    Two ways to look at this:
    1. Don't like, don't sub, don't comment. Less traction for Marc and that way fewer people get this weapons-grade info.
    2. Comment, like, sub out the wazoo. This rewards Marc and Gethen with more doll-hairs, such that they create more weapons-grade content. Then we have to fade the rest of the planet finding these videos, learning tons, and making it really hard to beat the... oh wait, nevermind. That hasn't happened yet despite an infinite number of high quality books from Brunson, Sklansky, Malmuth, Miller, Brokos, Mehta, etc and high quality videos from every decent poker coach on the Interwebs. Doyle first published Super System in 1979. 45 years ago. And bad players are still awful. I think we're safe.

    8:19 Absolutely insane to see how badly -EV that 'hefty' 1.5x bet is when villain is a station, and how massive the EV difference is with the small bet. Know thy villain.
    Also, big thanks for explaining the check/overbet strat on ace high flops, I also found it in your "Run over your poker table with overbets" vid, but this latest vid goes into it much deeper.
    So to be clear, this strat on ace high flops is only when the board is static? On an AJ9 flop with a flush draw you would be more inclined to bet small on the flop because villain is more likely to be capped on a blank turn?
    Another excellent vid Marc 👌

    This is exactly how world class NL players used to play. Before the solvers and even online poker. Build an opponent profile, bet as much with value as you think he'll call, and as little as possible that you think will get a fold when bluffing. It still works better than anything in 99% of situations.

  • @jamessedlacek
    @jamessedlacek หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Marc can you help explain how EV is generated throughout the hand. I know we make each street decision without considering sunk costs but in the 76s you invested $350 and are only hoping to generate $55 in EV on the river through a $250 river bet.
    If we are betting a size on the turn to get called so we can bluff off the river it seems as though we are “donating” the turn bet and betting to win less than that in EV on the river.

    • @hungryhorsepoker
      @hungryhorsepoker  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      ev is calculated independently for each decision. we can only compare it to other alternatives at that time. if ev is bluffing is we win $55, but ev of checking is we win 0, then bluffing is better. turn ev should only be compared to turn ev.

  • @illegitimate0
    @illegitimate0 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Love the strats. I assume you know a decent percentage of your audience is playing less deep because of what casinos/poker rooms have sometimes. Are there modifications you'd make for lower SPR? In general slightly lower turn sizes sometimes to leave a big bet on the river if you need to bluff? More aggressive with value because people call down?

    • @hungryhorsepoker
      @hungryhorsepoker  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      talked about this a lot in other vids. when less deep, don’t run the airball bluffs - let equity drive them. don’t try to get top pair to fold. go thinner for value w larger sizes.

    About hand 2 -If villain have some 9x hands that he call down small size we are -ev too and recreational players have it more often than the range you give so its pretty close between profitable bet and loosing bet versus unknown player, also he will slowplay from time to time just because he want to do it without further logic. Also the turn pot bet is double edge sword because we can achieve same fold equity with smaller size, so why are we betting pot? villain will fold or call same range vs 3/4 or even 2/3 size because he see those sizes in same way, so i dont understand why we risk a lot of money for 5% ev river fold if we can achieve it on turn with less money and eventually use it on river for even more money??? Just bet 1/4 flop-3/4 turn-1/4 river... I believe most recs are static to sizes that are close to each other so why to choose bigger one? And recs are either nits or calling stations so they will either hero call or over fold, there is no mid land.
    About hand 3 - Why you suggest using for flop overbet bluff hands that have decent showdown value? do you expect that K2 will have higher winrate vs population of recs if you turn it on bluff? I dont believe you will have more that 20% ev fold equity because that is the showdown value you sacrifice.
    I play successfully mid stake spin and go`s, and for the last 2 months i try some cash low stake games applying some of your ideas and the population is just too loos postflop so they dont work good. They can work only if we know the type of player we are playing...Vs the population they just dont work... I use big bets when they are capped and they call down me with top pair more often than you say so i loos money. So basically capped range matter only if we know our opponent is nit and advicing exploits based on board and not on player type is suicide

For example, in a 1/3 game where regular open size is 15 so it plays like a 2/5 but most players have 300-500 chips in their stack. It feels harder to utilize and have bluffs with when you make them put 60-70% of their stack in on the flop. Love the vids, keep em coming!
