- It is often beneficial to change the drive belts in your car approximately every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. By undergoing annual car inspections, you can have your drive belts evaluated. If any signs of damage or severe wear and tear are identified, the belts can be replaced.
Bad Serpentine Belt Symptoms
There are many signs that your car’s serpentine belt may need to be replaced, and these include:
Squealing noise from the front of your car
Power steering stops working
Air conditioning stops working
Engine overheats
Cracking on the belt
The idler pulley is a common part that's found on the majority of the vehicles on the road. Its primary function is to provide tension and guide the engine drive belt. These belts wrap around the various parts of the engine such as the power steering pump, alternator, water pump etc..

Wow. Need about another 1" of clearance to get that idler pulley off. I was able to replace my belt from the top. 2011 Optima 2.4. I spun and inspected my idler pulley. Glad I didn't have to replace it.
I was hoping I can remove it without dealing the engine mount, but it wasn’t too bad. Thanks for watching.
Nice video. Very helpful. Given that a serpentine belt kit includes two idler pulleys and the tensioner, why was only one pulley replaced?
OEM parts don’t sell serpentine belt kit, belt and pulley can buy separately. Thanks for watching.
Why not adjusting nuts to torque specs?
I thought I did.
