14:25 For clarifications, 40 teams disappeared on the first day refer to 20 boys teams and 20 girls teams.
Since there are 52 teams playing in a 64-team bracket, 12 teams get a bye, so 40 teams play on the first day. Therefore, 20 teams lose and have to go home. The same thing on the girls side.
The little things about this episode:
Kageyama smirking because know he knows that Hinata saw Hoshiumi.
Hinata getting a "closer look" because know we know he can see way more things after the training camp.
The camera angle on Bokuto's straight making it look like he is actually bending the court,
Daichi's cooler demeaner when he is talking to Kuro just so that he keeps looking cool enough even though by his own words "he was way more nervous than he though't he would be".
This episode is a bit filler, I mean it kinda cuts in between matches a bit, but still, since we have been building all these characters up it is nice to see all those interactions pay off.
today is Hoshiumi Birthday!! our all-rounder player!! one of my favorite characters.

i always found it weird how hard the first round nekoma match goes, just insane animation for absolutely no reason lmao.

I love the animation in this ep, too.✨ I especially love the Kiyokawa's #1's shouting scene. So fluid & powerful looking! Of course, they made Hoshiumi scenes impressive looking as well.
There weren't any really "off" subs in this ep, but 12:36「ちょっとねぇ…こじらせてるもんでね」→ "He likes to rant" isn't a very precise translation. 「こじらせる」in this case is kinda like "having built up a twisted way of thinking/reacting to people due to past experiences". It's hard to translate (maybe "He's a bit bitter"? But that could be a bit too negative...) , so I guess "likes to rant" is as close as they could get while being nice & short.
It's nice seeing HInata & Yamaguchi being friends in this sn, too. Going shopping for T-shirts together & meeting up on New Years & things. Even their VAs have commented on that somewhere.
