I started weaving on a rigid heddle loom and after 6 months I knew it wasn't going to be enough and I needed (wanted) a floor loom. In January 2023 I bought the 90cm David 3 and I love it. It was at the upper limit of my budget, but it does everything I ask of it, the build quality is top-notch, it fits nicely in my small condo and best of all, it has been simple to learn on and use. I've just about completed Jane's Season 2 of the Online Weaving Guild, and every project shows improvement in my skill and technique. Thank you Jane and thank you Louet!
Thank you for doing this video Jane! I’ve always found descriptions of Jack, Countermarche, & Counterbalance looms to be confusing before your video, especially countermarche & counterbalance. The David & Spring looms are my ‘someday dream looms’! I now understand the difference between the two looms and how each functions.
I'm fortunate enough to have both, and they are amazing. The David III came first, because having had a countermarche loom in the past I figured "Never again!" Yet the more I watched Jane use her Spring, the more tempted I became, until I finally decided to take the plunge. The tie up is a little more work, but infinitely better than my previous experience with CM looms and the shed is huge. The floating breast beam is a great feature for maintaining even warp tension. The best investments I ever made...
Wow thank you for this, it really cemented my thoughts on what I required. I had just purchased a Schacht Wolf Pup and quickly realised had made a expensive mistake in not getting a wider weaving width. Was going to purchase a Mighty wolf but decided to look at all other makes, came across your video and decision made. So Louet David 3 ordered and I now have a patient 12 week wait.
Thank you so much for recording this video! Your explanations are great and so clear! I have been trying to decide between a David and a Spring for quite awhile. I think I am leaning toward the Spring.
Fun to see the detailed comparison here. I also love my David III...unless Louet does something revolutionary before I die, it will be my last floor loom purchase.
I have a Spring II and am really happy with it. Coming from a rising shed loom.......I tie up my treadles the opposite of JS. The one thing I love about my Spring II is being able to remove the beater, breast beam and cloth beam for threading (I also do my treadle tie up at that time). I'm assuming that the David III is the same .........but that would have been good to mention.
Thank you for your detailed, informative descriptions of these beautiful looms. I am considering the David III but I am concerned if I will be able to correctly convert tie ups from patterns for rising shed/shaft looms to the David. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think I understand the conversion as - if reading a rising shed/shaft pattern - where the tie up is 2 and 4, I would convert that to tie ups on 1 and 3 for the David. Is that correct? Is it that straightforward?? Just opposite of what a rising shaft pattern shows? Thank You.
You are an awesome teacher. Thank you. If there's any chance you live in Sacramento area, please let me know. I'd love a private lesson lol you're awesome!❤
Thank you so much for this video. I know now the difference between both looms. But I don't know, which loom is the best for me. Why should I buy the David, why the Spring Loom?
Hi Jane! In your demo video for David 3 and David Spring 2; were you demonstrating on the 110cm/43.3” on both? I wanted to get an idea how far I have to weave from left to right with the shuttle. If I should go with 90cm/35.4” is smaller. I would like to make blankets 40” wide…will it be comfortable to shuttled on a 110cm/43.3”. Thank you!

I own a David II and love it! Louet produces a top notch product. If you purchase one of their looms, it will be money well spent 🙂💖👍

Congratulations ! We are finishing a series of David looms in 10 days, so your wait should not be too long!
Oh hopefully am in Uk and ordered through George Weil & Sons 😊
Thank you so much for this video. I learn more, good job❤

Great video, Jane! I have wondered about the difference for a long time. I still love my David III, though.

Yes you are correct. It is that straight forward!

I would like to know the same is that a 110cm Spring?
what are your thoughts on the magado. Do you prefer to only use one peddle compared to many?
I have a David II and love it, but I am envious of the beater on the David III and I wish that an upgrade kit was available for purchase.
Where can you buy those plastc roop attach to the pedals if broke
Question for Dave …. Does the David II beater that slid on a metal bar no longer exist?
That is correct. It was discontinued with the David 2
@@LouetWorldwide Is there a kit to convert a used loom David 2 beater, with the metal bar slider tracks, to a beater like the David 3 & Spring 2 beaters.
No there is not. The structure of the David 2 is so different, the floor beater is not possible.
