Great review, many thanks for your time making them. I’m having the drv970 lte 2 channel installed tomorrow professionally. I returned the next base IQ as I was having real difficult time with getting the back camera to work. It was replaced twice! I’m hoping this will be fine. I spoke with BlackVue in UK and they were very very helpful with their knowledge. My disappointment is this… you can only have these cameras connected to only 1 phone at any one time! Meaning my partner or son who will be driving this will have to login in each time separately. A little gutted, the next base did allow multiple phones to be able to watch live view and all the functions of the camera. Also 2 charge costs. First one is the basic SIM card fee and then separately another fee for additional features. On a positive you can cancel and down grade or upgrade monthly
I think 128 gb will be adequate. If you ever need footage just try to download it as soon as you can. Don't drive around for a week before trying to download it.
Well had it installed but HUGE problem. It just only connects when I’m close to the car!!!! The live view is simply not connecting via WiFi or cloud. The sim is set up At the £4 month subscription. Lost. But will give BlackVue a call on Monday. I’m hoping it’s just some minor tech issue.
@@huggy1 I have had issues like that, I downloaded a new firmware right after posting the review. it seemed like it just wouldn't connect to the cloud. I downloaded a new firmware a few days ago and it seems to be working but then again today it never connected. So it seems there are some kinks that need to be worked out. Quite frustrating because in the 4-5 years of using blackvue cloud I never had this issue.
Fingers crossed. Spoke with BlackVue UK and they have said that the camera powers down when turning the engine off, they are right. The camera must have constant live power via the leads. It’s basically not wired right. It’s booked in back at the same place this morning, Fingers crossed this should sort it all out. Will keep you guys posted in case anyone is have similar problems.👍🏽
I plan to use it as a perimeter camera with cloud , can I still have cloud/liveview with my own tmobile sim? Lastly I do want to use the blackview interior camera since I can see around the vehicle, rear camera does not really capture entire surround like a guy peeking into the cabin, can I just buy the interior camera without the rear?
About LTE: Police won't do much these days, especially if something happens while parked. I'll think about it, but at this time, cloud seems nice, but is unnecessary and it's " sky high" ...price wise ;) We had a crisp video of a guy who broke a window in our office... nada. Friend of mine, left his car for a couple of hours - broken window, some things missing, had a dashcam... again nothing. I think the best bet is a good insurance.
To be fair, police typically don't do anything because they don't have video footage. I have used one of my parking mode videos to give to another woman in a parking lot who has hit and ran and they hit and runners insurance took liability due to my parking mode footage. You can definitely get away without using a cloud camera though if your dash camera has decent parking mode. It's more of a luxury feature than a necessity.
@@integralcamwell ive done boxing for many years. I want to get the cloud so i can be notified while at work so i can run down and catch them of they try to run away 😂😂. Is there live notification on the non cloud version?
car thieves will dump/trash the dashcam immediately, so should your car be stolen, a good GPS/Phone Tower tracker (that is well hidden) is worth its weight in GOLD. Speaking from experience!!
i have a dr970x lte, no gps signal near my rear center mirror on my volvo with ACC ! signal ok if a remove the dashcam, no deported gps module, very sad ...
i got a redtiger and it sux , you have to manually hook it to your phone everytime you get in the car, then you cant use youre phone for anything else. i have a car wifi hotspot and CANT EVEN use that with the redtiger ..which is beyond dumb.. but if i understand youre review correctly, the cloud based blackvue I can just start the car and go without having to connect anything at all?
Most dash cameras do not require you to connect your cell phone to the dash camera while driving. I have not used a red tiger dash cam but I have seen them on Amazon, I don't think you need to connect it to your cell phone. I have seen this common misconception that you have to connect your phone to it while driving, that is unnecessary unless you want to copy files to your phone or change settings. It should be recording the video files to the memory card in your camera.
@@integralcam it does not, i have pulled the card and loaded it in my pc and it records nothing unless you go thru thru the process of hooking your phone up everytime you get in the car..
Ddpai makes a great product, I have reviewed several of their cams. But they don't have cloud features, they are in a lower league than blackvue. If someone hits your car in a parking lot, your ddpai can't send your phone a notification, it can't upload that clip to the cloud, you can't view a live feed over the cellular network to see what's going on around your car. Blackvue is for people who want high-end features that budget brands like DDPai don't offer.
I've got the thinkware f770 dash cam police are absolutely disgusting some one is scratching my car when it's unattended I don't now whoes dooing this I need to see if I can get someone to upload my firm ware ok but police👎👎👎👎👎👎👎🍌🍌🍌
Yes, putting your data on a company's server so you can access it from anywhere is commonly referred to as the "cloud". I do suggest everyone understands how their data can be used and to consider their privacy when using the internet.
@@integralcam Now if I could only use my private cloud, it would eliminate privacy issues. I could easily setup my own cloud server, have the hardware and terabytes of storage.
That's a dumb statement you have a smart phone don't you. Well guess what your data and everything you do is monitored by the NSA, social media company's ect. If your worried about your data unplug form the grid forever.
The mere fact we are chatting here means this data is on the TH-cam servers (cloud) so where is the privacy? btw even though I'm now old as f---k, I work as a senior solution architect in the tech industry, been in the data space for more than 4 decades, have seen how our private data is scattered across the globe enriching different corporations pockets. We just gotta live with it unless we want to go back to the dark ages and use smoke signals for communications.
What options do you have if you choose not to subscribe or pay for anything additional? How do you view the video
Is there a specific T-Mobile SIM card required for the LTE Plus

Will a 128gb card be ok with this model? The card model you recommended I have but in 128gb

I think I may upgrade from my VIOFO A129 Duo for the non LTE 970X. Looks good.

Does it drain your car battery if it's active when you're parked for a long time?
You can set a time limit. I set mine to 9 hours, just a bit longer than how long I park at work.
depends on the state of your cars battery. New 12V battery = 2 - 3 days in parking mode. Old/dying 12V battery = 3 - 4 hours max.

Nice job...!
Blackvue is over rated and "WAY OVER PRICED". The 'DDPAI 4K Car Dash' Cam Front and Rear does a better job for only $149.

What about the 3 channel?
None of these have 3 channels. I am currently testing the box model that was not covered in this video, but that one is also 2 channels.

"Cloud"? There is no such thing. You mean "putting YOUR data on someone else's server". Nope. Not happening.
