That’s definitely true fresh water doesn’t normall kill electronics but salt even if powered off straight away continues to eat at your circuits great video a lot of good info 👍
Salt water is corrosive and eats through stuff. Scuba divers rinse all their gear in fresh water for the same reason: to keep it all in working order for as long as possible (and to combat funky smells).
I mean 1 good video amongst a plethora of several meh ones if the trend continues into say, 10 videos thag i enjoy then yes id say theyrr going back in the right direction....
I remember a time when Drew would just leave his charger and batteries hanging from the back of his truck, and loose them. Now, he jump starts boats with them. Talk about progression! Nice backflip at the end....lol
Great work guys. Real world applications make great content. When people ask me what is FPV, I’ll share videos like these, it captures the excitement of the hobby.
Great content guys. just a suggestion for the over heating of the components when closed in, instead of the fan that will eventually act as a convection oven and circulate the heat, you can use waterproof membranes like Gortex that allow the hot air to escape without letting water in. i personally use a Splashdrone 3 ot Spry+ for my water shots and it has never leaked and i have gone under water with these drones by crash flipping them upside down and reversing the controls. i managed to go about 5 feet under water before the signal cuts out and it floats back up
I need one of those aquacopter frames... *right now.* Please bring this back into production, I'd pay premium frame prices for that! Especially if it was air unit compatible! It would be incredible to have a quad designed purely for over water, as long as its completely sealed - durability wont even matter much as you'll probably not fly it around anything hard besides water and boats. Will definitely reopen up a side of fpv that has gone missing for a few years now.
I lost a quad in the lake at Barber Park in Orlando last August and I had abondened all hope of it being salvageable once it touched the water. Now this video gives me hope! I'm not in the area anymore but please do a video where you recover it and make it fly again, that would be incredible! Better yet, use an FPV submarine to find the wreck at the bottom!
Being an electrician...I’m curious to know why you think unplugging the battery under water does anything different? Maybe because the resistance is lower in a full body of water than when you pull it out with a small amount of water on it? I don’t know if it makes a difference. Another note lol, “I flown with a couple water bottles before” was funny Hannover
Assuming your quad is submerged - the water provides the shortest path for current to flow between the pads where the XT60 is soldered to, rather than going through the electronics. If you pull it out of the water, you remove that path, letting more current flow further through the electronics where it's more likely to cause short damage. Sound right?
For those asking why unplug underwater....it’s simple...pulling it free you add the missing component for fire...Oxygen...immediately upon hitting air...whatever is under a charge, and shorting, may start to burn! ....also I’ve tried the bucket of rice to extract moisture from a drowned quad (not to mention my iPhone) and it worked pretty well...the aforementioned fire hazards notwithstanding
They should call that product You Might Get Her Back !!!!! Ha ha 😂 seriously though I hope Shawn get his quad back. Hopefully it comes to the surface before you’re done the shoot I’m still watching eagerly !!!!!
You know what's strange, I crashed my 2.5in drone on christmas witch it had been snowing the night before but everything mostly dried up at that point so I took me about 5 mins to find it top down in the only puddle on my street, and no indication of life was left in it. I took it back inside put it in front of my fan for about 18 hours and walla good as new and that was without conformal coating. Then another time I plugged in another drone and before I could even take off I'd say less then 2 mins the thing goes up in flames for no apparent reason so I feel your pain!!!😕
I finally beat RR to something! Me and my bud did this last year and and make videos it was so much fun and im getting to do it again in a month! We even got to chase wake-borders and tubers. I cant believe it took them this long before they did it lol.
Nice flying. Loved the wakeboarder shots, especially. With as much rain as we get here in the PacNW, the Aquad/conformal coating should definitely be on my radar.
After the quad if left over night to dry, you should not plug it with a lipo, in case there's a heavy shortcut things could get a lot worse since it can provide a lot of current. Use a limited/protected bench power supply...
To prevent rusting and really dry out your quad, use those beads to dehumidify closets. Put the beads in a container that can be sealed air tight, put some chopsticks inside to prop up your quad, put the quad in and seal it up for a few hours. After that, your quad would be bone dry and it won't rust.
So glad I watched this. I dunked my toothpick in the lake last sunday and knew to unplug it underwater. After a quick stint in the oven it's back in the air.
Yep that's work for me more than 10 times.every time I crash in to water always I unplug my quad in the water.I don't know how it's work, but I did it naturally. Never damaged my components.
I needed this video.. I live on a lake year-round.. I've been wanting to do this for a while now.. I do patrol for the big Shootout every year and want to get some footage of the race boats..
Ha! All I need is a bottle to make good use of all the analog stuff I've been pulling out since Vista's release... but since a bottle works so good, I wonder.. how well does a Vista and cam put up with being dunked??
If you go down in salt water, rinse with fresh water thoroughly ASAP for the best chance of survival.
That’s definitely true fresh water doesn’t normall kill electronics but salt even if powered off straight away continues to eat at your circuits great video a lot of good info 👍

@@jack_is_bored5091 Yes, and salt water is conductive. Most of our Scuba gear isn't! :-)
or rubbing alcohol? Not for the motors though I heard, and not if your electronics contain plastics maybe.
Is distilled water better?
Best vid since the og members left. Looks like RR is going in the right direction.
I mean 1 good video amongst a plethora of several meh ones if the trend continues into say, 10 videos thag i enjoy then yes id say theyrr going back in the right direction....
Hi, I'm new to fpv. Who were the og members and where are they now ?
@@cacamacaaa charpu, Mr.Steele, FinalglideAU and ummagawd
@@cacamacaaa There's a guy that has interviews with most of the people from RR and TBS and fatshark. Pretty great channel
Who's the guy with the interview ?
Actually this is one of the best episodes you have ever done imo😍
Thanks, Tim. We had fun making it
Yeah WAAAAY better than Chernobyl!! Lol
How about dem guns kwads?
This is the Rotor Riot everyone wants...smiling and yelling at each other with excitement and camaraderie.
I remember a time when Drew would just leave his charger and batteries hanging from the back of his truck, and loose them.
Now, he jump starts boats with them.
Talk about progression!
Nice backflip at the end....lol
Guys the last take looked like a video game? Wow great flying and a fun interesting vid guys! Long live Rotor Riot!❤️👍🏻😀😀👏👏👏🍾🍾🍾🍾
THIS!!!! this is the RR ive been missing, hands down the best video on rotor riot since the og crew
This needs to be a thing. Surf + FPV is where I want to go 🏄♂️
Great work guys. Real world applications make great content.
When people ask me what is FPV, I’ll share videos like these, it captures the excitement of the hobby.
Your energy and the amount of fun in this video is great. Loved it!
That wakeboarding footage that Vanover did is just too sick
Following the wake boarders was sooooooo sick !!!
Best Episode since month
Does this count as a USO?
(Unidentified Submersible Object)

Nice! That footage at the end with her jumping those waves was insane! She's a beast at those jumps! Great footage..👍👍

Awesome episode. Dallas Friday was on FIRE!!
Best episode so far. Waterproof drones neeeeeed to be a thing
YES this needs to be a thing. The drone surfing the boats wake was SICK!!
Eines der besten Videos!!! Da bekommt man sofort lust seiner Drohne ne Flasche drunter zu schnallen.
Best episode in a while, nicely done boys
Thx Hugo. We had a lot of fun
Rcade killing it again!!!!
Best tech/outdoors mashup I've seen yet 👍👍 subscribing! Good work guys
I loved this video, definitely the best video from RR in years
That sequence in the end, pure gold guys 👏
Oh no not water 💦😱💦
I didn’t fly over water yet but this bottle scenario will twist my arm 😂
The aquacopter totally needs to be a thing! It will be sold out before it hits the shelves. That footage of the pro wake boarders was awesome too.
That's why we're all here, for the joy of flying. Great video, keep up the amazing work.

that part had me laughing

One of the best episodes in a while imo
Absolutely looove this episode. Been a minute since you guys been on an advanture.
Great job Shawn!!! Killer video Guys!!!
That was sick going under the bow while it was moving... looks crazy
Best episode from you guys in a long while, prolly because there was more than 1 person lol
yep, this was a good one! Would love to see some generic water protection casing for drones in production!
So, now we need to see a small wake board attached to the bottom of one of these and have it ride the wake and get some Acro off it😈
this is the kind of video that made me want to get into flying quads in the first place! love it guys keep these coming👍❤️

That was the best video you made !!! Amazing
im amazed with the videos you make as i am entering the drone society. so much kbowledge to get from.

Glad to see you guys enjoying summer! Wake boarding FTW! Awesome vid guys!
OMG the last part with wakeboarders, i want to see more of this from Rotor Riot O.O !!!
The editing, music, shots are perfect! Epic shit! Im glued to your channel! 🤙
holy shit that wake boarding footage!!!!!!!

That fpv tan line is on point 👌 👏 🙌 💯 🔥
I love you guy's, this one reminded me of revenge of the nerds. But definitely worth it and needed to be talked about

Someone should make it a meme :D
Science
They should call that product You Might Get Her Back !!!!! Ha ha 😂 seriously though I hope Shawn get his quad back. Hopefully it comes to the surface before you’re done the shoot I’m still watching eagerly !!!!!
Epic. I thought this one would be boring but you guys made it fun ! Well done....
holy cra.. the footage withe the wakeboarder and surfer is amazeballs.. like.. seriously :D
Very cool chase video. Water proof quad looks really fun. 💦😎
Great episode!
Been awhile since such quality content. Nice!
Great episode guys. Enjoyed watching this way more than some of the other recent stuff
So much better then the sticky dusty corrosion x that I use and great tip to unplug under water I have never heard of that cheers drew 👍
Leaving comment because good community engagement is good for the channel.
Cade literally submerged his drone and it’s ok😂 then when I finish a build I burn up and esc and a VTX within the first flight😂😢😂
I think you just described my first three years of Fpv in one sentence and some emojis
You know what's strange, I crashed my 2.5in drone on christmas witch it had been snowing the night before but everything mostly dried up at that point so I took me about 5 mins to find it top down in the only puddle on my street, and no indication of life was left in it. this episode is nutz guys !!!
My boy out here diving boats. From one RCade to another, big ups.

So much fun. :) Also keep in mind that if you hit waves or turn suddenly the quad pilot has no idea. Very weird feeling.
Glad to see you guys getting used to flying over water, Florida has tons of it! Lol. Can’t wait to see you guys fly the Wekiva River!
Excellent fun! Always wanted a water proof drone! One of your best videos! 💪💪👊👊
Thanks guys, great content!!
that unplug underwater thing is really helpful, did i just learn something today?
Bardwell wants to know your location
so much fun to watch
end of the part Awesome
You guys are as red as a tomatoe!! That looked like a whole lot of fun!!
everything besides, amazing footage by the way!
Nice flying. Loved the wakeboarder shots, especially. With as much rain as we get here in the PacNW, the Aquad/conformal coating should definitely be on my radar.

Sweet video guys! So enjoyable, keep up the vibes! 🤟🏼
Oh shit Shawn can wakeboard not bad for an old guy
Seriously, seriously, great f***ing video! You guys keep me sooo motivated. Fly on bros!
Absolutely sick
So glad I watched this. I dunked my toothpick in the lake last sunday and knew to unplug it underwater. After a quick stint in the oven it's back in the air.
This one was cool 😎 have to admit it had me engaged!
You guys are having way too much fun I can’t watch at work anymore lol
I have been asking for it, at last!
Great job as always guys!
Great episode guys!
Wow, awesome video!! Be careful with the sunburns also
That was a fun video! Well done guys! 👍🏻
I had the same reactions as Le Drib the whole time :D
came for the science boi knowledge.... stayed for the edit good job you two
Great video
Awesome wakeboard shots!!! Love the bottle solution too :o)
This was a good one guys!
Yep that's work for me more than 10 times.every time I crash in to water always I unplug my quad in the water.I don't know how it's work, but I did it naturally. Never damaged my components.
Cool video guys.
Made me laugh so hard at the end when you're all sunburnt hahaha, just looked funny.
Peace
Amazing. Great job
Amazing vid! I'm not an oldtimer but i still do conformal coating, even for camera (except the sensor and lens, obviously)
That was nuts! Great episode. Who's gonna be the first to invent the watertight, buoyant drone frame?
Bad ass shots
vanny’s more buff than i expected lmao
I needed this video.. I live on a lake year-round.. I've been wanting to do this for a while now.. I do patrol for the big Shootout every year and want to get some footage of the race boats..
Lake of the Ozarks Shootout.. check it out..
Ha! All I need is a bottle to make good use of all the analog stuff I've been pulling out since Vista's release... but since a bottle works so good, I wonder.. how well does a Vista and cam put up with being dunked??
