Loved that intro! So dramatic. So intense. Spectacular! BTW ... thank you for taking the time to share your opinion on this product and including in-use video of the tool. This video was just what I was looking for.
Great job! In my case my garden is roughly 2000 SQ. FT. Either I create an above ground vegetable garden which could cost a bundle or get this attachment.... Great showcase indeed! EGO products are very convenient and the benefits outweigh the costs through careful analysis. I would rather have the attachment rather than hurt my back at my age! Cheers!!
Good review. I’ve had my tiller unit for a year and love it. During that year I have not only used it for 50 hours but have also lost the instructions on how to change the lube inside the tiller head. Care to make a maintenance video for us tiller owners?
5 amp hour power head requirement seems weird since the power head (with one or another attachment) can be gotten on Amazon as part of a kit that includes the 2.5 amp hour battery. Also I saw a video by a guy who ran his EGO lawn mower with the 2.5 amp hour battery and it worked fine (just for a shorter time). Are you sure about this?
The cultivator probably puts a higher than typical load compared to other attachments and is used for longer periods of time without stopping and starting again (no rest). The motor is probably regularly drawing the full 1200w, and on a less than 5Ah battery may be pushing the batteries current draw without wearing out faster and getting hot. 1200w is a lot for a 2.5Ah battery to put out with no rest, just doing some napkin math: a 56v 2.5Ah battery would have 140Wh. Drawing 1200w from a 56v battery would be 21.4 amps, or a C8.5 rate on a 2.5Ah battery. You could also say C8.5 is a theoretical 12 minutes to full discharge, that's a very fast and hard discharge.
I have not had that happen with my Power Head but I have had my leaf blower stop running when I use the turbo too much. My guess is it's either working the motor too hard or the battery is getting too hot from discharging fairly rapidly and to prevent the tool or battery from damaging itself it shuts down until it cools off.
@@Maraksot78 Thanks for your response. I use the pole saw, and it shuts down even right after I start using it cold, otherwise it seems good quality.. I've decided to return the powerhead for a replacement and see if that helps. If that doesn't help I'm looking into another brand. Possibly the 82V Snapper.
@@knowbloc The powerhead replacement didn't make any difference so I ended up sending the whole thing back and got a gas one. Now there is no problem except it's heavier and messier. It works though!
😭😭 say it ain’t so. I wanted to believe. It’s likely I will follow in your footsteps, calling them tomorrow to get the warranty process started. I appreciate you letting me know my replacement may be futile, atleast I’m prepared now ✊🏽
I have used my EGO power head for about 60 minutes. One day with the broom and for 15 seconds with the cultivator. I started cultivating some sandy soil when the cultivator hit a small rock. I bent down and tossed the rock to the side. I tried to start the cultivator again, but it did not start. The battery is fully charged, and I have tried a second battery, too. I can spin the rod in the power head freely, but it will not turn with power, the battery blinks red when I try. I contacted EGO and they say the stone is a natural accident and not covered by warranty. I say something must be wrong with the wand and I want it checked. They continue to say that the rock has damaged it and the warranty does not cover it. I have asked to have this escalated up and have someone call me. They did after several days, but still repeat their written script that the rock has voided the warranty. It’s a garden cultivator, you will hit some small rocks. Common sense tells me there must be something wrong with the power head, but they continue with the script, the rock has voided your warranty. So, the wand lasted for 60 minutes. That is an expensive hour. Making me more frustrated with EGO is trying to connect with a human. I have spent over 90 minutes, (three phone calls) listening to the on-hold music. The first time I connected with them, we were disconnected at 5:00 PM. I tried to call back only to find out they were closed for the day. That was very disturbing. I have bought the cultivator, broom, edger, and string trimmer in hopes of getting my area cleaned up this summer. So far, my experience has been very dissatisfying with EGO and I cannot recommend them.
That's a good question. Ego does seem to be kinda seasonal with their products. Especially ones like the cultivator attachment and their snow blower and stuff. Maybe COVID has something to do with it too? I honestly don't know. I just went to Ego's website and clicked their links to buy one and Home Depot doesn't have any right now but Ace Hardware and Grainger sell them too. Ace Hardware has them listed for $179.99 but also say out of stock... Grainger appears to have some but have it listed for $222.74 so quite a bit overpriced. Home Depot was selling them for $179.14. Amazon has some but they're way overpriced there with the cheapest one at $260. I've seen this happen with their snowblower in the past. It seems like they have a season when they produce them and sell them but as soon as that season ends and the stock runs out all you can find is way overpriced stuff until the season comes back around. I don't have any contacts or affiliation with EGO so I don't know anything official. I'm just a guy that likes their tools and has made some TH-cam videos about the tools I own to try and help other people looking at buying them.
Good news my friend. I too have been trying to find one for a couple months and it was out of stock everywhere. However this morning I noticed they were in stock once more on amazon. Just ordered one :-)
Great video, Maraksot78, thank you! You just helped me to make up my mind and invest in the EGO products (vs. a different, seemingly inferior product line). I do have one question for you though... At 5:04 I spotted some edge concrete that you have installed. I've been searching for some similar kind of edge-work. is there any chance you can tell me where I could order that from? I'd appreciate it!
Thanks so much for your comment and very kind compliment. I love my EGO tools. I feel they perform great and have lots of power. I think what you're referring to is the concrete curbing between my lawn and planters? That was installed by a local concrete curbing company here where I live. They have to mix the concrete on site and have a machine they put the concrete into which then extrudes the concrete out and they have to drive the machine around your yard and extrude it how and where you want it. I assume there are curbing companies where you live that do the same thing.
I'm enthusiastic about EGO tools in general. They are well designed and the ones I own at this point - lawnmower, weed string cutter, and hedge trimmer all work well. This one though - the cultivator - IMO falls short of what a useful cultivator should be. The review does nothing which would convince me otherwise. He refers to " rocks " which in the video are only small stones of no significance, and he uses the tool in dry soil at a shallow depth - a job which could be done with a simple rake ! A proper test would be in wet loam at a depth of 15 cm.
Buy a good smaller tiller fir that price just to buy the tiller head. Got blower and string trimmer. Not buying head unit, tiller , 5 amps battery. NO thx

great video on the cultivator attachment. The pole saw works great with the power head too.
Thank you. Happy to hear you enjoyed the video. Cheers! 🙂
Great review, I love Ego already but this sold me!

Great video! Do you know if the 7.5 batteries work on thing?
All ego batteries work on all ego tools
I wonder if I can use it to break ice on sidewalk
This tool really works. Thanks.
Does your power head motor ever just suddenly stop running?
I have not had that happen with my Power Head but I have had my leaf blower stop running when I use the turbo too much. Can this remove Lippia repens weed that is overtaking my yard?
Thanks man! Great video.
thanks for checking it out! :)
Does EGO still make the cultivator attachment? I’ve been looking for one for over a month and none of the companies that carry EGO have it.

Thumbs up for that intro lol
Good review. (Comment - the plastic guard is lighter than metal would be. That's a "feature" on an already heavy device)
Very good point! It also doesn't dent, bend and have paint chip off like metal does.
Thanks for the comment. Cheers! :)

This was great. Did you review any other battery powered tillers that might be more powerful and better?
Get some organic mulch on the beds
Its seems to big to get in between shrubs and other plants
I weeded my gravel driveway with the ryobi tiller, did slightly better.
Wet your soil a little to till easier.
just need a piece of grass or straw coming out of your mouth to complete the farmer look :P Also what else you growing? I see a few tomato plants
Why didn't I think of that?! 😂 we've got raspberries, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, onions, cucumbers, zuccinni, summer squash, peas and carrots.
@@Maraksot78 ah thats a nice little bunch of crops you got there, enjoy the harvest in the next few months
Thanks. I'm sure we will. We always do. There's just someting about food you've grown yourself. 🙂 Do you do much gardening?

It's now $220... ugh!
Hooray for inflation. 👎🏻💩
