Fish a small private lake. I don't fish the spawn. Only keep fish over 12". I troll. Small rapalas behind my canoe. . Love watching you guys fish. Reminds me of simpler days.

Lot of fish! Keeping an eye on the perch is a great idea. When they spawn out and loose those eggs the waters will be just about warm enough for those snakes to start getting active again! Don't even need a thermometer!
I started doing the perch runs with my parents when I was a little kid. Now I still love it on ultralight 😜
But - the sneks have started moving. I caught 3 this past Thursday 👍

I was wondering what rod/reel combo you're using. I'm ready to pick up some new gear and always like to see what people have success with. Thanks.
I was using a Cabelas Fish Eagle ultralight rod, roughly 5.5' long paired with a Shimano ultralight reel. I was using 4lb P-line as well. Hope this helps!
Wow, that looks fun. I was down at the eastern shore yesterday & it was 72 degrees! Unfortunately, wasn't fishing. Looking forward to seeing you back on snakeheads.
It was a blast brother. Snakeheads are #1 for me, but I love the perch runs!
I went out or snakehead this past Thursday and got my first few of the year 😜🥳

Can I catch snakehead right now?
The short answer is yes.
As I’m writing this, it’s now Monday, March 15. I was able to land 3 on March 11 and I’ve seen some snakehead caught by others through yesterday.
Now though we have a cold front. I’d wait until it warms after this cold front before I expected much.
