Amp-limited racing sounds like it could be a really interesting for professional racing, since it encourages more efficient quads without being too specific on how the hardware must be modified.

This might be my favorite episode for 2019.
I was hoping at the end they would have flown one without the fuse just to see how far ahead Alex would be on a straight up race. I thought MinChan was the fastest. lol

3rd Person Piloting.
Two pilots fly a course, one in front of the other, but they both view the video feed from the quad at the back, meaning both pilots have to work in perfect unison to complete the couse.
I need to see this. Or do it myself, although it sounds very scary. It's like a trust exercise.
Tiny whoops would be ideal for this challenge due to the high propensity for crashing.
Also, you could have equally just as much doing this without flying - both people walk the course whilst wearing goggles tuned into a tiny whoop which is stuck to the goggles of the person walking behind.

On the same theme, see who's the most efficient flyer - all participants fly the same quad around a race course for a few laps or have to do the same sequence of tricks. The winner is the one that used the least amount of battery capacity as reported by the OSD at the end.

I've heard from a number of people now that flying analog alongside the dji hd blows your feed out. I think that may be the case here.
Also, djis are gonna add some weight. Us short course racers are shaving off every gram.

@@fastodon2436 I think that's exactly it. DJI transmits at 800 mW IIRC (and up to 1200mW), analog is usually used at 200 mW. Of course it's gonna completely blow out your feed... Also, I'm pretty sure that DJI's system runs on a larger bandwidth and/or frequency hops, which would cause massive issues for analog.

Awesome episode. This is the type of episodes that made RR popular back in the day with the old crew. Glad to see y’all guys doing the fun shit and,,,, not the over and over and over and over and over DJI shit.
I'm glad you liked the ep but to be honest there is no more or less DJI in this episode than any of the others. All we do is, do the same epic shit as always, while using DJI gear. Corey and me are using DJI in this episode. So IDK what makes this episode feel better to you than the others but anyway, glad you liked it :-)
Joshua Bardwell ,, yeah you guys using DJI but it’s not content specific to DJI. DJI is hot shit right now,,, I got it. I’m not against what DJI is about. However,, I think by now we all got the point on how good it is.

This was great content boys, good job. Looking through the comments I think few people are catching the implications here about learning how to race: Limit yourself and learn how to fly a line. Buying the fastest quad you can find isn't going to win you races. I know that racers know this to be true, but it bears repeating

You can use a throttle cap in the fc but not set it to "scaled". Actually you can make like a reverse hockey stick looking curve in the taranis as well.

I had to develop a drone a couple years back and there was a concern with safety because of proximity to people and the custom hardware & software being developed on it, especially while being tested before the final product. We used 10A ATC fuses like that for them because they never popped when the drone operated normally, but would pop if the drone hit something, bugs in the software had it start flying too aggressively, or as a very simple disarming ability for when someone took manual control of the system and was not used to a disarming switch, so even novice users could use it without having to worry about panicking and hitting someone or flying away because they would panic, the fuse would blow and it would plop down on the floor. Sometimes the simplest solutions work the best.
I wish I could fly about Vanover! He is like a robot!

Throttle cap only caps the stick input you can still pitch, roll, yaw at full power as the controller doesn't limit the max speed of each motor.

New to flying drones but got hook quick bought a DJI mini2 🥱 definitely want one of those quads
I used old 60C 1300 4S packs to practice smooth lines. It really helped and I wasn't even going that slow.

This couldbe a good idea for protecting ESC's in crashes...... a voltage spike would pop the amp therefore protecting the ESC from burning out, I thought that's what this video was gonna be able TBH

Put a blasting cap in parallel whith the fuse so when the fuse blows all the current gose through the cap. But in shure josh already figured this one out.😉

Being that Vanover raced in DRL where momentum was very important and those quads were pigs (comparitively speaking) when u tried to change directions. He is used to having to rely on racing lines and minimize prop-spin, rather than point and shoot. So this is a no brainer that he would win with an amp fuse.
