i also agree with your findings the fire spread method may be slightly slower but i think its worth it at the cost of not using so much flint and iron. i would have to afk my iron farm for a night just to be able to afk the gold farm for a few hours. 8 portals with flint and steel was also to fast for my realm to handle so 6 portals with fire spread lighting seems perfect. my only issue is that the baby ziglins arent getting killed so if i afk for more than a couple hours my world starts lagging really bad and the farm starts to slow down.

I built it with all 8 portals for my Realm and realized I really needed the Impaling V. I run it on 2 ticks, mostly because it's on a Realm. I haven't tried on 1 tick, but it starts to get some visual glitching on 2 ticks, so I have left it there. It cranks out the piglins, and I can see why you would need all the storage if you are going to AFK at it for very long. I immediately made a stack of golden apples to eat as food to flex on my Realm-mates.
Just built this and wanted to add some things other people might want/need to know. If you build this over an ocean, you will get squid spawns, so make sure you add at least one filter for ink sacks or you will clog the furnace system. Other people suggested powdered snow instead of water buckets in the dispensers, this does reduce lag, you also dont need to add the extra fence gates around the dispensers because snow doesnt flow. And lastly, one full dispenser of flint and steel will last 5 minutes roughly at full speed.
@dariandoyle1053 for destroying the ink sacks? Not really unless you create a non stackable item filter for the smelters. Because the sacks would need to travel over the smelters to get to the lava, or if you put the lava first the swords would end up being burned too.
Omg I was doubting every step of the way. I was like “does he really know what he’s doing?” or “I really hope this works” because I’m doing all this in survival and I’ll be damned. I apologize for doubting your work. I now have a working gold farm along with my working iron farm thanks to you. Awesome video!! Keep up the great work!!
I use 4 portals with lava-firespread-observer system to light it. (Feel too much of a waste to use flint and steel. XD But it is not even half as fast as this one. My trashbox of a machine is just too old anyway XD) I use a trident killer with one impV trident, and 1 filter for ignots, 3 for nuggets, 1 for z-flesh, and one hopper for the swords into one blastfurnice. The resulting nuggies directed back to the filtering stream to zoom to storage. I also ue powdered snow instead of water. Maybe later I try that way too. Anything slip past the hoppers get to be cremated, but it was not backed up even once yet. Mostly use it for xp, until I start to build an extra fast bartering farm.
Firespread mechanic farms are generally not slower than flint and steel ones if you use at least 12 (trap)doors. It is just the amount of portals that matters and how often you break them. I remember a video on how to make a farm with zero-tick dispensers that put and absorb water sources so fast water doesn’t even have time to flow… But I can’t remember who did it

I made the furnaces face the wrong direction, so i just put a path there. this farm is so much better than my other farm, i got 10 blocks of gold in two minutes.
Did it on ps4 work super well full size , but change flint and steel to lava until the autocrafter is here and powdered snow instead of water cause it’s way more simple
Hey prowl, love all your farms and videos. When you talked about auto crafters for the flint and steel, I realized I was in that current update. If you would like me to show you the extremely slim and cheap auto crafter I would be gald too. (It fits inbetween the portals, and wont interfere with any of the current farm)
Ok. I have one weird question: can you keep the farm self sustaining, by bartering for iron nuggets, for the flint and steel? Will there be more iron produced or consumed is what I guess I am asking. Thank you, whether or not you figure it out. It is a GREAT farm anyway! Ps. My portal farm in my long term world is in a mushroom island to keep hostile mobs down on my phone, and at 4 portals it still lagged, but not on my new laptop!
Works fine in ps4,a little bit laggy but works fine,i made the 8 portal with a 3 block gap and put a lava system between them, and yes you really need that much tridents and really need impaling V to the farm work better
im gonna have a hopper that can be moved beneath the gold ingot storage unit so that when a lever is switched the ingots dump into a dispenser that sends the ingots into a nether portal. they’ll then be picked up by hopper minecarts beneath the portal in the nether and deposited into an automated piglen trader. the items from the trader will then be sent back into the portal via water elevator (the relm im playing on has playable fantasy races the players are assigned to and the one i play as can summon water in the nether. ive also done a similar design that used a dropper elevator to achieve the same effect) excess gold ingots go back into the gold storage, a second set of sorters for the piglan trader goods, and this gold farm can then produce SO much more then gold, xp, and rotten flesh. ill also be building a massive villager trade hall into the storage area to exchange the rotten flesh into emeralds and then bottles of xp.
I just build this farm and it took ages but it is very worth it but I did encounter a problem with the gold swords, basically there are not enough hoppers to hold the speed of the farm so swords got into my inventory, so I would build a few more of them smelting machines
Hello… First off, amazing video, or I should say videos since I’ve watched so much of yours! Thank you for this bill because I definitely will build it. Secondly, quick question for you, can I put the portals above an iron farm? Once again, thank you so much for helping this new Minecraft player.

Prowl, just a question to educate me in Redstone. What is that piston above the obsidian for on the clock? you clearly don't want it to move so would any block not work on that?
Redstone torches on pistons are inverted when the piston is activated. In this case, the redstone block activates the piston. No other block would work because powered blocks such as redstone blocks can't power other full blocks, only activate components like pistons. If you replaced the piston with a different block, the torch would never be inverted, so the clock wouldn't work.
Pistons are unique in bedrock edition that they toggle redstone torches without holding power to adjacent components like dispensers or even dust. Very useful for fitting 2 crossing paths in compact farms. The obsidian is completely superfluous. It doesn't matter if it moves.
The use here is that you can power the redstone torch on one leg of the clock without powering the dust, then vice-versa. Any other block that powers the torch would have kept the dust powered all the time Assuming you used something besides a redstone block that even could activate the torch!
Thanks for the answers lads... Really appreciate it .. I find redstone interesting. Can't wait to have the time to learn how to work with it in a more complex manner.
i just built this and it works great, but i have a few questions, should i use kelp blocks or bambo blocks for fuel? and how do you change it to light with lava?
Bamboo because kelp wastes a lot of fuel you will not always have 20 items at the ready. If you're on beta/preview use crafters to make planks. Grow bamboo on mud so hoppers can pick it up, direct your central hopper BACK under the pistons into an upwards-facing crafter, above that have a sideways crafter with one slot open, above that observer facing up into the piston. That is literally it, if you use mud just 3 blocks makes bamboo planks To use lava place it on 5 observers clocking themselves with trapdoors IMPORTANT: WITH BLOCKS ABOVE the trapdoors (previous versions required block above the lava or no blocks above, changes from version to version.
What a great farm and perfect timing as I will be taking down my gold farm soon to move it's location so I will try build this farm but just use 2 portals 😉 if I have the portals just above ground level and have all my storage placed underground will this still work or has everything got to be above ground? 🤔 Thanks for the great tutorial Mr Prowl 👍😎
The only thing with height is that your y has to be 2+ when standing inside the portals or zps don't spawn. Lowest part of farm (edit: portal) at y=1 or higher. Technically a bug not a feature which is why the wiki won't let that info be added, causing many a headache llllll

Love the farm, was just a bit of a inconvenience to build because some of the building materials where missing, such as water, filter items, but other than that, love the farm.
Something is completely wrong with the timing of the dispensers. And yes i saw the correction in the video. With one repeater on the botttom dispenser on one tick and two on top not a single portal lights. Ive tried adjusting it everyway i can but its still not working.
I did not expect this to work but i have a gold farm along with auto farms of sugar cane, kelp, mob loot, and iron farm, i shall wake uo with happiness
All you need on top of this farm is an iron farm with trading hall for flint, and then you get all the free materials to keep going forever (with autocrafters of course) !!
Either use a fortune III shovel while mining or in the nether or have a trading hall and bartering farm where a fletcher converts 10 gravel into 10 flint for 1 emerald (4 professions buy flint but as of 1.21 they will not buy only 1 at a time)
Take the gold you get from this farm and feed it into a piglin bartering farm. That's the only gravel farm in the game. Build silentwisperer's bartering farm. It's tiny....takes 30 seconds to build (not counting rounding up the pogmen, but you really only need one).
If you turn your collection system back under the portals you can compress the total footprint of the farm at the cost of adding some height to it. Also, autocrafters are going to massively redesign this - not just on the flint and steel side, but compressing your gold into blocks. You will still need to filter, but the output of the farm, but storage becomes a much, much smaller thing as it still will take a LONG time to fill a double chest with gold blocks (81 double chests worth of nuggets). At that level, with your ignition source being stackable as iron and flint, you can really AFK this for ages if you have the rotten flesh sorted into a trash fire. Of course, if you wanted to be more environmentally friendly, you can keep your collection system to the side and put in a villager station with a spawning platform over it to function as an iron farm with enough clerics to turn your RF into emeralds (at the new, terrible rate that isn't much better than no discount at all - but you will have a lot of RF to burn) and fishermen to sell you campfires. With a quick piston breaker you can turn each campfire into 4 charcoal (which will clear 32 smelts for you) - keeping the blast furnaces running efficiently. You would still need to, every now and then, put fresh flint into the system, but that would be your only external input need at that point (and gold, with piglin trading, produces lots of gravel). So, not completely self sustaining, but still a closed loop if you have a piglin trading setup in the Nether and a fortune 3 shovel. Definitely a worthy top tier Skyblock build.
The only thing to think about is that your AFK position needs to be past the portals and water slides for the ziglins. If you are on the other side then they will fight against the water. They won't win, but you will clog upp with say 50% more mobs in the area and this could make it lag. So make sure they try to walk towards you. In my opinion, a slightly larger gap between the portal rows is better to make sure you can fit yourself in between. If you look at the video 33:28 you see the ziglins on the right side trying to walk against the water, and the left water side walking with the flow.
Man i just wish my tridents would stay in the trident killer and not falling through or disappearing. I had 6 tridents and was using only 2 and i had 4 backups for a raid farm... now i only have 3 remaining
this video helped a lot I've been designing a 40 portal gold farm why that many? idrk myself. but I've been searching everywhere to optimize the lag as best as possible
I always had trouble with items not being taken by hoppers due to being blocked by another item in the water stream in this kind of collection system. Hopefully it works now but i used 10 allays to take the swords to smelt into ingots instead and that seems to work great
On cobblestone blocks that surround water flow areas, i put cobblestone slabs on top all around. So far it stopped other mob items clogging up my blast furnaces
@@Jimbobfred84 the block material first used to create rectangular frame 1 long side (where you place the water against) & 2 identical smaller sides, at the very top of the long row of blocks (row you placed water & the 2 sides is where to place the slabs on top of these blocks rows. the 2nd long row identical in length is glass, mobs wont spawn on glass so you won't need slabs on the top of glass row just the very top of material blocks you used in single row.
@crystalbluewaters thanks for your reply, and I appreciate your help. It's just nothing to do with mobs spawning as I play on peaceful. It just some gold nuggets/ingots always get past the hoppers due to there being a sword or other item in the same spot as the item the hopper needs to take. Therefore, it carrys on past it. Also somehow always get some stackable items in non stackable item sorting systems which blocks the smelters.
@@Jimbobfred84 for my sorters, in the top most hopper, i did the last 4 slots of a single renamed dirt from anvil & in the 1st slot put a full stack of 64 of item. It slowly dwindles down to 41 & stops. First group of 4 rows of hoppers & chests, i did raw flesh, 2nd set of 4 i did gold bars, 3rd set of 4 i did gold nuggets. I had 1 that wouldn't collect at all because the stack of 64 didnt go down to 41 & had to redo that single collection group. The rest is making sure hoppers are placed as tutorial says. Hope this helps
Thank you prowl, mines up & running😊 question though, the dispenser for flint works but the hoppers arent replenishing the empty dispenser (my chests are full of them, they're just not going into hopper into dispenser & pointy end thing is connected correctly). Im not sure where i went wrong there. For others who use ps5, i had to take out a piece of 2 portals and running only on 6 active portals & no more lag or crashing. I dont play on servers & mostly play on my own.
& if you dont build up high enough & find that your blast furnaces are clogged with other mob items, putting cobblestone slabs on the top of cobblestone blocks all around top edge will prevent other mobs spawning
It would be awesome if you dropped the specific chunk border resource pack you're using. It's useful for mobile users who can't easily be on third person view
my auto sorter is not sorting the nuggets and gold. i built lava trash cans for the flesh and swords so all i would collect is the gold. all of my red stone for the sorters look right but they’re just 50/50 on actually sorting or getting backed up.
I suspect that having as many as 4 portals in 1 chunk is too many because they may create more than 100 pending ticks per tick. I don't think that the game can process 4 max-sized portals in a single chunk ticking on a fast clock, meaning that some of the portals might be redundant.
I am going to use all this gold to make beacons and flex on my friends on the realm, but I'm mostly in it for the xp. Also dude, could you talk and move around slightly slower in the video? I have to slow it down to keep up, but slowed audio sounds annoying.

Hey prowl the farms working amazing to the point where i gotta slow it down, but a lot of my xp is getting stuck in the divot of the hopper i can’t really think of a fix since it’s a water system. any ideas?
If you want to slow it down, as said at 11:30, you can lower the tick rate of that repeater and the portals will ignite slower. Therefore, less ziglins will spawn
I recently came back to my gold farm to repair some tools, but noticed the portals were not lighting even though this farm was working perfectly the day before. Nothing in its design has changed. something changed in 1.20.5? The only thing I can think that I’ve changed is some new resource packs for changing graphics on irrelevant and non-related items.
I found out there is a current bug only allowing fire spread to go east and west and these portals are north/south. For now I’ve had to rig up some dispensers with a lot of flint and steel fed from chests.
For the first question, yes. For the second question, if you build the farm below y=30, you may have some problem, as glow squid spawn below that y level, they're going to interrupt your collection system. Edit: you can't build the farm below y=0 because the mechanic of this gold farm doesn't work below that y level.
Do you need to link the nether portals to the nether? My last gold farm i had overwolrd mobs spawning on the nether side. When you would go through the portal that was 100 blocks or so away boom! Insta kill in full enchanted netherite armor
if youre worried about overworld mobs just put some slabs or torches ontop of the portals as well as on any solid topblocks, should stop any mobs spawning and going through the portals

Other people suggested powdered snow instead of water buckets in the dispensers, this does reduce lag, you also dont need to add the extra fence gates around the dispensers because snow doesnt flow.
And lastly, one full dispenser of flint and steel will last 5 minutes roughly at full speed.
Couldn't you use buckets of lava?
@dariandoyle1053 for destroying the ink sacks? Not really unless you create a non stackable item filter for the smelters. Because the sacks would need to travel over the smelters to get to the lava, or if you put the lava first the swords would end up being burned too.
can you use a door and lava system instead of flint and steels
@@respawnnnnnnnnnnyes but you have to rebuild the portals or destroy two of them
Omg I was doubting every step of the way. I was like “does he really know what he’s doing?” or “I really hope this works” because I’m doing all this in survival and I’ll be damned. I apologize for doubting your work. I now have a working gold farm along with my working iron farm thanks to you. Awesome video!! Keep up the great work!!
Always test farms in creative, especially when it's from older versions, could save you days of work
I use 4 portals with lava-firespread-observer system to light it.

I built a quad gold farm quite some time ago (similar concept to this, with trident killer). However, every time I use the farm, then turn it off, the next time I go to the Nether, Zombie Piglins kill me before I load in. Very annoying.
Just block the nether portal so they won't pile up.
You should do your nether portal far away from the one of the farm😊

I was just gonna build your old design in my world today, perfect timing for this video
my favorite part was 7:46 when the slime just jumped off the edge of the farm lol
Works fine in ps4,a little bit laggy but works fine,i made the 8 portal with a 3 block gap and put a lava system between them, and yes you really need that much tridents and really need impaling V to the farm work better
I saw that it depends on how laggy your device is, for the amount and levels of the tridents.
@@infinite.overclocking yeah,low devices=more tridents
Does this farm still work as good ? And how many tridents do you need?
im gonna have a hopper that can be moved beneath the gold ingot storage unit so that when a lever is switched the ingots dump into a dispenser that sends the ingots into a nether portal. they’ll then be picked up by hopper minecarts beneath the portal in the nether and deposited into an automated piglen trader. the items from the trader will then be sent back into the portal via water elevator (the relm im playing on has playable fantasy races the players are assigned to and the one i play as can summon water in the nether. ive also done a similar design that used a dropper elevator to achieve the same effect) excess gold ingots go back into the gold storage, a second set of sorters for the piglan trader goods, and this gold farm can then produce SO much more then gold, xp, and rotten flesh.
ill also be building a massive villager trade hall into the storage area to exchange the rotten flesh into emeralds and then bottles of xp.
I will be building this and this size. Sad you won't have more of these on your channel any time soon.
You are a genius coming up with these farms!! Just imagine what you could come up with using the Create mod.
It should work, but of course separate and spawnproof the zone between the 2 spawners so that no iron golem nor cats gets in the gold farm.

Prowl, just a question to educate me in Redstone. What is that piston above the obsidian for on the clock? you clearly don't want it to move so would any block not work on that?
I’m not exactly sure but probably something to do with directing redstone
Any other block that powers the torch would have kept the dust powered all the time
Assuming you used something besides a redstone block that even could activate the torch!
Thanks for the answers lads... Really appreciate it .. I find redstone interesting. Can't wait to have the time to learn how to work with it in a more complex manner.
You should just use powdered snow instead of water to break the portals, easier and you dont have to worry about containing the water.
i just built this and it works great, but i have a few questions, should i use kelp blocks or bambo blocks for fuel? and how do you change it to light with lava?
Bamboo because kelp wastes a lot of fuel you will not always have 20 items at the ready. If you're on beta/preview use crafters to make planks. Grow bamboo on mud so hoppers can pick it up, direct your central hopper BACK under the pistons into an upwards-facing crafter, above that have a sideways crafter with one slot open, above that observer facing up into the piston. That is literally it, if you use mud just 3 blocks makes bamboo planks
To use lava place it on 5 observers clocking themselves with trapdoors IMPORTANT: WITH BLOCKS ABOVE the trapdoors (previous versions required block above the lava or no blocks above, changes from version to version.
This farm is insane, but one question, can you build this underground and if so, what dimensions do you recommend for this farm?
@@kevinjamesmartin4307 ground level is Y64 😉 just finished building it with storage underground and ran torch tower to switches underground. Only issue I had was the button stopping xp and swords just before the blast furnaces but sorted that out now 👍 I have storage boxes all way up to top of portal for flint/steel but they run out after 2hrs of afk which is a pain but apart from that it's working great 😎
I made it underground which turned out to perfectly hide everything so I have alot of room now, perfect
I just need to tell you you need to start editing your videos why if you made a mistake we should live it to no brother you could of erase that part its real messed up you could fix that issue
Love the farm, was just a bit of a inconvenience to build because some of the building materials where missing, such as water, filter items, but other than that, love the farm.
A few questions
1 is this good for a Xbox one
2 is water or powdered snow better
3 is flint and steel or lava better
Lava is better but makes the portals lit 24/7 and snow is better for less lag
how would you recommend building the sorting system now that autocrafters have been added?
Thanks for the gold farm you are really the best and i love how you explain how the farms work keep cooking for up😊
Something is completely wrong with the timing of the dispensers. And yes i saw the correction in the video. With one repeater on the botttom dispenser on one tick and two on top not a single portal lights. Ive tried adjusting it everyway i can but its still not working.
check how high the portal is it needs to be 22 blocks or it just doesnt light for some reason
“Don’t worry it is.” Lmao that had me cracking up for some reason
I did not expect this to work but i have a gold farm along with auto farms of sugar cane, kelp, mob loot, and iron farm, i shall wake uo with happiness
Just built this in 1.21 and can say it still works really good
All you need on top of this farm is an iron farm with trading hall for flint, and then you get all the free materials to keep going forever (with autocrafters of course) !!
The amount of times I got confused while trying to follow along in a creative world is insane... it's not your fault though Prowl, it's mine.
844 chest is crazy which is bout 26 stacks of logs or 6,928 planks 300 hoppers and chest will make the game goooo crazyyy lol
...jeeze prowl! Thanks!
While i edit my new video that im making a piglin farm, and i saw your notification about piglin farm too xD
What're the odds
Could you make a grabel/flint farm to complement this farm?
Either use a fortune III shovel while mining or in the nether or have a trading hall and bartering farm where a fletcher converts 10 gravel into 10 flint for 1 emerald (4 professions buy flint but as of 1.21 they will not buy only 1 at a time)
@@kevinjamesmartin4307 Gravel is a limited resource unlike Lava but it's faster and almost at par with the dispenser speed
@@beastofthehunt check gravity block duper tutorial using drip leaves in nether
Take the gold you get from this farm and feed it into a piglin bartering farm. That's the only gravel farm in the game. Build silentwisperer's bartering farm. It's tiny....takes 30 seconds to build (not counting rounding up the pogmen, but you really only need one).
dude this thing is so hard to keep running so i decided to get a full shulker box of flint and a full shulker box full of iron just to fill it up
Bro is it even worth it. It cost so much iron to run, you’re pretty much trading iron for gold
does it matter which direction the water flows? like does it need to flow in a positive direction?
Yeah autocrafting the nuggets into blocks is going to massively cut the need for storage
@@crystalbluewaters where do you mean? I can't see that he uses any cobblestone?
He says in the video that it’s FoxyNoTail’s markers pack
Console bedrock still doesn’t have it either 😭😭
If flint and steel is too much use lava and doors to light the portals
Does finding the chunk corner matter that much?
yes as it to do with how many mobs can spawn in a chunk i believe
When you build it anywhere do you have to know the chunks are you can leave it or do I need the mod and also I’m on a realm will it lag?
On pc btw
my auto sorter is not sorting the nuggets and gold. i built lava trash cans for the flesh and swords so all i would collect is the gold. all of my red stone for the sorters look right but they’re just 50/50 on actually sorting or getting backed up.
can you please make a auto crafter for the flint and steel.
I suspect that having as many as 4 portals in 1 chunk is too many because they may create more than 100 pending ticks per tick.
I don't think that the game can process 4 max-sized portals in a single chunk ticking on a fast clock, meaning that some of the portals might be redundant.
you can make 2 portal at each chunk and in 2*2 chunk means 4 chunks
, so that's how you can make 8 portal version of this farm
I am going to use all this gold to make beacons and flex on my friends on the realm, but I'm mostly in it for the xp. Also dude, could you talk and move around slightly slower in the video? I have to slow it down to keep up, but slowed audio sounds annoying.
Its super efficient if you put 2 killing chamber
I have just finished making this in my world. I am using 4 portals but have changed it so I can use lava and trapdoors and not flint and steel to save resources and time. This farm is so quick after about 10 minutes of using it I fought it broke but the 10 Flint an steel I put in every portal already ran out
I first did it with 8 portals, but I expanded it to 16 and double the storage and furnaces

is it worth to bring piglins 21 blocks high using water elevator and then drop them down? will that cause bigger lag? thank you
Would cause more lag because they’d be alive longer

Hey prowl the farms working amazing to the point where i gotta slow it down, but a lot of my xp is getting stuck in the divot of the hopper i can’t really think of a fix since it’s a water system. any ideas?
If you want to slow it down, as said at 11:30, you can lower the tick rate of that repeater and the portals will ignite slower. Therefore, less ziglins will spawn
I literaly spend a week building a large gold farm and now i see this one that is 3 times better😭 im still gonna build this one lol
For now I’ve had to rig up some dispensers with a lot of flint and steel fed from chests.
all 30 of my impaling five tridents disappeared in the middle of me using this...
Yes, that is part of the new update. When leaving, render/chunks Tridents now disappear.
First of all, does this still work? And secondly, can I build it underground?
For the first question, yes. For the second question, if you build the farm below y=30, you may have some problem, as glow squid spawn below that y level, they're going to interrupt your collection system.
Edit: you can't build the farm below y=0 because the mechanic of this gold farm doesn't work below that y level.
Thank you, good to know.
How would you hook it up for the nuggets to be crafted to ingots with the new crafter and then maybe even further to blocks?
Watch silent whisperer's new video for different types of crafters
Do you need to link the nether portals to the nether? My last gold farm i had overwolrd mobs spawning on the nether side. When you would go through the portal that was 100 blocks or so away boom! Insta kill in full enchanted netherite armor
if youre worried about overworld mobs just put some slabs or torches ontop of the portals as well as on any solid topblocks, should stop any mobs spawning and going through the portals
