    Hello, I just got my results back and I have high levels of DHEA-S and Testosterone. But, I don't have much of the significant male physiological traits. I have normal periods (though they are heavier nowadays), I have a high pitched voice, i don't have acne, i don't have a significant amount of body hair. I have wide hips and a small waist, and my breasts are not small. I do have facial hair though and some around my chin and neck. I also have thinning hair but always thought it was genetic. My thyroid is normal. My vitamin D was low. I got the blood test because I wanted to get on birth control since I've been having pain in my right ovary. I had a ruptured cyst there years ago and it required emergency surgery because it broke a blood vessel and caused internal bleeding. That was 2017.

    This was a very helpful video Dr.Mitha! I had high DHEA-S a couple years ago and it went away, now it's back after I recently moved to a new country (lots of stress.) and yes I have lean-ish PCOS and my insulin resistance never shows up on lab tests but I have it (One very good Endo Dx me w/ it though after using a continuous glucose monitor.) I also had high cortisol on 24hr urine tests but not on blood tests. We ruled out cushing's disease. It's very interesting because some doctors sometimes tell me I don't have PCOS at all depending on wether my hormones are stable when they test! Just wanted to share w/other women who are in this yo-yo stress rollercoaster.

      Hi Marina, curious to know what country you moved to? How did your doctor rule out cushings?

      @@yasmint7197 Balance your blood sugar. Since I've been on Metformin my DHEA went down my 30%. Diet changes can be enough if you sustain them.

    If your only elevated androgen is dheas and all other hormones are normal, normally menstrual cycle, etc. Is it possible to lower adrenal androgens so much that moderate hiritism and acne reverses?

      Hope the doctor answers..your cortisol and insulin are on the High side..your dheas pretty High. Your vitamin d Is ok but i still would take some to get It bit higher. I have pcos too. You Need d chiro inositol and myo inositol plus Metformin. Selenium and bromelain and Magnesio supremo for the inflammation...these HELPED me but did not cure me.

    I have PCOS abd very high DHEA levels. Besides stress, do you think strength training can cause DHEA levels to increase? I love doing hypertrophy and strength training, been doing it for 2 years now.

    • @saminamithaND
      @saminamithaND  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it can, it depends on how you feel after. If you come home and feel exhausted and have to take a nap then the intensity is too high. If you feel like it is a stressor on your body then reducing the intensity might help the dhea. That being said strength training for some can help with cortisol levels and stress. So ultimately it is how you feel after the workout that is what I would be looking for and also incorporating some yoga and walking on off days

      What? Way off! Why is your doctor not referral to a Endoconologist?
      Remember your doctor works for you and you can ask for a referral.
      It is irritating and frustrating when doctors don't take labs that are seriously off. I think they do this more frequently in patients that are overweight. And to me it's infuriating!! I have had family members die. Shortly after finding out they had cancer that spread throughout their entire body. Because the doctors never took any health issues they brought up seriously. They act like loosing 100 lbs can cure everything. But it can't!
      And many times they prescribe medication that make weight loss impossible. Diet exercise can't fix everything!
