I'd like to see this style of dashcams expanded to using SSDs, to improve reliability + longevity and to having the option to install 2 4K cams with the Starvis 2 sensor.
And its worth saying, most importantly, that the camera that less likely to be stolen and but still get video evidence ,is the Blackvue Box series. Given the box is hidden and secured. Every other camera is at the mercy of a thief. And thats the point to push.
I'm definitely keen to see more companies using this design style. There was one waaay back in the day who was originally unsuccessful, but it makes so much sense. The main boxes could even have active cooling fans for more channels or higher resolution!
@DrekiTech ive been screaming this for years. Literally mocking ytubers for not pushing this. Was even thinking about becoming a youtuber myself. Everybody is caught up on the "dashcam" format when it should be a cctv on wheels like Teslas sentry system. Battery tech is there. Can be interchangeable like cordless tools for long parking times. It's sad but Blackvue Box is old tech being slowly reintroduced as the future. Hilarious.
Can you recommend a portable video camera made to use storage other than an SD card? All I've found so far are the cameras within smartphones, and (from what I understand) some GoPros.
and now the million dollar question! does it have a button for me to push if i manually wants to save a clip of something that i saw during my drive! or do you still have to "punch" the blackvue cameras to get them to trigger an collision event ??
I just got mine and I can confirm it does come with the emergency button. In fact, mine came with 2 of them. One inside the package and another one standalone on it’s own package.
Nice review. Imagine what a Viofo ,Mai, or Vantrue version of the Blackvue Box series would look like. You couldn't have said it better with, for the hardware to be separate from the cameras, the unit should be alot more better, HDR included.
I'm having noise issues with the 970x Box plus. Noise is mainly present while in parking mode and can be heard in recorded videos and while live viewing. Noise is only really present during daylight hours. However, if I switch to time lapse mode, the noise sounds like a helicopter or lawnmower and can be heard at any time of the day. I've explored Blackvue Live and have found other Box unit (770x Box and 970x Box) cameras with the same issue by snooping on publicly shared units. I put together a 10 video playlist where people can hear what I'm talking about. The last video in the playlist is where I set it to time lapse mode. th-cam.com/play/PL3DeJi40nY5f897trtLTXioAWa2j8dpL8.html&si=SLi5ezJDJmVOEU1g
@@DrekiTech Audio noise. Guess you didn't see the link that I posted in the original comment. The link is to a playlist with 10 videos where you can hear it. Please try the link in the first comment I sent. TH-cam won't let me post the link again for some reason. Have you tried to change the place of the box ? This can happen if some electronics in the dashboard are inducing the noise... You can also test it out of the car to see if that disappears...if not => warranty it directly.
Some other smaller companies have tried it unsuccessfully. But it makes so much sense! Like viofo already has excellent remote rear cameras. Why not just use two of those one front one back.
@@DrekiTech ive been literally harassing there IGs to do the right thing. I mean, there's only 2 type of Dashcams out there. Blackvue Box series VS The rest. With Viofo resources, they can do this quite quickly. And with all the open source dvr software out there, they can have a cloud up and running in no time.
are you judging it from the video on youtube? have you changed the settings to the highest quality setting (and it still will be pixelated a bit due to compression)...
Best review of these cameras - doesn’t come across as an ad read! Thanks for the hard work

70Mai 4K 30 HDR is not possible!
Thank you for the review. The switch from the camera processing the video to a separate device is very interesting.

Is there a way to add a 3rd camera for interior view?

Blackvue sells a Bluetooth button to lock footage

good to know.

Nice work DT.
why is the speed of the vehicle not being shown? It displays "- - -- km/h" in the lower left.
I didn't have the GPS cable plugged in for much of my testing. I'm waiting to get it professionally installed first :)
If only Vantrue made a version of there F1 motorcycle series for cars, right.

Do you mean video noise or noise in the audio? I didn't notice any audio issues with my vehicle but it is pretty quiet compared to some cars.

Haha, it really is such a long name!
Then I also find it fascinating that only one company have figured out 30yr + CCTV technology would be useful in a car. Laughable.

License plate capture is very poor. Im not buying until they fix this.
