    So in a movie set scenario, the product manager would be the producer and the project manager would be the director.

      Oo… never thought of that, but yeah that kinda sounds about right ! 😃

    Yeah i'm learning right now they are VERY different. I'm stuck in an IT Project Manager role right now when I really should have went for a PO/Product Manager role. Project Management is all about the When and How, Product Management is about the What and Why.

      Love this! And I think you’ve got that spot on… hopefully you can pivot quickly if project management isn’t really for you !

    I am a project manager; this was very helpful. It outlines how you want to work with a PO to complete tasks assigned to the project.

    I’m working as account executive at an Advertising Agency, which as I take is basically a project manager… kind of… But still not sure, I can’t figure it out after 8 months of doing this. I’m in the beginning of my carrier so I would love to hear you take on this!
    Regardless I think in the long run Product management is the thing that I’m really interested in. :)
    Thanks for this video! Loved it. :)

      Haha I don’t really know what account executives do, I think it’s a bit of a general role, and in different organisations it can mean different things. I personally think the beginning of your career is the best time to explore all your options and possibilities , so branch out, try different things, you have the time and luxury of failing fast right now, then hopefully you’ll land yourself in a career that you absolutely love. Thanks for watching my video girly x

    How does the Product manager owning and leading the team to get all the tasks in the product backlog fit into all this? So I've been doing some training and what you said is right but we're also oversee the product backlog which is all the tasks that need to be done by the development team and the PO/Manager creates and maintains the product backlog, the definition of done, acceptance criteria etc.
    Where does the Project Manager fit in here. It sounds like the Monitoring and tracking progress part, but it sounds like two roles trying to do the same thing, also in my training, we also arranged the scrum events like the reviews where stakeholders would see our latest releasable increment in the product. There was a theoretical scrum master in the team, but not a Project Manager.

      Hey so, I don’t know enough detail about a product managers role so I can’t really answer the first half of your question.
      And the project manager is the implementer. Managing the teams to get things from A-B. Not all projects have project managers, if it’s a sw project, then they may have a scrum master instead. But all these 3 roles are different from each other . It is possible that especially in small organisations that these roles over lap in their responsibilities, but that’s not how the role should be … hope this helps

    Are any of these roles good for introverts? I am an introvert and would really like to get into tech both of these roles seem really interesting to me . I would love to hear your opinion

    • @pitolinmotion
      @pitolinmotion  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Love this question and I would say yes! It has less to do with if you’re introverted or not and more about if you’re a good communicator and good with people. I think introverts can be. Obviously naturally because extroverts tend to be more outspoken it is perceived that they are better PMs, but I don’t think so . If you are not a good communicator and not good with different types of people. You will struggle in this role 😅

      I think working in event management can help you build some of the skills required to be a project manager.
