Motoring journalists like myself would love to do this but there's the cost, getting manufacturers to sign off on it, insurance, finding and booking talented drivers, booking a circuit that would allow it, paying the camera crew etc. Much easier to arrange a drag race or do solo lap times.

James Shunt if F40 is a moded 308 , then the CTR is a moded 911 from scratch under Ruf ONLY and not even 50were produced .. porsche had absolute nothing to do with a the Ruf so yeah..Ruf is not under porsches ownership...F40 is the king of the 80s and Mass production sports cars and it's rivals was the 959 and the Lambo Countach...
Oh, don't pretend that you are pro stock race driver, you look funny! As for F40 did you know that it had LM and Competizione versions with max top speed of 228 mph (367 km/h). So it is comparable to Porsche. And in what way RUF concerns the Porsche? They are just using their cars, it is something like HKS or Mugen. Furthermore CTR tend to overseer too much, it can go only in a straight line on Autobann. The Ferrari is another story because it took part in IMSA and BPR Global GT Series, so it CAN turn!

The gtr has the most potential being turbo awd, a high boost remap would turn the results around real quick because they were limited to 280hp due to government regulations, now put the r34 gtr z tune with 500hp and it will make swiss cheese of these
yeah the rx-7 driver seemed to just lose all stamina after lap 2, he went from holding the CTR off to falling back, id say on lap one he could have overtaken the mr2 but held back , but by lap 3 he was just. nnoo
Those early FD's had a bit of an issue where the air intake sucked all the air away from the intercooler, I'd say that he was losing power with each lap as the intake air got hotter and hotter.

well its not totally the driver's fault. That nsx was not the r version There was a video on youtube where the nsr-r was *literally* dancing right behind the f40's bumper on every corner on tsukuba. Granted, the nsx-r driver was pushing himself and the car at 100%(he overreved at one point during a downshift) and it took till lap 4 for the f40 driver (tsuchiya) to go 100%. Unfortunately, at the same time the f40 got serious the nsx-r made a final overtake attempt (this was where he overreved the engine) he had the inside line but the downshift caused him to drift the whole corner. The nsx-r vs f40 battle was over at this point cuz f40 was gone on the straight. It was an intense battle. Idk if the video is still on youtube. I saw it 5 years ago AND i watched it on dvd before youtube existed. Edit: I meant VHS not DVD. My bad, im used to typing dvd a lot.

Clutch Kick I don't think it was that the MR2 is faster, rather that the driver was much better. you also have to look at the track they are racing on and how it's a benefit for a small car like the MR2...it held it's own for a lap or two but the speed output difference was too much in the end. I think the nsx just got stuck behind faster cars and decent competition
Clutch Kick that looks like the. Base nsx with the long ratio 5 transmission and super soft suspension with crappy tires. Honda later fixed all those things.

They all did! The later ones were over 550hp. Ferrari under rated the engine. It's why the F50 was considered a let down as it felt no quicker than its predecessor.
What we learnt from this video is as follows. The F40 is an animal and so much quicker thank anything back then. The 911 driver can’t drive for shit as he could hardly get past the mr2. The 512 is solid on the track as it’s not designed to be a track car. The NSX is so nowhere that it’s just laughable. The MR2 is punching well above it’s weight and the GTR is a gtr and did what we all expected. Got off to the best start due to awd and slowly went backwards.

I had an MR2 GT sw20 turbo and I was really surprised the GT-R overtook it before the first corner. Either the GT-R got an insane launch or the MR2 got a bad one or both. Those things are crazy in 1st and 2nd gear. On a good dry road they launch super hard.
I just love these guys racing. It's like Gran Turismo or Forza in real life. Racing totally different types of cars against each other you often don't expect would be able to compete and make an awesome race out of it. F40 smoked the competition though :)
And as the Ferraris and Porsche's with time now reside in carpeted collections covered in ceramic coatings and waxes, the GTR, MR2, RX7 continue to be modified and raced. Harder and faster than ever before. They say the Japanese performance cars lacked the passion and soul of the European supercars but now, today, I think they're the grandpas that continue to punch harder than anyone expected. They have soul and the stories to tell. I can bet they'll be putting up a fight for years to come.

F40 was the Fastest Car even the CTR wants to catch up the F40. The epic part is the MR2 vs CTR Battles for Position 3rd! Plus the R32 GTR gets a 3rd Place.
I don't think the driver of the CTR was really pushing, the CTR had the fastest lap time in the time attack so I would have thought it would be close to the F40. Probably the best video I've seen of the F40 though, beautiful car!

F40 was the Fastest Car even the CTR wants to catch up the F40.
The epic part is the MR2 vs CTR Battles for Position 3rd!
Plus the R32 GTR gets a 3rd Place.
I don't think the driver of the CTR was really pushing, the CTR had the fastest lap time in the time attack so I would have thought it would be close to the F40.
Probably the best video I've seen of the F40 though, beautiful car!
@@rsporsche Also, that MR2 driver really got in the way of all those beasts, but he did do quite a specular job, considering it's just "a poor man's Ferrari"
