave as slick 8 ,J Braid and most 8 strand braids available today . It has more useless coating that will come off in a 500 casts to make it smooth out of the box but that coating makes the actual diameter thicker not thinner . Do not fall for the idea that lines are different through brands . They are not in most cases different in anyway . All the major line brands hold Berkeley and the company who makes Diamond braid are made at the same place by the same lumes .
@jbollom1 that's a load of shite, I spool line all day and there's a huge difference between the braids you just mentioned. . Jbraid is no where near the same as kairiki, nomad different again fireside different again Grappler and Ocea completely different lines
This is exactly the review I have been looking for.I just bought the J-Braid Grand x 8. Reason being is I didn't like the J-Braid x 4 which is extremely rough and hard so much so whereby there is even line memory (at least when new), but not quite as bad as the original Fireline. This is the very first time I have bought an 8-carrier braid as I had always been super reluctant to touch the stuff due to its total lack of abrasion resistance. I don't know whether you might have seen this clip on TH-cam, some guy reviewed the original Super 8 Slick, he was a Northeast fisherman like yourself and I couldn't believe what I saw. So, he pulled out a stretch of 50 lbs Super 8 Slick and ran it over the round edges of a smooth rock and it snapped on the 2nd swipe. It was ridiculous. Ever since I swore not to touch any 8-carrier braid even when my friends were telling me off that I was being left behind. That was until I saw Daiwa was coming out with the J-Braid Grand x 8 made from this Izanas material which is supposed to enhance abrasion resistance of the line. I also saw the same Izanas material being used on Shimano's JDM Pitbull braid. So, I thought it can't be that bad. Plus, even though I knew PowerPro was coming out with the Super 8 Slick V2, the J-Braid Grand is quite a bit cheaper. Anyway, my first impression is it is very smooth, but I have my doubt on its abrasion resistance quality. I haven't fished with it enough yet, so we will have to see. But, my hunch is 4-carrier will still be the best if abrasion resistance is your top priority. So far, it seems to cast far and it digs into the fluoro leader nicely which is great when you are tying the FG. Let's keep updating the feedback on these lines and see how they do overtime.
Hey man! I used the x4 and really didn't like it. ENough that I have a spool of 8lb untouched. I thought it was going to be great like an updated power pro original. But man........after 3 outings using the 30lb it turned into loose ropey spongy crap. I never had many difficulties with abrasion between 4 and 8strand lines. I get the "science" behind why 4 carrier could hold up better since only the ridges make contact.....but if you heard me mention that fins 40g stuff....I wasn't exxageratting a bit about it lasting and still appearing to be in like new condition. I went on about amonths worth of trips chasing giant brown trouth....constantly casting lucky craft wander, stream drive hd, and jackall sierra minnows 150' distancess allllll day...And twitching every handle turn in rocky rivers. Never a fiber out of place. And that is an uncoated super smooth line. I spend quite a bit of time bottom bouncing rivers as well. I never found 8 to chaff any worse than 4 in my rivers when I go leaderless. At the same time I wouldn't expect izanas to perform any different than the post patented hmpe. As it's as far as I can tell through what i"ve read. Izanas is literally just a new name given to the same material. ( I think sunline had a line out early last year using it)
I have to say while I am enjoying the smoothness of the 8, I know deep down I am an abrasion resistance kind of a guy. If I encounter just one snap, I can just see myself going back to a 4-carrier, probably Tuf-Line XP. Part of fishing is a mental game and it is never a good thing if you are not confident with your line. But, let's see what happens, I am trying to stay open-minded. You know in Japan they have 12-carrier braids already, fancy giving it a go? LOL. Both Shimano and Daiwa have it.
In my experience.... Gosen 16 is the best I've used... Only used 15lb but it's amazing... Power pro super slick v2 is my favorite common braid (used 8 to 65lb and love it) ... Will be using Berkeley x9 this spring sounds promising...
Another great video. I like J Braid in the heavier applications say 40# and up. The 65# is great it's very round and easy to deal with. I just fished 20# chartreuse spiderwire on a tranx 200 for like 12 hours and it's white. Not doing that again. Interestingly I bought a 300 yard spool of Offshore Angler 20# in yellow for my brother's reel and he fished it for the same time and it hasn't bled at all. Caught probably 100 Spanish Mackerel on it with no issues so for a bit of a savings it might be worth a look.
Would love to see a review on Berkeley's flouro leader material as well. It's seriously cheap and I found it to be very supple and effective. I mainly fish higher test lines than freshwater guys so it's a different feel but for like $10 for 100 yards of 20# flouro on Amazon it was great. 25 yards of the 40 and 60# was under $10 also and worked great.
Thanks man I’ve been using power pro for years because it was the best when I started however my local tackle guy spooled me up with the 6lb light green j braid and straight away the visibility/ casting and overall feel is better . I came here to see what you had said anyway 👌💪
The power pro slick v2 is a more durable line... If j braid grand held up like the power pro v2 and everything was the same.... It may be the best line ever made.. But it's not.... I've had as well as others some failures
Shimano line is the same as power pro slick 8 and J braid 8 strand they have the same weave same diameter and are made on the same production line . Dyes are different but only slightly .
@@rino5381 There's only so many ways to weaver microfiber and make it into a line . they take two smaller strands of micro and lay them on top to weave up to 16 "layers" . It is all so good from the least expensive original power pro to the newest gimmick weave or dye color the truth is most spectra or other named microfiber filaments are pretty hard to screw up . There are a few cheap badley woven lines made of the good weave techniques and but the quality of the filament is not good enough but for the most part you are looking at a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy . There are only a few true variations in weaves because they must be made on production line braiding lumbs . So many companies who ask for premium money for their version of a super braid are just using the same loombing process as other brands use but they source their own base filaments . From what I know most of all brands have their lines made at the same weaving factories and run their country made material through the same loombing techniques as the other guy . When you are talking high the difference between regular graded super lines VS the highest dollar super lines you gain very little if anything in variation from something someone else is weaving . This is not a nock on any brand that uses quality superline filaments and use a 8 -16 counter set and rocker weaving looms . They are exceptional lines from the cheapest you can get with this style weave to the most expensive . The difference are so minoot between these type of lines there is no reason to pay for the highest dollar one on the shelf unless you need it to feel more confident in your fishing day . Super lines are just that ..SUPER top to bottom . Even the original powerpro with 6 weaves is exceptionally reliable fishing line . Suffix is a great brand that cost is not inflated and will not fail you ever . Make no mistake Daiwa superlines are about as refined as you will ever need to catch any fish in the world with the highest possible fishability you will ever need . Berkley braid sucks for the most part but fireline is still very strong stuff probably works fine for most angling needs . Jbraid is fine but it is not god's gift to man . It's just another superline and the thing about all superlines is that they are all super.
8:50 I think the best word would be 'tacky.' It really does grab onto your skin a little. Having used both Grand and Slick V2, everything this video mentioned I agree with. V2 is much more wiry, whereas the Grand is smoother and limp. Personally, I prefer the J Braid Grand; I feel like it casts better on spinning reels than V2, and V2 backlashes on baitcasting reels are hard to untangle due to the tackiness.
Been watching for awhile just subscribed you are by far more informative than other channels I like how you actually focus on performance versus looks unlike other channels keep up the good work thanks
Ive been using j braid x8 on all my spinning gear for a couple of years now.. have had some powerpro but i had to throw away 4 spools of it in a month cause of windknots.. since that there has been noo pp on my reels.. J braid is really decent though esp for the price.
What would you say is the best braid for abrasion resistance, also I've heard some people say the 4x braids hold up better to abrasion then 8x. What are your thoughts?
I have both Powerpro and Daiwa J braid x8 installed on my reels. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. J braid is more for vertical jigging or shore jigging. The braid going through the guides are very quiet. The braid is round , light, soft, and smooth but very limpy. Due to the braid being limpy, the casting distance is dropped by 30% compared to Powerpro. Also, the braid line is prone to fray over a period of time from the guides. Not to mention the braid color bleeds quite fast. The soft limpy braid helps the jig lure action to manoeuvre freely in the water. The powerpro is excellent in all levels. It casts very far due to the braid being wax coated. Very tough and abrasion resistant. The braid color doesn't bleed as fast. The braid line is thin, stiff and flexible in a good way. It helps the line to run smooth through the guides without having the line to be limpy resulting longer casting distance. The only problem is the line making noise through the guides and the cost but the cost of the quality is very well worth it. Perfect for surf casting for long distance.
What you describe is right on par with my findings... Only I find on baitcasters the power pro stays quieter longer.. Which is the case more often than not as there's significantly less ribboning due to twist. I found that the grands abrasion resistance is less than the x8. To the point that I don't trust it under 20lbs. I find that after a few long casts on the beach or in general when the body of the line starts to hold water power pro starts pulling away in the distance dept... Lighter lines grand still wins.
A similar monofilament review would be interesting, if you're using it on a regular basis. ( Berkley alone has more than six varieties, plus versions for cold water and ice fishing. ) I'm almost at the point of dropping braid altogether. More trouble than it's worth ... especially when attaching leader or a top-shot. A few yards of extra casting distance doesn't make up for the downside.
I've been using power pro on my spinning gear for years now. I ve been using the j braid in the 50lb and 65 lb on my conventional gear. I you hit the nail on the head . Used the Kast King 1x. Never again
Jbraid holds more water and results in more water finding its way to your hands than the power pro... I think after about 50 trips or so with the new power pro. It's the best none buzz sawing baitcaster line I've used south of the stoopid expensive gosen or hitena lines
Hey man. Honestly I don't really use anything other than braid to a leader......I really can't figure out an advantage to stick with 100 stretchy stuff. I can tie in a long topshot if i really want or just a leader and have that braid last forever.....I can take 6-10lb braid that would break at 20lb plus with a pr knot. And all the negatives associated with floating line vs neutral/ sinking really go out the window. I handled them at the show for the fist time saturday.....wasn't overly impressed......I was expecting feather light but the models I handled weren't.....that. WHich one are you rolling with?
What do you think about Spiderwire Stealth smooth 8 camo blue? I'm looking to get Slammer lll 5500 and I want to spool it in store full. They have only Spiderwire in Multicolor and I want that color
It's not bad. I used it for a while on my saltiga and some baitcasters. It's like Jbraid 8. Power pro slick 8 v2 is vastly superior in every way that I can think of
@@TackleAdvisors thanks I'm happy with J Braid on my Daiwa BG 5000 for shore jigging setup. I love to have multicolor lines on my reels specially for jigging techniques. My favorite braid is Daiwa Evo Tournament's, Shimano Kariki and Sufix but this store don't have it in multicolor. I will give chance to Spiderwire
I really just want some help can somebody please help me I want to pick the best braided line for bass fishing I'm not going to be using it for frogs. All I'm going to be doing is running from doc to doc and shoreline just skipping and casting away what would be a good setup worth the money for me
Mine do I plan on going for the J braid 8 Grand cuz I thought it would be a great pic but I just don't know anymore with all these videos if the Creator of this video could give me 2 seconds of this time that'd be great
Never compare anything to Berkeley because they just do not make the same kind of lines as anyone else . If you really are the type that likes the outlier go with Berkley line in braid . Berkeley has always been on a different page than every other braid company . They never push the technology market very far because they are not super innovative when it comes to braids . They are a mono company who banks on clear lines as their meal ticket . their braids are not in the same world as the company who makes the best line for everyone . They just do not spend enough money developing the braided line they produce . It's never going to fail you but it's probably not going to give you the best of what a line can offer in a super braid . If you want good braid and do not have a sponsorship with Berkley use anything else .
Baitcasters and for durability and manageability.. Ppssv2. I like original j braid x8 over the grand... Grand isn't very durable... (despite their marketing) it's limp and casts well... Nice and smooth... But frays very easily in my experience... I won't be buying any more of the grand for my fishing
I am 90% saltwater and I fish both J Braid and PP. Both are good and don't bleed much. Really need to get them in your hands and see what you like but both and most premium braids are good in salt. Just no spiderwire unless you want to dye your reels the color of the braid.
What are your thoughts on Ardent Gliss? I just got some from Walmart clearance, never used it. Seems like a lot of people get break offs and abrasion resistance is terrible. Wouldn't even consider it for normal price. Was thinking about using the 8 lb on a small spinning set up for trout.
For starters....test your knots.......I found personally with gliss....I needed to tie in a leader to get good knot strength. Standard knots on Gliss, nanofil, and fireline ultra slip out or break. I found PR and FG knots are the only good line to line join knots for it as well. Which kinda sucks.....alberto knots hold....but not very well compared to the same diameter braids....The package rating is a bit closer to it's acutal break strenght compared to same diameter braids. Which means if peaple are used to suffix 832 6 or 10lb.....Gliss is not going to be near as strong before you even tie a knot. I use the 18lb now for albies on a stella 4000 and 6kg which is from the first batch I bought from the UK before ardent got the distribution and jacked the price up. (this stuff was supposed to be 20$ for 300 yards..that lasted a week) I used the 40lb in the surf but found I need a bit more body in my lines for plugging in surf conditions. Its great for max distance applications....as there still isn't a line that can cast as far....crazzy thing is. Some lures wont' cast as far because without the resistance of th eline coming off the reel to keep the lure flying like a dart. It can tumble. WHich is pretty interesting. But get that bait flying straight and you can get more than 20% gains.
How does the j braid grand compare to the 8 strand spiderwire? I really like the spiderwire but it’s like 40 bucks a spool. Do you think I should try the j braid grand or just keep using the spiderwire?
So it's almost been a year. After using both on the water which one do you think is better overall? Im looking to buy one of these this year. I primarily drop shot and throw senkos in grass lakes. I look for durability and long casts!
I stopped using the grand j braid in lighter lb tests.. It didn't wear well at all. Honestly for you application fireline Ultra 8would probably be best just be aware it's very slick and knots are very important
@@TackleAdvisors yes im using spinning gear. So you would choose fireline over the power pro too? I use a mono or fluoro leader with the braid also. So knots are important. What pound test do you recommend for the fireline? Ive been using 15 lb braid, I never had much luck with 10 lb braid. I've gotten a lot of wind knots and birds nests.
@@TackleAdvisors and if thats the case would you choose that fireline over any other braid for that type of fishing? Im also not worried about price if it holds up.
How do both lines compare to Vicious No-Fade. I have been using no fade for years because well it doesn't color fade. I seen the PP color fades off pretty quickly through the sand paper.
Color fade doesn't matter to me in the slightest. I often fish light colored or white. The power pro pigment doesn't get all over the place like older old school power pro. I have no idea about the no fade braid. Never saw it. But if the solution dyed fibers are its only selling point. It's not worth the money to me. Same thing with the finatic pro which I removed in favor of the 8lb Jbraid in this video
@@TackleAdvisors I personally use the No-Fade not only because of the lack of color fading but because of how smaller the diameter is. .012 for 50lb and .009 for 40lb. I have not used J Braid but it seems to share a lot of characteristics with the No Fade.
The onyx up to 30 lb was flawless. The blue 30lb loosened up more than the black which was weird. The only is still shiny and it was used the most. I had a bad spool of 65lb moonshine that was visibly frayed the entire length. We think it was the spooling matching and high tension and speed against a leather glove.. Outside of that... The onyx is the beast sub 40$/300 yard braid I've used.
Do you think the grand is really more abrasion resistant than 4 carrier braids? Daiwas claiming it’s more abrasion resistant than their 4 carrier Jbraid.
The braid that seems to be gaining some worthy fanfare is the Phenix Rods Hydra 8 Strand...hopefully you can give this braid a workout as well. Great stuff as always.
I'll look into it. After that finatic braid debocle I'm wary of new braids from companies coming out this late in the game. As it can't be anything special in my eyes. I'm still waiting for the super slick version of maxcuatro that I used 2 years ago when helping with some guide layouts on the tiralejo surf rods. The v2 may be it as it didn't have a name at the time. And it was black. But was inky black.
@@TackleAdvisors how long have you used it for? I've found when you first spool it it's very stiff and noisey but I've had the same 20lb on one of my baitvasters for about 2-3 years now used it many hours a week and it's butter smooth after about a month. I've used normal pp wasn't impressed and I can't justify the extra $10cad for the ppss
I have found that braid will dig into your spool when the drag kicks in. It can dig in so much that on your next cast the braid can get hung up because it's now stuck in the spool.
great review! A question if I may - do you think Power Pro could be a good choice for feeder fishing? In feeder we work with heavy feeders/cages and abrasion resistance is very important. However I am more concerned with what you said about Power Pro acting completely different to Daiwa's J-braid in terms of how it touches the water.. not sure I got you right there since English is not my native language. Did you mean that Power Pro sinks much faster? Or does it touch the surface of water faster? Maybe both? In feeder the faster a line sinks the better
@@TackleAdvisors thanks! but what about its sinking qualities - did you say it sinks faster than j-braid cause its heavier or does it tend to form bellies/curves on water surface?
About to spool up with that new power pro on my reel and had a question, do u think adding KVD line conditioner to this braid would help with any of the issues you have mentioned?
I never used that stuff. I'd recommed fishing it to see if it's a negative. Some people need the limpest line they can find. But it's a coating that permiates the weave and after use it will break in and soften up. And in some cases it's a positive having that wireyness. I'd say hold off.
. I should renew the braid. I used suffix 832 , Shimano Kairiki. Now shuttle in two braid. Gosen casting and Ygk G soul. I asked everyone opened a topic in a local group and asked my Greek friend he is a great angler. He is catching big blue fish. He is using Ygk on spinning reels and Gosen on light game reel. He said bouth of them are good. My rod is a Major Craft kg Evolution 0.8-2.0. I am catching barracuda and blue fish. I need 0.18 braid. Which one is on the front?
Would be nice to review the Gosen 16, YGH GSoul, Shimano Pitbull 12x and so on. This lines feel much slicker than the V2 Powerpro or JBraid 8X on touch and through the rod rings... sometimes you ask yourself if you've broke the line when casting! Lol.
I dig it as long as you get a good one. I probably would go with a curado for freshwater but for the salt. I don't think there is a low pro as rugged. I'd prefer a brass gear but the alu in this one seems to hold up OK. It casts OK but I didn't like it for light braid and jerk baits which is something I use 6.5oz reels for often. The brake didn't handle that well at all throwin megabass 110s and 8lb suffix 832 (which with a pr knot to a leader is probably 20lbs) but jigs spinners and saltwater plugging it was fine
I'm having trouble with J Braid (30-lb) on two baitcasters. First problem is the braid seems to dig into the spool and mid cast stops where the line has dug into the spool. I can easily pull out the dug in area, reel in and cast again with no problems but it happens over and over again. I fish a lot with Flukes and I think the line may be twisting due the to Fluke looping around. Could that be the cause of the line digging in? It happens constantly on my Curado I but hardly ever happens on my Tatula CT. The other problem is I cant get the J Braid to lock down on 12-lb Red Label Flourocarbon using an FG knot. I've tried more wraps, less wraps, a few wraps-tug then wrap some more tug etc... I have tried roughing up the braid with my fingernail and have tried dynamically snatching on the finished FG knot to try locking it down with no success. The only way I can get the FG to not slip is to tie a granny knot in the Flouro tag end after completing the FG knot. After fishing that knot, getting it wet and catching a few fish (where the knot should have definitely been pulled on enough to lock down tight) if I get hung and pull on the line the flouro always slips from the braid at the FG knot with less force than it should. Any one else experiencing either of these two problems with J braid? Any suggestions on how to remedy these problems?
Abrasion resistance? Do folks not run flouro leaders on pretty much all applications? The FG is easy to tie and can be done rather quickly, on a rocking boat and won't pull through like a uni/uni, especially with mismatched flouro / PE diameters. It casts perfectly and holds up well. I usually tie one FG and can fish all day. If the Flouro gets nicked up, you cut it back and retie the lure / hook. Easy and takes PE abrasion out of the equation.
I always use a flouro leader for abrasion resistance and you're right on but mainline abrasion resistance is still critical. I just fished a pier in NC heavily over two weeks and I went to 65# braid to avoid cutting off on pilings. Used 6' 30# flouro leaders to start but usually ended up with a foot after Spanish Mackerel missed my jig and cut it clean. Did land a 6# citation though and the flouro saved my butt it took at least two good runs against pilings loaded with sharp shells and such.
Sooooooo how are the lines holding up on your end? I'm leaning more on power pro v2 I'm learning to handle braid on baitcasters and that j braid grand tends to break off a lot when casting it might just be my casting technique. J braid on spinning gear is insanely good!
Not so much a fan of the new j braid... Too limp and poor abrasion resistance... Slick v2 is where it's at.. My new favorite all around smooth line for the money...
Hey man... Hmmm not sure any braid will make a differnce. 2 friends of mine live there and braid doesn't last very long. Pr knot to a leader and pray you don't get reefed. Braid under tension and abrasion won't last at all. Give Don Becker a call at Donstacklehawaii.Com. One of the nicest guys you'll ever talk to. Tell him Nick, Scoobydoo told you to give him a call.
Almost like this video was made just for me. I respooled my reel with 30 lb j braid and went to the bank for 30 mins before a boat passed by and took my entire spool. So here I am contemplating between jbraid and power pro.
I have the power pro super slick 50 lb test in yellow. My Quantum mg tour edition is covered in yellow dust from the coating peeling off. I’ve been using super lines since the Linder Bros. First talked about them in the In Fisherman magazine . Fire line is One of my favorites , not too good with the abrasion resistance thing. That’s what Flouro leaders are for.
ooof.... remember when red power pro first came out...I jumped......my calcutta te dc was permanently stained lolol...My first braid was Fenwick Iron thread back in the late 90s. It was a bronzish color.....Friend of mine used power pro kite string and turned me on to it lol
Another nice Video! I use Daiwa Tournament Evo 8 Braid on close to all my Reels. I think its much better than the old J-Braid. Would love to try the Morethan 12 Braid but damn that price tag...
I recently test drove some J-Braid Grand in 20#, on a brand new Ballistic LT. I gotta tell you it is incredibly smooth compared to the others braids I use (PP SS V1, Sufix 832, Sufix Perf.). So much so, that it took me a while to get used to. The Grand combined with the smoothness of the reel made it feel as though I was reeling in line without a lure. Not a bad thing. Just that I'm used to feeling the textured line coming through the guides. Also, since I didn't test it that much, I did not get to test it's sensitivity, or lack thereof.
Did you see the post I made yesterday on the community tab..I posted a 40 second video showing a pr knot and how it's held up after 3 weeks of fishing it and over 2000 casts......the line still looks new and shiny. An occassional fuzz or fiber out of place....much more durable than the j braid.......I think out of all the 8 strand braids I've used which I think I've used all but the seguar braids.....I think it's the best I out there...which isi saying something since i'm not a big power pro fan...I like this stuff better than the Maxima 8. It makes the maxima obsolete..
@@TackleAdvisors ya, i just watched the video just now. Lucky enough for me that i had spool up the onyx 10lb power pro into my curado and it casts further and almost no bird nest comparing to the normal power pro . The only braid that i will really discourage people to try is the spiderwire brand. The brand really suck . It costs me the only fish of the day. Lol. 😂
You should try Pontoon 21 braids. Super thin, durable and long lasting. Breaking point measured with the knot, not like many others companies out there.
Not my experience but Im told they sell bootleg jbraid on Ali-express. I tested 40lb Jbraid with the improved uniknott and it broke between 25lb and 27.8 lbs in 6 trys. I uses a swivel tied to bucket hung a few inches off ground slowly filled with water until it broke and then picked bucket up with scale. I will try the fg knot next but honestly the test ive done the line broke in the middle. Im trying to return the Jbraid i bought as i type this maybe i got a bad batch idk.
Have you used Seaguar Smackdown? I use Gliss in 18, 24 for spinning and 40 for my baitcaster. Anything lower than that is useless it's so fragile, but I have found the 18 and 24 to be durable enough considering how this line is a quantum leap better casting than any other line I have ever used.
What do you recommend for a first time braid user? I've been fishing mono for 30 yrs and decided to try braid to see if I notice enough of a difference to validate all the hype.
I would start with Power Pro original. It will give you a good baseline as to how braid behaves. You can experiment from there once you have some experience and develop your own preferences based on your individual needs.
@@xDx0xUxGx I think so. Much more sensitivity because there's essentially no stretch. Also casts further than mono because it's much thinner than mono of equivalent strength. Just make sure to research the proper knots to use because they differ from using mono in some cases.
The main issue I'm having is along the lines of "a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link". With straight mono, a bad knot would be the only "weakest link". I hear everyone say to use braid with a leader and not straight braid. My thinking is if I'm using 30lb braid connected to 14lb mono, I now have the potential for 3 "weak links"1.the connection knot 2.the 14lb mono and 3.the line-to-lure knot. Even with perfect knots my line is only "as good" or "as strong" as the 14lb mono....So why not just use 14lb mono? Also...With all of the hype around braid, I mainly hear negatives. "You need a leader because braid is easy for the fish to see..", "The connection knot will weaken from banging the the guides...", "You need to change all of your hooks so they don't bend out...", "You have to fight the fish differently because the lack of stretch makes it easier to lose fish...", "You need to be careful tying knots because the braid will slip...". If it's that good...Why does it seem so bad?
Doug Kichman because people like to sensationalize the negative qualities of everything. They lose a fish due to their own mistake and immediately look for something to blame. If someone is routinely straightening saltwater hooks, they are doing something seriously wrong. In my 30 years of saltwater fishing I have never straightened a quality saltwater hook. Either they are using junk hooks, or the completely wrong setup. There are several knots approaching 100% strength out there; my advice is to learn to tie them properly and you won’t have any problems. Use quality tackle, properly tied knots, and reels with a smooth drag and you won’t have any issues. Do not buy cheap braid if you decide to try it. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.
As always good stuff! Its occurring to me that as a general rule of thumb- different braids are similar to mono in that "limpness" = reduced abrasion resistance
Hi! I've used 20lb Fireline (0.012in) on spinning gear but had it broken off a rock. If line diameter is what improves abrasion resistance, which would be better? 30lb Fireline ultra 8 (0.015in with supposed 4x abrasion resistance) or say a J braid with a heavier break strength and thus thicker line? And if diameter is best for abrasion resistance, which type is most economical? Thanks!
I've always liked comparing line by their PE rating/line diameter rather than their "package" strength ratings. It seems some people like to compare by line weights. For me, both would be a better/more equal method than advertised breaking strengths to compare lines. Regardless, how to these lines stack up against Berkley's Pro Spec/Trilene Tracer or Yozuri Super Braids? I've have great success with Berkley 20lb for baitcasting but I haven't tried any of the newer braids like Yozuri or x8. I'd like to be convinced that my newest spending spree on Pro Spec bulk spools was a worthwhile investment lolol. I'm looking at line in the ~80lb/PE8 class for popping and stickbaits. Any recommendations? Also, any updated opinions on Penn Slammers vs Saragosas? Thinking of getting a 4500 slammer 3 for targeting tropical species off the rocks and from kayak. It's street prices is almost $100 cheaper than the 6K saragosa right now. And i've had some major issues with the size 8000 saragosa's (possibly my fault for palming the spool).
I agree with you about the ratings. And how they should be measured. I specifically went into this solely focused on the experience and handling. I didn't want to open up the abs and KBS aspects and how the power pro is the diameter somewhere between 15lb or 20lb grand. So strength tests would blow j braid out of the water. Once I pull super slick to 25lbs and j braid to 18. .. There's no going back it becomes power pro is stronger.. Game over for 90 percent of the internet that goes by what's solely on the package.
The slammer 3 is proven a tank and I'm still seeing quality control issues pop up way more than the gosa. So if you get a good one it'll be great. But the gosa is probably the more reliable and consistant. And after the spinfisher suffered the same water intrusion issue the slammer did. Gosa all the way for its sealing
Out of all the braids I've used... On a baitcaster... That doesn't need to saw through algae /vegetation. It's one of the best lines I've ever used. Makes maxima 8 obsolete. Best USA smooth braid out
I'm not sure if you can get your hand on the Asian version of the J-Braid line, it is significantly thinner. However, now I am questioning my self if all the lines are rated correctly or it's just a numbers game they play. It is very tricky with braid lines to measure thickness since it is not perfectly round, perhaps it's oval in shape. I think it comes down to confident of your choice.
Got some spools of the Grand for my trouting and finesse stuff for Redfins, looking forward to trying it after having used the original X8 for years now. Actually had people complain about it though, had issues with random break-offs, extreme fray and stuff.... But honestly? I think this was all on themselves, not the lines fault.
Hunter Flannigan I’ve heard of too many people randomly snapping Daiwa braids for me to even try it once. I agree that most of the time it is user error but I won’t risk throwing several ounce swimbaits when there are lines out there that are known to be consistent and not have these stories.
@@Jon-nz3dm For my heavier set ups I use different braids as well. Should probably have clarified that I'm talking about finesse set ups. Just like Nick explained, it's not too abrasion resistent which makes it rather unsuitable for other types of fishing I do. I don't know anyone who uses it for heavy jigging and stuff either.
One more question, I was going to get two new reels the tatula lt and the exceler lt, I wanted to get one in the 1000 size and the other in the 3000 I've went back and forth on what size I want on each of these reels.. Thanks for your advice
@@daltonfishing8872 If you can swing 2 tatulas....you'll thank yourself later. The gear upgrade, weight savings and how solid they are compared to the fuego on down is signifcant. I found that with the insane light weight of the 2000 tatula. I don't need a 1000 to pair even with my 5' ultra light tennesee handled loomis. For all around the 2500 is a good size....the 3000 may be better to deal with mono or fluro. Due to the larger spool diameter. I'd go tatula in the larger size to shave off as much weight as possible.
I love your videos and collaborations with Elias. Why don't you make any actual fishing videos to support your vast knowledge. I like to fish Lake Ontario tributaries, every body fishes with mono so I do too, do you think fishing with braid will make it easier to mend
Thanks man! When I started I didn't want to be a live vicariously through me fishing channel. And Im as old school as it gets. As are those I fish with. If I start spot burning my relationships and receipt of Intel goes out the window. Alot of those fishing youtubers aren't welcome in some of my local waters. They even get harassed. But you never see them mention it in videos. Part of why Elias left the NY is due to that as well. Although he's gonna be in the area in the next two weeks
@@TackleAdvisors Ah. That explains alot of the mystery surrounding the whole TH-cam/fishing/spot burning phenomenom. Personally, I understand the spot burning thing as I have a secret spot of my own that I wouldn't want to advertise publicly, but other people fish there that I don't know. I can"t control what they do. But harassing youtubers for exposing fishing places is wrong. First of all knowing a secret spot doesn't guarantee you're going to catch fish. Secondly productivity changes and new spots have to be found. Lastly fishing should be for everyone to enjoy.
@@robertgerber2533 the main issue here in my state is access... Expose a location and not long after no trespassing /no parking and park hours signs get enforced.
From what I can tell....They use Izanas which as far as I can tell is nothing more than 2018/2019 Dyneema. THe company who manufactures the material changed the name. ALll the information I've read on it is that it's the same material just a new Trade name. Standard J braid uses the same "post-patent expiration" HMPE fiber. WHich is what can be found in all the cheap lines. Comparing the grey light color to alllllll the other spools of standard x8. It feels like it has no coating. And it feels that way in all the lb tests.....Light lines in j braid standard felt like they had no coating. But in the thicker versions 20lb and up it felt like there was a coating. The break in time on the j braid grand seems non existent. Where the previous took a trip a or two. It feels also like it may be a tight weave or woven under a bit more tension. Aside from that I can't tell it apart. On the water. For the price difference. between the standard lb test....I'd go Grand. Simply because I don't like E honda and Ryu is so much cooler.
@@lxvebassin2179 The 8lb power pro is around the same diameter as the j braid 15lb.........If my measurements are accurate and daiwas intenet specs for the 15lb are accurate. I'd go J braid.

@@TackleAdvisors yea stripersonline is great
So far the original jbraid x8 has held up awesome for me. Last year I used the same spool all summer all over the rocky windy coast of Maine and it held up great. No breaks whether I was stuck on rocks or seaweed no wind knots in wind up to 30 mph, the stuff has my full confidence.
I like the jbraid however do you tie the the FG not?
That J-Braid Grand is A-mazing. I have all my spinning rods on the 20lb Gray Light color. Super legit stuff 👌
How good is the casting distance? I’m thinking about going 20 on my spinning. I currently using fins windtamer. And it’s a 4 strands. Noisy going through guides
What color power pro did you prefer and how did the color hold up ? Thank you for your videos 🎣
Onyx seems to last longer than blue.. Never used green... Moonshine seems to be a little ropier in 65 compared to onyx as well
I have been using the Grand [10 lb] since it came out.
The Shimano Kairiki is the slickest of them all with one if the smallest diameters fantastic stuff.
Ive used kairiki not abraison resist...😢
I’ve only used the moss green power pro spectra think I’ll never switch
Waiting for update and what is the best braid today ?
In my experience.... Gosen 16 is the best I've used... Only used 15lb but it's amazing... Power pro super slick v2 is my favorite common braid (used 8 to 65lb and love it) ... Will be using Berkeley x9 this spring sounds promising...
Tackle Advisors thanks for the reply and looking forward to some more line reviews and comparisons. TC
Hello. What do you think of the Berkley x9
You should test J braid against the Shimano Kairiki braid
Shimano line is the same as power pro slick 8 and J braid 8 strand they have the same weave same diameter and are made on the same production line . Dyes are different but only slightly .
@@jesusoftheapes so they are all the same?
Have you tried suffix 832 ? By far my favorite!
I'm curious for his review as well
I need a guy in waders to be my fish retiever...lol
Was wondering how these compare to suffix 832? What would be your top 3 braids for 10-15 lb spinning and 25-30lb baitcaster? Thanks as always
Have you tried the sunline xplasma asegai ? Looks like a very unique line .
Have you tried Sunline frogging and flipping braid?
Been watching for awhile just subscribed you are by far more informative than other channels I like how you actually focus on performance versus looks unlike other channels keep up the good work thanks
Ive been using j braid x8 on all my spinning gear for a couple of years now.. have had some powerpro but i had to throw away 4 spools of it in a month cause of windknots.. since that there has been noo pp on my reels.. J braid is really decent though esp for the price.
What would you say is the best braid for abrasion resistance, also I've heard some people say the 4x braids hold up better to abrasion then 8x. What are your thoughts?
Thanks for the thorough review, ive been trying to find info on these two braids before buying one or the other for a while now. Thanks again
Which one is better for striper fishing
What braid for surf fishing do you recommend on Louisiana coast what lb especially for abrasion resistant also 4 strand or 8 strand??
Good stuff... Thank you very much for the well though out and detailed response
Never again
what about the braid soaking up water? i been using j braid for past 6 years and i hate when my hand get soaking wet using it on a baitcaster.
Jbraid holds more water and results in more water finding its way to your hands than the power pro... I think after about 50 trips or so with the new power pro. It's the best none buzz sawing baitcaster line I've used south of the stoopid expensive gosen or hitena lines
Which braid would you recommend for surf fishing throwing big baits for distance
I'm really liking the new power pro v2. It's very very different than the regular v1 superslick. Tough smooth handles beautifully
@@TackleAdvisors thanks been using the v2 on my snakehead reel this year so far guess I'll try some on the surf setup now as well
What would you use CO polymer or fluorocarbon coated line for? Plus I've got the new daiwa kage rod I wanna send to you if you are interested,
I can’t believe you had that junky 13 reel in your hand!!
All I'm going to be doing is running from doc to doc and shoreline just skipping and casting away what would be a good setup worth the money for me
Mine do I plan on going for the J braid 8 Grand cuz I thought it would be a great pic but I just don't know anymore with all these videos if the Creator of this video could give me 2 seconds of this time that'd be great
You should compare those lines to berkley x9 :)
So in your opinion, between this 2,which one would you prefer?
Baitcasters and for durability and manageability.. Ppssv2. I like original j braid x8 over the grand... Grand isn't very durable... (despite their marketing) it's limp and casts well... Nice and smooth... But frays very easily in my experience... I won't be buying any more of the grand for my fishing
Alright thanks for the suggestion, gonna change to ppssv2 for my stradic fl 😊
If going light.. Go to 8 or 10 instead of 15 or 20 (for fw 2500 ish sized reel)
Best line review I have seen. Great job
Which one would be best for salt water
I am 90% saltwater and I fish both J Braid and PP. Both are good and don't bleed much. Really need to get them in your hands and see what you like but both and most premium braids are good in salt. Just no spiderwire unless you want to dye your reels the color of the braid.
Have you made the second video for this or do you just not care for the j braid grand at all
What are your thoughts on Ardent Gliss?
They still make the Fireline braid. It's the Fireline Tracer Braid
I think it's tournament braid in the USA
just what i've been waiting 4 , thank you
Tackle Advisors is it okay to put oil thruough top of gear box or pinion area?
On penn spining reels?
So it's almost been a year. After using both on the water which one do you think is better overall? Im looking to buy one of these this year. I primarily drop shot and throw senkos in grass lakes. I look for durability and long casts!
I stopped using the grand j braid in lighter lb tests.. It didn't wear well at all. Honestly for you application fireline Ultra 8would probably be best just be aware it's very slick and knots are very important
Whoops... I assume you're using spinning gear?
@@TackleAdvisors
yes im using spinning gear.
@@TackleAdvisors
and if thats the case would you choose that fireline over any other braid for that type of fishing? Im also not worried about price if it holds up.
@@TackleAdvisors
Also what pound test in fireline would you suggest?
Is there an update to the longevity of the power pro? Did it turn limp like the j braid?
Always liked suffix 832 the most doesn't really matter that it fades to me
Fished it again for the first time in awhile.... Next to Berkley x9 and pp ss v2.... Man is it rough (which can be good)
@@TackleAdvisors how long have you used it for? I've found when you first spool it it's very stiff and noisey but I've had the same 20lb on one of my baitvasters for about 2-3 years now used it many hours a week and it's butter smooth after about a month. I've used normal pp wasn't impressed and I can't justify the extra $10cad for the ppss
i haven`t used it in a number of years, but Seaguar Smackdown was some very smooth stuff,,have you used it?
I have found that braid will dig into your spool when the drag kicks in. It can dig in so much that on your next cast the braid can get hung up because it's now stuck in the spool.
You didn’t spool it right enough. User error
great review!
As far as braids.. Absolutely.. It's tough stuff in that department (pp superslick v2)
Thanks Nick.
@@Zodiackilla1 you're welcome brotha!
Lol.
What do you think of the concept Z as of now? Since you have had more time with it.
A lot of help thanks j braid
When Will you release an update of this review ???
Is there a chemical for re-slicking the line between trips
Hitena makes a product I've never used that claims to be PE polefin magic
Any suggestions on how to remedy these problems?
hi friends i have a question is there any difference in distance between power pro super slick 8 vs power pro super slick 8 V2?
I wasn't a fan of original super slick... V2 In onyx is my favorite all around affordable US market slick braid
Would be good if you could test these 2 lines for abrasion matching them for diameter rather than strength. Good video
@@TackleAdvisors just ordered 300 yrds of moonshine superslick v2 replacing my j braid like you said not a big fan of the new j braid.
Cool... Dude the moonshine is sweet... Lights up like neon with the right lighting for a long ways..

Looking for a good recommendation of abrasion tough braid in the 85/100lb braid. Going for GT off the rocks in Hawaii
Love the video's. Wow so many tests for braid, lol. With mono all we looked for was strength and flexibility.
Almost like this video was made just for me. I respooled my reel with 30 lb j braid and went to the bank for 30 mins before a boat passed by and took my entire spool. So here I am contemplating between jbraid and power pro.
I'd go power pro.... I've really been digging it in the 8 20 and 65lb
@@TackleAdvisors Thanks! Respooled with 30 lb power pro.
Spiderwire Ultracast is stronger than both! Great video as always
I put that on a few setups.....I prefer the new ss v2 over it. It's not bad...but it's nothing special.
@@TackleAdvisors Yeah that's what I said when I tried the V2. Obviously better than the original but still wasn't something that "wowd" me.
What are your thoughts on braid color in our northeast salt waters ?
Color doesn't matter in the slightest. Blue green yellow white etc. Use what you prefer. I prefer lines that I can see.
Tackle Advisors thanks ! What I thought just lookin for another opinion.
My eyes ain’t what they used to be either
Another nice Video! I use Daiwa Tournament Evo 8 Braid on close to all my Reels. I think its much better than the old J-Braid. Would love to try the Morethan 12 Braid but damn that price tag...
I don’t like the new v2 , my favorite line is super slick 8. What line do you think is comparable to the old super slick 8
Power pro 8 slick v2, стоит покупать?
I recently test drove some J-Braid Grand in 20#, on a brand new Ballistic LT. I gotta tell you it is incredibly smooth compared to the others braids I use (PP SS V1, Sufix 832, Sufix Perf.). So much so, that it took me a while to get used to. The Grand combined with the smoothness of the reel made it feel as though I was reeling in line without a lure. Not a bad thing. Just that I'm used to feeling the textured line coming through the guides. Also, since I didn't test it that much, I did not get to test it's sensitivity, or lack thereof.
That's the ballistic for ya its like reeling air
Any idea on the sufix x8 comparing vs power pro super slick V2 on the abrasion ?
Could Daiwa j x8 grand be good for trolling?
Is it really worth the switch?
Definitely like these videos your information is priceless and once again can’t thank you enough for starting your Channel
Thanks!
Hey buddy, I've got 500yards of 120lb kastking braid, you want it to do a review? I'm not going to use it so you can have it.
I agree with the diameter
Thanks for another great video. Keep em coming!
I no it's only been a few months how are you liking the super slick now
Out of all the braids I've used...
Love the early video release before I go to work.
That wirey coating on PPro reminds me of how Shimano Kairiki SX braid behaves - same factory anyway.
Looking at when kairiki launched. It may have been the line I used when helping test guide lay outs in the new tiralejo surf rods
Tackleadvisors great video i really liked it.. What are your favorite monofilament lines?
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't really have a favorite mono. I generally use them as leaders. I do like Maxima products and Suffix.
One more question, I was going to get two new reels the tatula lt and the exceler lt, I wanted to get one in the 1000 size and the other in the 3000 I've went back and forth on what size I want on each of these reels.. Thanks for your advice
O my question is what size should I get on each of these do you have an opinion
@@daltonfishing8872 If you can swing 2 tatulas....you'll thank yourself later. The gear upgrade, weight savings and how solid they are compared to the fuego on down is signifcant. I found that with the insane light weight of the 2000 tatula. I don't need a 1000 to pair even with my 5' ultra light tennesee handled loomis. For all around the 2500 is a good size....the 3000 may be better to deal with mono or fluro. Due to the larger spool diameter. I'd go tatula in the larger size to shave off as much weight as possible.
You should do floroucarbon line battle. Floroucarbon line has gained popularity over the years. Seaguar Invixz is my personal favorite!
What makes J-Braid Grand X8 different from regular J-Braid X8?
Tackle Advisors at 15 pound test on a 2500 spinning which one would you recommend out of Super Slick V2 or or J-Braid Grand X8?
@@lxvebassin2179 The 8lb power pro is around the same diameter as the j braid 15lb.........If my measurements are accurate and daiwas intenet specs for the 15lb are accurate. I'd go J braid.
