literally the game turned from story base to strictly a competitive game. in my opinion i dont think it has any correlation to the rest of the franchise if it werent for the name of the game
Originally there was a Rainbow Six Patriots, which was more like Vegas, but it got into development hell. Siege is basically salvaged and improved multiplayer part of Patriots. It initially had to be a short multiplayer only break before next proper R6 with story and such, but Siege suddenly blew up and Ubi decided to dutch the roots and go full ESports live service

Vegas 2 had the most fun T-hunt out of any of the games imo. I would play hours offline whenever I didn't have Xbox live or internet available. The mechanics, the leveling system, all of it was just superb and having a squad come with you you could direct made it so much more immersive. I've played every siege since r6 3, and honestly the online modes were all fun as hell too. I understand why you couldn't show those, but maybe make a video of the evolution of T-hunt? Cause it evolved and then downgraded for siege I feel. It matches more of the tone of the game, but compared to Vegas 2, no comparison. Love the video though man, creative and would like to see more diverse vids from you fam!

Rainbow six Rogue Spear was a phenomenal game and one of the main reasons I flunked out of college my first go around. Women, a whole lot of beer and a frat also played a pivotal role in my freshman year debauchery.

So...I don't know why he didn't show it but Rainbow Six 1998 has a great planning phase that would get better and peak with Rainbow Six 3 You can actually stealth the first mission by climbing the wall garden thing (for vines) around the back. The game is more about the planning phase and then executing it. You can actually win based solely off a well made plan and go codes without even taking control of a character.

It doesn't help that the GOG version is kinda tricky to get running even despite being sold that way, it basically only works properly on Windows 7 and before. But yes, do the tutorials. It doesn't play even remotely like anything else out there, and the planning phase is the meat of the game. You are supposed to go over the blueprints of each level with a fine tooth comb and spend hours fine tuning timings, go codes, who to swap to when, what rooms to hit with what grenades. It's maddeningly complex and I direly wish someone would make a modern take on this specific gameplay loop because it's quite unique.
As for Rogue Spear, the game came out on PC first, and you can actually grab it for free since it's basically abandonware. Look up Rainbow Six Black Ops- it's a combined edition of R6 and Rogue Spear with all expansions that just runs on modern hardware. ...Athena Sword is an expansion pack, and I really hate that modern gaming has descended into such anarchy that expansion packs are just not a thing anymore. It's.... basically DLC before DLC existed, if you wanted to ship a big chunk of new content for an existing game, you had to ship another disc and have people buy that because internet in the 90s would take hours to download even a couple megabyte file unless you were on some souped up corporate T1 network.
90% of Siege players don't even realize the existence of older Rainbow six games or don't bother to care. 🤣 They really don't know what they're missing.. Vegas 2 in specific was so ahead of its time that you could even use your voice on mic to give commands to the AI teammates. 🤯 (And also no microtransactions, a bunch of customization that is leagues ahead of siege's, advanced cover systems and much more.)

It's a shame Ubisoft dropped their ball with Rainbow Six Lockdown when it completely changed the direction away from being a solid tactical FPS to became a generic action FPS. When Lockdown came out in 2005, it was disappointing and then SWAT 4 came out and blew R6 Lockdown away

If they made a Rainbow Six Vegas 3 with Siege's gun play, it would be an instant buy... but I think that's a bit too much effort for Ubisoft. I'm also 32 so I was well alive when R6 was first released! I don't know if you eventually found out as well, but anyone else who is curious, the reason the Vegas 2 characters were spazzing out was because it runs at 30fps and you have to use a frame limiter to chill out all the characters, makes it so the enemies don't lock to your head as quickly too. Great video, I've pretty much played all of these titles!
you missed an entire "generation" of R6 games, the Rogue Spear series (which includes Black Thorn and 2 other standalone expansions) was basically a stopgap between what you played in R6 and R6 3, it was essentially the "second" R6 game
I had to OG rainbow 6 for the Nintendo 64. I’ve played just about all of the games. Insane that 24 years ago i didn’t even know how big rainbow 6 would be and siege ever being a thing. Siege could be better, and it’ll get there I hope, but I love the whole entire game entirely. So unique and fun.

I played R6 Vegas 2 as my first R6 game years ago when I was in elementary school. It was free for Xbox gold on Xbox 360 and I would secretly play it when my parents weren't close by. I always had to switch to something else quickly if they walked by because I wasn't allowed to play a rated M game at that age.

Vegas 1 and 2 both hold up today if anyone is wanting to play either, with Vegas 2 being my favorite of the two, way more of a Vegas feel throughout story mode. Also have lots of hours on terrorist hunt. I would highly recommend an FOV mod, the head shaking can also be fixed by locking the FPS at 60 but some NPCs won’t do it even with high FPS. I prefer high FPS and just ignore the head shakes. Team commands on Vegas 2 are extremely powerful, marking enemies almost gives your teammates auto aim, especially when they’re breaching a door.
They need to make a new single player rainbow six. They can keep siege as the multiplayer, and make other rainbow sixes as the story modes with a cohesive story, and Vegas cover mechanics
they wont make it. ubisoft PR heads are too far up thjeir own asses. even though GR Breakpoint is a nice game (yes it is a nice game) but you can see the live service, multiplayer and overall vibe that doest feel like a singleplayer game

R6 Vegas is one of my favorite games ever. It was one of the first games I played online on the Xbox 360 and the map Calypso Casino is still one of my favorite multiplayer maps ever.
My dad had the first R6 games on PC when I was growing up and I instantly fell in love with the franchise. Played a lot of those and then a lot of both Vegas and Vegas 2 when they came out. Legendary games.
I'm a old ass man and Rainbow Six 3: Ravenshield was my main game from its release until ubisoft stopped supporting the game. I even played competitively on the CAL and TWL leagues. Some of the best memories in gaming. Damn I'm ancient 😢

I talked about it before. The nostalgia critics who say modern Siege isn't a Rainbow Six game have no idea what they're talking about. Playing the old games really lets you know the development team took them into consideration when they made Siege. Even the latest version carries a lot of that DNA: leaning, fast reactions, prefiring, brutal damage, preplanning entries etc. The only thing it's missing is working doors.
I played almost all of the Rainbow Six series, my first game in the series was Rainbow Six on the N64. Vegas 1 and 2 are my personal favourites. Would love to see a R6 Vegas 3 one day.

R6 Vegas is one of my favorite games ever. It was one of the first games I played online on the Xbox 360 and the map Calypso Casino is still one of my favorite multiplayer maps ever.
My dad had the first R6 games on PC when I was growing up and I instantly fell in love with the franchise. Played a lot of those and then a lot of both Vegas and Vegas 2 when they came out. Legendary games.
I'm a old ass man and Rainbow Six 3: Ravenshield was my main game from its release until ubisoft stopped supporting the game. I even played competitively on the CAL and TWL leagues. Some of the best memories in gaming. Damn I'm ancient 😢

I talked about it before. The nostalgia critics who say modern Siege isn't a Rainbow Six game have no idea what they're talking about. Playing the old games really lets you know the development team took them into consideration when they made Siege. Even the latest version carries a lot of that DNA: leaning, fast reactions, prefiring, brutal damage, preplanning entries etc. The only thing it's missing is working doors.

I played almost all of the Rainbow Six series, my first game in the series was Rainbow Six on the N64. Vegas 1 and 2 are my personal favourites. Would love to see a R6 Vegas 3 one day.
