BECOMING AN ADIRONDACK 46ER // Final Adirondack High Peak climb to Mt. Marcy

- Climbing all 46 High Peaks in the Adirondack Mountains is a journey that sometimes takes a lifetime. For others, it is a goal taken up later in life. For my friend and fellow Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK-NFC) member, he decided to climb all 46 High Peaks in his 60's. He began the journey on Algonquin Peak at 62 and finished his ADK 46er on Mt. Marcy four short years later. This video chronicles Frank's final High Peak climb to become an Adirondack 46er.
Our hike began at the High Peaks Information Center (HPIC) located near Heart Lake and the Adirondack Loj. We passed Marcy Dam en route to New York State's highest point, Mount Marcy at 5,344 feet elevation.

I just completed Mt Marcy a couple hours ago. It wrecked my knees and ankles but I’m on cloud 9. And this was my first 46er. Can only imagine how cool it is to do them all. Belated congratulation!!!

Sunshine SideofLife77 of the 46ers, I’d say Marcy is one of the easier ones. It is a long hike at 13+ miles but is not very technical or remote.

Congratulations Frank on becoming a 46er. Funny story, I also started my hiking journey with Chet Rosinski. He would take his engineering students hiking after they graduated with an associate's degree in engineering and I was lucky to have him introduce me to the Adirondacks. I am at 24/46 and hope to finish someday. Great video.

Congratulations! I just finished my saranac 6ers winter badge and I’m finishing my 46ers this summer! (I also did Algonquin as my first high peak) I think avalanche lake is my favorite even though it’s not a 46er!
I am a bit more than half way for my winter 46er. We attempted the Saranac 6 Ultra riding bikes between summits (th-cam.com/video/tOMMLQKlqR8/w-d-xo.html). We are probably going to seek revenge by doing the winter ultra. Avalanche Lake is amazing, I will always choose to put on some extra miles to loop through there. Thanks for watching and the comment.
question; i just completed phelps yesterday. i could not find a little metal disc showing exactly where the high peak of the mountain was. in order to become a 46er, do we have to show proof? i have tons of pics from the top of the mountain, but sadly no pic of that little metal disc.

Interesting he saved Marcy for his 46th. I'm counting down my 46 with 10 mostly remote climbs. But I've saved Whiteface for last. Allen next week if anyone wants a long stroll.
RDJim it’s just the way it works out sometimes. I finished on Nippletop for no good reason, other than it gets smiles when I say it. I will be in ADK with my family next week, think we are going to hit Big Slide. I am going with another friend the following week for the Sewards. What day are you doing Allen? Day hike?
