Excellent information. However, you don't always need to replace the switch assembly if testing shows that it is bad. If the black two prong receptical isn't burnt, pop off the rocker on the switch and clean off the burnt contacts inside the switch box. Then replace the cleaned contacts, pop the rocker back in place, and you have a working switch assembly at a fraction of the cost to the customer. Also a great fix when availability of switch assemblies is a problem. You can do this repair without removing the switch from the handle.
What would cause the fuses to blow ? I have two power heads that I know work.. both worked for a bit then stopped. I tried them on 3 different hoses. Now all three hoses dont work. It seems that one of the two power heads are causing the fuses in the hoses to blow. I am also wondering in one of the power heads I replaced the bulb with one that was a higher wattage. Would that actually cause the fuses in the hose to blow ?
thx ... fixed my contact issues with my handle ... apparently somehow one of the metal contact points accumulated a grease ball covering it and I removed it with my fingernail and now it works again.
Hi there, Excellent video love it ! I have a question : When i vaccum with my handle "gas pump" style sometimes when there's an angle on the handle the vaccum stops working until i change its position As if there's a false or bad connection when moving the handle How can i fix it ? Guess the only way should be for me to dissamble it and see what's going on ?
Where can we purchase the 3 way switch wire harness? Ours is exactly like the one you're testing in this video but we're unable to find the replacement part. We live in Canada. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Guys, I have an ancient but little-used Whirlpool FC7000XM0 vacuum cleaner and the hose is hosed......needs replacing. Part number is 744191 and/or WPL-4148437 - either way it is discontinued. Can you recommend a person to fix this and/or a place to buy the hose and I will watch a bunch o' videos and fix it myself......tried to take the end off to no avail today but I am stubborn. If you can recommend a repair person.......I will ship hose anywhere in the u.s. I am in NYC.
I just fixed my broken hose thanks to a video from 11 years ago.
Glad it helped.
Nice video! Bought a new hose and it worked for a year, then died. Found this video and now know why both hoses are dead...FUSE!!! Thanks!
Awesome stuff guys. Turns out the fuse part was bad. Saved me 💰

You guys are awesome! you just helped me determine that I have a blown fuse in my vac hose. Thanks!
Thanks, guys. That helped immensely. Also, when I looked, my multi tester has a continuity with sound feature.
Thank you so much for this video! I was able to determine the switch was faulty. I ordered a new switch.. and voila! Thanks again!

Do currently available Plastiflex hoses still use the same 'P with a circle around it' logo as shown at 0:27 in the video? Thanks!
Yes, sir! They do still have the same 'P'.

Thank you for the nice video. Where can I buy the switch assembly in Canada.?
I opened my hose switch assembly and now I only have one speed instead of two. Any suggestions?
very helpful, thanks.
