I really like how it highlights Shiratorizawa's coach saying he doesn't feel any worth in Hinata without Kageyama, because this was truly the first insane Hinata play that didn't depend on anyone else, there was no genius setter giving him the ball, no one helping or telling him how to jump for a block, no blocker funneling the spike for him to receive, it was only his own talent and hard work, it was all him.

The parallel between hunger and healthy agonistic spirit is a main theme in Haikyuu since the very beginning (even if it's properly voiced out only during this match). It's one of the many fantastic things that solidify this anime as my favourite.

Jyooji was full of surprise today and reminded me of the first time I saw this story. The combination of the Miya brothers and Alan, followed by Hinata's receiver, is one of my favorite scenes in Haikyuu.
The fact that Osamu can do a minus tempo quick when talented setters like Oikawa, Akashi and Kenma have admitted that it is impossible for them to do so is bonkers. Inarizaki are just built different. They have the the best setter in the country (who is also the best server), a top 5 ace, a middle blocker who is pretty much unblockable on offense, a well rounded opposite hitter who is also a high caliber setter, a great libero and an inspiring captain who keeps his team in check and also puts in clutch performances.
One thing you will probably love is that furudate really wants to give the audience the most pure volleyball matches. It happenes one time that he nearly finished drawing a chapter but at that time the WHATEVER GLOBAL ORGANIZATION OF VOLLEYBALL changed a rule, qnd furudate was using that rule for that chapter. He redid that sequence in the manga for the porpoise of giving the true essense of volleyball. Furudate the real top G
"If you have a bite when you're starving, you just get hungrier." is a quote that comes to my mind regularly and randomly, it's so intense. That shot of Hinata when Osamu says those words is such a beautiful visualisation of the sentence. Whether it's literally about food or anything else, I think it's a quote we can all relate to, in some way.

I honestly love hinata. You’d think a person who’s been told by many people to just stop would be disheartened. But Hinata challenged them and showed them his worth. Such an incredible character.
A really great watch🎵 This ep itself is always a very satisfying watch with great animation & loads of fine plays (especially that long ralley & Hinata's 1st really good, intentional receive), but watching a reactor who's SO into it & also knowlegeable about volleyball rules (~8:24~) is just as satisfying. I also personally found it hilarious how Kageyama was SO grudging about admitting the nice receive to Hinata's face (16:12)!🤣 Both the animating team & the VA did a great job there.

Honestly, when people compare "Blue Lock" with a show like Haikyu which gives you moments like these, where your heart literally races, I feel sorry for them. I mean, does 'Blue Lock' make you shiver and give you goosebumps like this? Which other sports anime has this effect on you? For me, I have a watched so many, and only Haikyu does it for me. The show has this invisible hand that pierces your chest, and touches your heart, and you feel it. Greatest sports anime!
if you enjoy haikyuu, highly recommand to read the manga after you finish S4, IMO 2 movies will be too short for the remaining content, for best haikyuu experience plz read manga before the movie
