I've got a bunch of recipes from Maangchi but sadly there isn't a piece of kimchi to be found in my part of Brooklyn... Will have to wait until post covid to head to a Korean grocer in Manhattan or Queens and make that kimchijjigae! Also japchae has been on the top of my list for months!
As a korean food lover since 2009 AND a vegan, I love this video. So glad I found this video 😍 I have been cooking korean food at home for years. Btw your mom is so adorable❤
You'd be surprised but my ussr grandma made me this "korean" coffee when i was like 7 years old... It was quite popular dessert in 90s because it requires 3 cheap ingredients :)
you're the best! thanks for the daily uploads given everyone's quarantine situation. also side note - to make the traditional base stock water, you only need to boil water with dried kelp (seaweed) and dried anchovies (no degutting needed), then remove all contents and make broth with the dried soybean paste or gochuchang afterwards.
That rice water thing, we call it "hugas bigas" in the Philippines. We wash the rice before cooking and thats the water from it. Didnt know we can drink that. Cool
Lol a frother on amazon costs 6-10 dollars! It’s well worth it.... and I’m obsessed with whipped coffee- I use oat milk and instead of sugar is use maple syrup 🤤🤤🤤 and yallllll it slaps 👏🏼
Originally came to your channel for your shuffle videos, but I LOVE Korean food and have been making it a lot lately (#quarantinelife), so it's great to see this video!! :D
I love your videos, they always brighten my days no matter how I am feeling, you always make me feel loved and positive!! Keep doing what you're doing and be the great person that you are! Can't wait to see what the future holds for you, I know you are gonna get more huge on here with your great content! Take care during these crazy times and I hope for love and health for you, your family, and JASPER!!!!
@Carol I don't think the younger generation do as much since eating out is relatively cheap there & they have a more collectivist culture, many result to eating out, ordering side dishes or having parents potentially bring some home. Obviously a large majority may know alot of common/popular dishes like kimchi etc... especially from their childhood but other than that I believe alot result to ordering in or going out.
I actually love Korean food in fact I enjoy most Asian cuisines. I can’t eat “American” food and most of meals consistent of rice, noodles , vegetables and fish
It all looks great! Ive been pan frying tofu and broccoli for the past few days with some onions and top it with mustard or mix an avocado in their its so good! Tell Jasper i said hello :)
@@justjoelee man this is so hard when you are in an area with confirmed positive cases of coronavirus. As much as I want to go out and buy something from grocery shops, I opt to stay indoors. Plus, oh dear, everyone is hoardinggggg goods. Hahaha.
I feel ur pain with the packaging, I like in Kyoto and it drives me insane how everything has plastic... or multiple layers of plastic (i.e cookie wrapped in plastic in a plastic tray in a plastic package, then they really quickly put it in a plastic shopping bag for you 😣 even when I legit have my backpack out, one of the quickest thing I learned in Japanese was “no bag please”)
Here's where the recipes are from: th-cam.com/users/Maangchi
I enjoy making Korean food. I love it !
I honestly thought you got recipes from your mom. :) still Maangchi is great :)

Is the fermented soy bean paste the same as miso paste? Or that’s specifically Japanese? same same but different?

Hey! Do Filipino food next. It’s the shizzzzz
I don't think I've every had filipino food, any recommendations?
Pancit or adobo. Both are very common Filipino dishes, and there are tons of recipes online to follow.
