- See people's comments below for more input. You will probably have to use a flat screwdriver to pry that piece up.
Our fabric hose was leaking air as well. Viewer suggested a way to fix that below my comment regarding that.

We later Found the hose had lost suction due to deterioration and was not only due to being clogged. Time to buy a new hose! Second one I've found this issue.
If the hose's outer condition is good, you should consider resealing the inside of it with liquid Plasti-Dip (or Rubber Dip)--or another liquid latex product. I have done so with remarkable results. Go to the Vacuumland website, type in "repairing cloth hoses" in the vintage section, and you will find several postings with directions. Thanks for posting this as Aerus/Electrolux repair videos are rare.
Yes! Woven hoses are permanently flawed in this sense! Veey few remain air tight! Never just buy one off Ebay, because other sellers don't know this, and they never test a used hose. To right way to correct this is to go to a vacuum cleaner shop or an Electrolux dealer, and buy a vinyl replacement electric hose! Trust me, youll be glad you did! They are easier to handle, last longer, and are just a better option. Also, always store the hose off the canister and Power Nozzle. Never store the machine in one peice with the hose connected. That puts two stress points on the hose, and will eventually make ANY hose go bad. You want to store your hose in one of two ways. Either on the floor of your closet laying flat. Or hung on a hook, or a hose holder in a graceful, upside down "U" shape! That way you will preserve your hose for many, many years!
@@adamdickinson1531 your most welcome
@@queenconvertible great advice! Thank you!
This saved me. I had a plug-up at the end and never would have figured out how to remove it. A simple solution to an apparently unworkable problem.
Thank you sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
Thanks for the short video. I have had the vacuum since 1979 and couldn't figure out how to get that thing apart without breaking it. I got it apart, cleaned the clog in the hose, and now it works almost as good as new. They don't make them like that anymore!
Thankyou, worked like a charm....2 socks caused the clog......
Thank You! **Thank You! **Thank You! **Thank You! :) We had removed the screw, but could not figure out the removal of the handle until we saw you video! Old Faithful is back at work!
Trish Shaffer glad we could help. Amazing what you can find on TH-cam isn't it!?
Thank you for the video. I've been trying to figure out how to completely remove that piece when I didn't need to.
Thank you so much! Was trying to figure this out for years!
My 40 year old Electrolux canister outcleans ANY of other brands /newer models. Even the $800 Dyson I got for Mother's day...
you just saved me over $120 and endless escalating frustrations...i couldn't believe i found EXACTLY what i needed with your vid!!! pls allow me to donate $50 in your honor to meals on wheels, or chicken soup brigade, a food bank, or any food distribution angels of your choice. let me know!
Glad to hear it helped you! Meals on wheels is great. Read comments below as well for more tips & advice if your hose doesn't leaks. If you would like to donate to help me make more videos u can send me donations securely to my cash app id: $Livenfree777 Or paypal Brices777@gmail.com
@@livenfree great...thanks....driving tommorrow...this will sponsor several "Ensure" nutrient deliveries for seniors who got nothing !
The plastic handle on my hose broke. I glued, taped, failed and was about to buy a new hose when I saw your video. Now I know why I kept that old hose that had split and cracked and despite taping it, gave me little shocks when I used it. Followed your video EXCEPT my hose handle has plastic notches and pins that have to be pried apart. A little effort, but I was able to swap the handles and the hose is "FIXED". Thank you!
Awesome glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much! I knew the thing had to come off somehow, but I had given up. TH-cam comes through again.
GREAT HELP! Thanks - tried and tried to release curved handle, but no luck. This did the trick! Thanks for sharing! Now, it's on to vacuuming :-)
Excellent! Thank you for giving us information that (up to now) seemed impossible to find. But now I'm looking for information about the little dial on that same handle. I says "Open" with a little curved arrow.
Hmmm not sure about that dial. What does it do?
@@livenfree That's what I'm trying to find out. It's just about 1.5 inches from the screw nearest the end of the hose. I managed to turn it to full "open" and now the suction at the end of the hose seems to be a little stronger but not nearly as strong as the suction at the opening when the hose is removed. We have two Golden Jubilee models and both hoses have the little dial button broken off and no instruction book. I'm guessing there are tens of thousands of Electrolux owners with the same problem.
@@nemo227 sounds like that is the vent to reduce suction at the end of the hose say your sucking dust off some fragile glass etc. Odd its stronger when open. In the video you can see mine on bottom of the hose just up from the bend. Right below the small vents that allow the air in. U may find an original owners manual online or on ebay by searching for model number and the word manual
@@livenfree I agree. That's the most logical explanation. I've been searching and I'll keep searching. I also have an above the range microwave with a bad front door frame. I've ordered what was supposed to be the correct part and had to send it back. I even bought a smaller counter top micro a couple of years ago but I want my counter space back. I'll most probably just figure out a modification and put my old door frame back. I have a radiation meter to double check for any leakage. There is always something to fix. Meanwhile our refrigerator/freezer has been functioning for 30 years. Go figure.
FABULOUS tutorial. Had just the information I needed in order to clear my nozzle. I got the screws out- but wasn't sure how much force to use on the plastic piece. NEVER would have gotten this apart without your help. And great tips on how NOT to get electrocuted by your vacuum. Thank you!
Your most welcome! Glad we could help. Thanks for your comment! :)
Never would have gotten that without you. Thanks!
Awesome thanks for feedback glad we can all help each other.
Fantastic video. Wasn't sure how to do this but you are an expert on this Thanks
ron lidkea thanks glad it helped!
Thank you! Big clog expelled!
Very well explained and demonstrated. THANKS
Terrific video thanks. the central vacuum Electrolux has the same attachment and when our blind strings got tangled up in there I couldn't figure out how to pop off the handle. It is very old so after taking off the screw it still would not lift up I had to use a flat head or a knife at the side to pop it up a bit and the hose will slide off like butter and you can untangle inside
Glad it helped! Thanks for the feedback! :-)
THANKS VERY MUCH!! that is I was looking for .
Thank you so much for your vid it helped me a lot
Your welcome!
born in 1983... staring at the end of the hose like its some ancient relic... removed adapter... i guess the new cheap consumer tech isn't ALL bad?
hm, I have an aerus legacy lux and Im trying to remove the handle from the hose, but my handle must be a different model. There is no screw, only a blue plastic square pin. I remove the pin and I still don't see how to remove the handle. Any ideas?
Excellent! The 'plastic dip' method that's touted on Vacuumland as being the end-all solution, is not. If you're using a hose with this process as a DD, it will not while hold good vacuum over time. If you're collecting vacuums and you just need the hose to work, the dip method would be fine. Commercially, there are 8ft lengths of clear shrink wrap that may be the solution...but it may make them too stiff as well. I've yet to try it.
Not a plug it's called wire
