- Here’s a pretty rare bird! This is a very early Canadian Sand cast Airchime K3H. This horn dates to the early 60s which is very early for this style horn. Currently the number 1 bell has a slight warble still but is much better compared to when I first got it.
That warble makes the horn sound wicked.
I think so too!
Glad this ended up at a good home, and not back under another truck.
the warble gives it that vintage feel
I really love the warble on it, I've never seen a Canadian K3 with the ribbed back caps before. All it needs is to be paired up with a Canadian style GMD Bronze Bell
Wow, awesome horn! It really has a retro sound to it with that warble. Definitely is a more unique K3L than narrow font or raised letter ones.
Best sound 5:15 to 5:21. Bone chilling. I enjoy the musical interval this one produces...my favorite of the 3 chimes. What else can be done to address the warble?
Yea this one is defiantly nice. Other than machine work a diaphragm shim is a possible fix as well as experimenting with different cushion rings.
Does the leslie s3k play the same notes?because they sound very much like each other
OOO yes
I worked for the company to replace BC Hydro (SRY Rail Link) and also have a BC Hydro Leslie S3L, 1 of 7 they had in total! Very awesome video man, keep it up!
Great channel.
Excellent detailed information.
I miss hearing these CN Sandcast versions!
Sounds really awesome, makes me think CN, or CP

Do you know where I could find a 2nd Gen K5LA. I’m trying to make a K5LA Hybrid and I plan on also buying a straight 3 bell off a K3L.
I want to this horn haw much brother k3h horn
LA KINGS GOAL
Hi HornKing, so when they sound like that with that warble like this horn is it because the small duct that goes from the foot of the bell to the power chamber is a little blocked? Or did I misunderstand? Regards
No warbling is caused by wear on the surface of the seat/nozzle and diaphragms. Over time they wear down. It can be remedied sometimes with new diaphragms or shims
@@TheHornKing ok thank you very much
