    Reminder that imported goods to the UK won't see any unexpected custom fees if they are worth less than £135.

    Buyee are scamming customers on their "protective packaging" service. They will charge you the fee but not doing anything.
    This has happened many times to me. I requested a set of photos before adding protective packaging, and another set of photos after adding. They are exactly the same!! No change of weight at all!!
    On their freight, they overcharge for shipping.
    Buyers beware.

      I have ordered buyee protective packaging several times and I actually have the opposite complaint. They put so much bubble wrap and such in the box it ends up huge and I have to pay way more for shipping (like 4x the size of a box if there was no bubble wrap). That being said, the items came in pristine condition so I'm not actually complaining.

    Just wanted to add a note! I mentioned briefly that neokyo has sped up regarding mercari purchases but I wanted to say that neokyo are now super fast buying mercari orders~ usually in less than a day but sometimes it can be within the hour!
    Edit:
    Also they upped the amount you can change the package value amount by, you can now change it to up to 10% of its original value (and they stopped including the service fee in the value!)

      some countries receive customs which means they have to pay a fee based on the package value (the higher the value the more you pay) so some people like to change the value to try to avoid getting this fee or lowering the amount they have to pay for it ^^

      They aren't very open, but if you looked into their user guides properly you'd have anticipated it. Sometimes it's acceotable, and even cheaper, compared to other services. It's really a case by case situation. But customer service and service fee on other platforms are far far better. Matter of seeing the estimates and taking a leap.

    I order from buyee when buying very expensive items. Thought the paypal fee is higher, it is limited. It's not a % of the total price. For expensive items, I also like that I can specifically choose for insurance. This may not be the best strategy, but I feel a bit safer. I also use it for pre-ordering Japanese kpop albums in order to get pobs, and on their free buyee service fee promotions. Otherwise, I would rather not use them. Convenience is not necessarily worth as much as they charge.

    Personally, I used Neokyo for buying special controllers that I normally wouldn't get here in the U.S.A. (i.e., Nintendo Switch Online controllers, especially the Nintendo 64 one), and in the two experiences with Neokyo (hopefully three real soon), I enjoyed the processes with them myself. Granted, buying in bulk does mean you're going to have to pay more for them, but if you want just one thing to get there, it's actually great for finding things you can't get in the U.S.A. at all for one reason or another!

      recently the prices on mercari have gone up a lot in general and especially for certain groups, a year ago you could easily find entire sets for really cheap but now it's a bit harder. but there's some other advantages, like pcs from Japan are typically in really good condition and you can still occasionally find really good deals!

    The video was great !!! very helpful. So I buy a lot of fishing tackle from Japan, including oversized packages such as rods etc. I’ve used Buyee a couple of times, and it’s been hellishly expensive ... and I’ve had a few packages (rod tips etc) arrived broken after adding protective packaging, and they also don’t allow consolidation of things like rods, which you can easily fit 2 or 3 into a fedex tube, and I’ve also used DHL for this use too.
    I’ve never used or heard of Neokyo, do you think they would be any better and would also allow me to request certain packaging options and consolidation??

    • @ChessyBlossom
      @ChessyBlossom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you! I myself have never tried ordering anything fishing related or any items that would be similar to the items you're looking to order so I can' help in regards to that but in terms of protection neokyo is usually pretty good at giving the items good protection! I'd recommend getting in contact with neokyo directly (either through twitter or through contacting their support team) to get answers to your other questions as I don't want to give false information. Hope this helps!

      it depends on what website you're buying from but assuming youean mercari, I'm not sure about filtering it out but on posts it should somewhere 'shipping included' if the domestic fee is included in the cost! if it doesn't say that it means there will be an additional fee ^^

    • @OnlyGrafting

      For Yahoo Auctions it'll say if the bidder/winner pays the fee or not. But if you want to know the fee you need to glance at the JP page and translate it with google lens. Usually it'll be easy to spot with a number, but it can have varying prices for locations it's headed within Japan so its always worth a gander.

      The 500 yen fee isn't included but UK customs usually include the price of shipping! It depends on which proxy service you're using, if you're using buyee you can't change the value. For japonica market you can just email them telling them what value you'd like to change it to and neokyo will let you change it before confirming and paying for the shipment (you can only change it up to 90% less of the original value). but changing the value doesn't guarantee you won't get customs! it just makes it less likely depending on the value you change it to

      with each purchase there's a 250 yen service fee and when compiling orders into a package there's also a small fee of 500 yen, but you can set the package value to up to 90% less than the total! so if youre worried about customs that feature can help and the overall service fees are less than buyee~

      It used to be 70% but they upped the limit! I can't say for sure but I think Japonica would be cheaper, and even if it wasn't the difference between the 2 wouldn't be a lot but with japonica there's no limit for setting the package value (you just tell them the amount) so I think Japonica might be better in that case!

      @ChessyBlossom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cant make a video since I've never used it and atm don't plan on trying other proxy services! but from a look at their website and read through of how their service works it looks like sendico works similarly to neokyo (waiting for validation before paying) but has a 500 yen service fee rather than 250. it also states you can change the package value but packages won't be sent as gifts so if you have customs that may limit your options. consolidation fee is 500 yen and there's additional options for protective packaging (which also have a cost). but as I've never used their service I can't say how fast or good it is 😅

      Hi! Do you mean the package description? If you buy only pcs it'll be written as 'trading cards' and if you buy an album it'll be 'CD'. If you meant something else please let me know :)

    • @ChessyBlossom
      @ChessyBlossom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not too sure about this as I've only received 1 package from neokyo so far and it only included paper inclusions but this week I'm getting a couple more so I might be able to give a better answer then. But if you buy 4 albums from the same place using neokyo it counts as 1 order but if you bought 4 albums from different places it would count as 4 so I would guess they'd write the number of orders as the album count instead of the amount of albums itself

    Hi. I have been using Buyee for a while and have found them to be reliable. But then all of a sudden they want to charge me £200 (33,000JPY) domestic shipping fee (From seller to warehouse) for an item I paid £8 for. This has come out of the blue. There has been a total lack of transparency and honesty in this instance, whereby the Buyee sales page did not mention any such shipping fee. I am in an email conversation with them now however Buyee have shown absolutely no interest in tackling this matter or even in the potential of a criminal fraud being committed. Buyee has seriously let me down and I have lost all confidence and faith in them - I don't want to be cheated nor be the victim of a crime. I am now seriously considering just abandoning the item in their warehouse. Has anyone else here done this? What are the consequences? Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

      I've been went through a problem like this with buyee. I had 22000 domestic shipping fee and I talked to buyee assistant for a week about this problem but the result was we can't help you so pay the money anyway. I don't use buyee for an year after I scammed by domestic shipping fee and the protective packaging service. I just proceeded package consolidation after I checked a default delivery service but buyee gave me 5500 yen shipping fee for 2000 yen item because they just proceeded protective packaging. I sent email about cancellation for protective packaging service but they just skipped my mail and didn't refund me eventhough it was before they package the item. They are total scam. There are tons of proxy service that provides much cheaper fee compared to buyee. Pls don't used buyee. They are SCAM.
