Razer's Best Mouse EVER? - Viper Mini Signature Edition Review

  • Under the hood, this mouse uses similar high-end internals to other recent Razer flagship releases, including a Razer Focus Pro 30K sensor and Gen-3 optical switches. Additionally, this mouse comes with a Razer HyperSpeed Dongle that is unique to the Viper Mini Signature Edition. This dongle allows you to set a maximum wireless polling rate of 8000Hz, and it's the first wireless gaming mouse on the market to offer this feature.
    This mouse was originally released exclusively on Razer's website and select physical Razer stores as a limited quantity drop. Razer has committed to continued production in batch drops according to demand.

    I am with this mouse because of its performance, but I don't want to use it with 8KHz because of many reasons. Why don't you provide the option of testing with 1KHz polling rate? How much performance decrease do you expect when set to 1KHz?

      What you mean by performance? Fps or the mice accuracy? It's a tiny difference, there's really not that much practical difference between 8k and 1k, except 8k steals fps.

    Eh no ability for the 8k plugged in? No thanks.
    Plus I think the sheer cpu consumption for 8k kind of negates most of the benefits.
    Until cpus get drastically faster, we really just need 4k WIRED mice and keyboards

      @@UnimatrixTH-cam I didn't say it wasn't able to run. I'm saying the cpu consumption negates most of the benefits. Which is objectively true. Even if you have the best cpu there is, it's still going to take a ton of cpu resources to run that many updates per second. Which increases latency and lowers frame rate. Not by a noticeable amount, but it is still there. It is still a net positive from the testing I've seen, but it's very much diminishing returns past 2-4k

    • @UnimatrixYoutube
      @UnimatrixYoutube 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And I'm not saying you did. No it's not objectively true, it's your subjective truth. If you have a modern gaming rig than that 8K polling rate will be handled just fine. Stop spreading nonsense.

    • @Holy_Hobo
      @Holy_Hobo 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@UnimatrixTH-cam Again, it will be handled "just fine". I'm not saying you're losing 20% frames. But all the tests online show cpu usage that will result in worse overall latency and frame drop, which counteracts a lot of the benefits from the 8khz. Literally look at some of the top tests on the matter. It is still an overall benefit, but it is lessened some deal by the increased cpu demand(that again, you won't notice, but is there and does have an impact). Your lack of noticing or caring is the subjective part. The objective stats prove otherwise.

    • @UnimatrixYoutube
      @UnimatrixYoutube 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Holy_Hobo My man, make up your mind. You literally use phrases like "sheer cpu consumption", "it's still going to take a ton of cpu resources" and saying we need faster CPU's for this to become interesting which is just nonsense. Especially on modern CPU's. The only time when 8K is a problem is when people are trying to use it in game engines that don't support it. Than you will have a massive negative impact. Btw, you also have to look at the use case for these things, which is mostly competitive shooters where most people turn down settings anyway so plenty of free resources and also, most of these competitive shooters are not that taxing in terms of resources. Personally I use it everywhere in game engines that support it on 8K, without tuning down settings and there's no impact running 8K.

    Not complaining about the review quality here but honestly there's very little use in putting effort in reviewing products like this and putting them on the spotlight. Yeah 8K wireless is nice but other than that it doesn't offer anything special that will justify this price. Nobody other than the 0,01 percent is gonna buy a couple hundred bucks mouse. This is just a silly product and a testament to corporate greed. I would say put your efforts in actual interesting products that deserve to be reviewed.

    • @ZacharyMcClane
      @ZacharyMcClane 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Other than 8k wireless? So being the currently one and only mouse that offers it doesn't justify the price? Plus the fact that it's made of magnesium alloy and has razers best sensor, that's special. It's an enthusiest mouse. The price is justified.
      Also I agree that mid-range and more popular mice should get the spotlight, but a flagship mouse like this is also exciting to see. You can never get complacent.
