Johann Christian's compositional style is characterized by cantabile melodies, symmetrical structures, and a harmonically simplified approach, which collectively foreshadowed the emerging classical era.These traits shine in his vibrant quintet for flute, oboe, violin, viola, and basso continuo. The final movement incorporates structural elements of classical song.
