Personally, I wish every game had custom control options. Not really sure why all games don't have it. You can't really complain about the control layout if you can just change it to whatever you want.
I think it’s more about how it makes the menus really hard to use because you’re expecting to use the Nintendo layout (A to accept B to return) and it’s the PS / XBOX layout.

It's a bit more Metroid-ey where the game is fairly straighforward at first, but then opens up more and more as you find shortcuts that connect different parts of the world.
This is an action rpg, comparing it to open world games isn’t accurate. The world is interconnected, every area connects and intertwines with others and the world can be explored almost fully at the beginning of the game assuming you pick the master key as your starting gift. Do not pick the master key if this is your first play-through, you will probably accidentally miss a lot of content if you do and do accidental sequence breaks that only veterans should attempt, it’s the starting gift for veterans, go pendent for first playthrough

@@Weeegeee212 i was told recently that it was not one of those games, so i should be fine
For the love of Gwyn, don't take the Thief AND the master key! The Thief already starts with the master key per default so you are just wasting a starting gift!
Never played dark souls until now (tried demon souls on ps3 but never really got into it). I'll be honest I was ready for packing it in after killing the Taurus demon (eventually) only to run upstairs and be fried to death by a dragon and thinking I had to kill that thing again. But thankfully wasn't the case and I'm absolutely loving it now
How does online chat work? Through the app? Plug headphones into the switch like fortnite? Not available?
This is what I want to know
There is no online chat function in the souls games, you can only leave messages on the ground that can either be used to help or trick other people.
Captain Titforce even when summoned? It doesn’t work for the app?
@@Christofly nope, there are some basic items that you can use to interact with other players but even those are obtainable towards the end game dlc. There is no actual voice chat function in the game.
Gestures ;)
Dont forget to bow
The port graphics look really dark, no? Looks like the Skyrim port in the way it was a faithful port except the low lighting.
Tom Snooze you can adjust brightness
@@benk4000 I own Skyrim on switch, and love it, but the lighting still sucks with full brightness. In a dungeon, or some places at night, you can't see bat shit unless you avoid natural light. Quite annoying, they could have at least added an ingame gamma option.
The music in this game is great shame it doesn’t sound as good on switch.
Does the audio compression greatly hinder the experience or is it barely noticeable?
After everything I've seen, personally it's a big thing for me and I'm not going to buy the game until it's fixed.
C4 Professional I wonder if headphones will help with the sound situation
Lighting on this port appears to be a bit to dark :(
I’m seeing people complain. We have friggen dark souls ON THE GO. It’s mind blowing. Anything I could have wished for was a souls series game to go portable. Never would have thought NINTENDO WOULD HAVE MADE IT HAPPEN. I’m about 20 hours in on this systems port. It’s a great port. The haters are ridiculous
Commenting five years later, tempted to finally get this game. Popping onto a popular online shopping website and this game is STILL £40! That's ridiculous.
9:33 man... You be better then this XD
(But it is too dark... Maybe increase a little bit the brightness during the video capture would be nice)
Already downloaded, just waiting until tomorrow. Can’t believe I’m excited for this since I have put 250 hours into the PC version.
Wow thats a lot of hours!!!
how is itt so faaar
Solaire of Astora confirmed for smash ultimate! Praise the sun!!
Almost lol
That is the darkest Dark Souls yet
@@FROSTB4NE graphics looked fine on the network test, wasn't that dark though!
I will never forget my first playthrough of Darksouls on the 360, goddamn what a game!
Now if only we could get the other dark souls games for switch yeah Ik it will never happen but I can still hope.
But this is just a port of the 360 version. Not an actual remaster. Digital Foundry goes over it all on their channel.
You can just click the power button and it’ll pause the game while the console is on standby
You're gameplay gave me horrible git gud anxiety.
So did your spelling
it's worth it because you can play it on the go!! tired of playing on the couch take the game to the bed! I loved my experience and it is worth it!
Until you get joycon drift.
“Doesn’t hold your hand. Or stroke your ego” hahah true a lotta ARPGs are like “Great work oh thank you no one else could have done this like you you are the chosen hero OF THE GODS”. You don’t really notice until you play a game that doesn’t do that
That music makes me so fucking hyped for this game.
Shockingly Switch Lite goodness👍
Why does people think that the A/B switch is such a problem? I constantly jump between my Switch and my PS4 and yes, it´s annoying, but it only takes a couple of minutes and you adjust. The only problem for me is when I´ve spent 4 hours straight in Hyrule and my friends want me to join them in Fortnite on PS4. You never feel as much as a noob in Fortnite as when you constantly try to jump with "Triangle" and switch weapons on the D-pad....
How do you change the confirm button to A? Does it work in the menus too?
5:03 this guy is in dark souls 3 in sacrifice road
00:41 Oh no....
A reminder for returning players or new players that love invading. make sure to give the Lord Vessel to Kaathe right after defeating four kings to join Darkwraith covenant
Thanks for the Video..I'm a Dark Souls Fan Even Though I Only Played The Second One On Ps3...but I was Wanted to play the first one and After this Video I'm Soo Excited to buy It now 💯💯
Your comment that this is the only way to experience Dark Souls in true handheld form is incorrect. I’ve been playing Dark Souls on my handheld GPD Win for over a year now.
I know I am going to be absolutely horrible at this game, but I bought it anyway because I just want to experience it first hand. I love the atmosphere this game oozes. Even if I get just through one quarter of the game I'd be satisfied.
Why does every reviewer complain about the A and B buttons!? Christ, if it was playstation you wouldn't be complaining the okay button circle. it's Nintendo, they've done A and B like that since SNES, and Dark Souls has always had the roll button be the right face button and the okay button the bottom face button, so is it really any surprise to anyone?
Personally, I wish every game had custom control options. Not really sure why all games don't have it. You can't really complain about the control layout if you can just change it to whatever you want.
I think it’s more about how it makes the menus really hard to use because you’re expecting to use the Nintendo layout (A to accept B to return) and it’s the PS / XBOX layout.
Is it all on the cartridge or do you have to download part of the game like other good games?
Hey man just a tip, the game really shouldnt be that dark might want to turn that shit up. ~ a dark souls veteran 2k hours in ds1
hard to run and rotate screen at a same time? or its just me?
Also one more thing, he is making it seem a lot harder than it really is.
I don’t really get the online.
I don’t know how to matchmake, or how to play with friends. It confuses me.
1st step. Get friends
Is the frame rate still at 30fps in blight town? The "laggyist" part of the game
Mr. K gamexplain did a blight town video and it runs pretty good better than other versions.
@@satansibles8765 I bought it like 20 minutes after I posted that went straight to blight town and it was like MAJOR lag spikes, like it would straight up freeze for a second and skip around on me. A few times its crashed my switch. Not sure if it's my switch or just the game. My consoles about 2 years old now
Mr. K damn wtf yeah I dunno I was just going off gamexplains video it didn't look too bad when they showed it are you playing docked or hand held?
@@satansibles8765 handheld, I'm not gonna bother doing any testing in docked I have 6 copys of ds1 so yeah...
Mr. K yeah fair enough trade it in. I just watched a review from ign but I don't really trust ign but gamexplain are credible somewhat they also say blight town runs fine compared too the originals. Was gonna be buying this next payday but now you got me concerned 😨
the main point of this version is handheld mode, yet no handheld footage in this review
I like this better on switch than on xbox one. This is a game that definately benefits from a smaller screen.
How big is the map? This doesn't appear to be an open world like Skyrim lol. Is the map size comparable to say a titan from Xenoblade 2?
How can you tell it is a faithful remaster if you've clearly never played the first one?
How do you come to use thief then choose the master key
Apparently he said here the game doesnt explain much. He probably didn't know.
He also said he's bad at the game.
Is the graphical quality of dark souls on the switch good?
Yes.
Fuck no. They added more glitches. I can't answer "Yes" to Oscar and Solaire. Didn't check out other NPCs. I rage quitted. They had 8-9 month to make a proper port, but what???? MORE GAMEBREAKING GLITCHES EYYYYYYYYYYY
I enjoyed your presentation here, even if you were adapting one of your colleague's work. Hope there are more good videos like this on this channel, subbed so I can check it out. :) **EDIT** I do plan on getting this game, and it will be my first foray into the Dark Souls series.
Too bad the sound of the entire game is downsampled to 22kHz meaning the entire soundtrack sounds dull because higher frequencies are simply cut off. They probably did this to get the game size down to
This looks like a copy and paste comment from the IGN review
@@Oceanandskylinevidss That's because I posted the same comment on several videos to inform as many people as I can about this.
I don’t know what all the complaints were about I played it today and it ran and sounded fine to me
oh great another review comparing something to dark souls
I will remind you:
You suck at Dark Souls, Mr. Olney
(But so do I)
Stand down, commander.
Nintendo Life Ha!
Ay, Captain!
Dark souls is so Dark. Damn
Ok you’ve sold it to me. Just ordered and I’ll be picking up tomorrow but I’ll probably finish spider-man and rdr2 before I get to it ...
I am so hyped. Can't wait to see all the core Nintendo only gamers bitching about how unfair the game is.
Besides Ornstein & Smough the game isn't that bad. Just gotta have some patience and a tear bucket nearby.
The fact that I’ve seen more than one of these and it goes to a dsr on switch review to just a dark souls review must mean it doesn’t feel that different thx
How does the difficulty compare to Dark Souls?
Demon souls
It's okay, I share your aggravation about A and B being swapped.
Is switch have like ps plus in playstation?
That makes literally no sense
Third time buying this game. wow
Of course it's worth it you nut case. This is a super deep and fun AAA game for the switch. You have to be a fool not to get it. And I'm really terrible at Souls games but I still enjoy them so nobody has an excuse not to get this.
It hurts to know he likely didn’t spec to get the most out of that Balder Side Sword
12:13 that's what my friends who have beat the game are for!
Why pick master key when you already have it on theif
Giving the thief a master key lmao
Contains fairly graphic scenes of violence ? When ? Is Elsie being all delicate and sensitive again ?
I think that Baulder knight died of old age long before you hit it lol.
My guy knows thief is broken early cause of master key and bleed damage dex build
360p squad where you at?
