We were planning to go there, but we have a 5 months old baby and heard that babies are not allowed.. Sure there is a reason behind that and I understand that by watching your video.. Need to wait for few more years.. Anyway hope you people had an unforgettable experience there and enjoyed well.. Better not to stop exploring different places and adventures till our circumstances, wealth and health is not allowing us to do so...

We're planning on going here next month but none of us have hiking boots as the website says is required. Any idea how strict they are on using sneakers instead?

Hi Andrew, I went in this walk last year and I think the hiking boots rule had just been introduced due to the high possibility of injuring your ankle due to the uneven terrain. There were a couple on our tour who didn't bring hiking boots and were able to borrow a pair from the tour centre. However I don't know how many pairs the tour centre have available or what sizes. As far as I know hiking boots are a must, but I would ring them first and see if you can borrow some. My wife and I bought some cheap ones especially for this. I hope you enjoy it.

@@thelifeofriley6890 thanks for getting back to me. We'll go pick up some cheap pairs just to be sure. Looks like a great time wouldn't want to miss it.

I wouldnt bother going. You cant appreciate it. It used to be open for locals to use. Its just a business. Not my kind of thing anyway. At least there was some adventure before they fixed it up

It could have been really cool via ferrata. Whats up with all the bridges. Meh

Please note the over the top 'health & safety' (only organised groups allowed, hard hats must be worn, hiking boots only, no bags, no camera bags, no selfie sticks, etc...). The one surprise is that the group is not all roped together! You're not allowed to take take your own time to appreciate the peace. 'Enter at your own risk' is all that visitors need to be told. It's completely put me off visiting.

Granted health and safety is tight at the Gobbins, however can you imagine how difficult it would be to evacuate someone who has injured themselves because they were taking a selfie and not paying attention to their footing.

Yeah,I was looking forward to revisiting the place,as it was a regular destination for a hiking club I was in at school.
We were able to get beyond the "hoop bridge",as far as the main cave.
On reflection,we were probably risking life and limb, but no-one ever came to any harm.
I was told that the guides on the restored walk are quite officious, and seem to be quite smug when refusing admission.
That put me off going, coz I would want to do it at my own pace, which would probably be grounds for refusal.,.... and I would likely get a bit contrary 😂
