This is a perfect review video. He gets it. Not only cuts to the chase, but then shows us how it performs on a lawn that hasn't been well maintained. Excellent.
I am 71 senior citizen with postage stamp yard and have EGO mower, blower, weed whacker. Never have learned how to use the weed whacker so I am wanting an edger to use on my new circle driveway. Thankyou for this excellent review. 🙌
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
Imagine an entire neighborhood with cordless lawn care tools, nice and quiet. I have the EGO hedge trimmer and 18" chainsaw and they are the best. I bought the hedge trimmer because I could hold it out at arms length with it's 2.5ah battery. The edger review gives me good insight of it's capability so that system will be on my buy list, like the pole saw and the line trimmer.
I just gave my ego edger it’s first test run. I have a 160’ long driveway and the edger did a great job. It has enough power. Not as strong as my Stihl gas edger but it was plenty strong for my use. The best part was it was so much quieter and smoother running than a gas edger.👍🏻👍🏻 It’s definitely a keeper
Great review, I bought the multi tool separately and got a 5 amp pack with fast charger , it also came with a strap 👍👍 The edger attachment works really good 😊
I have approx 575 linear feet to edge on our corner lot home and can finish it with a 2.5ah battery with enough battery left over to blow off 1/2-2/3 of our properties sidewalk, patio, and driveway. Battery life is excellent. We can edge, string trim, and blow the entire property on 2, 2.5ah batteries. Outstanding product.
Thanks for this well done video on the edger. I just used it for the first time today; however, that is after doing a lot of research. One thing most reviewers says is that it is heavy and takes effort to operate. I attached the Darwin's Grip 5.0 on the edger after watching few reviews about how great it is for the bristle brush and rubber paddle attachments few years ago and bought a pack of 10 on a Christmas special few years ago and now it works very well without straining the back. I find the strap still adds strain on the shoulder and the material does not keep its integrity on the D ring on something this heavy during operation but the strap works well on the new EGO 16" Line IQ trimmer with the quick adjustable weight balance strap slider.
I absolutely LOVE this edger, but it is the only one that I have ever owned. I purchased it solely because I already owned the LM2135SP Mower and it was a natural transition to lessen the types of batteries I have. First I tried to use my string trimmer to edge, but I had WAY to much overgrowth over the pavement. Then I thought about using a shovel to cut the overgrowth away, but that would have taken forever with my long driveway. So I went with this, and I am VERY happy. My only complaint is the same as the reviewers: the weight. I use a 7.5aH Battery on mine, so it is pretty hefty. Other than that, this thing is worth its weight in gold.
Husband just bought this tool and we both used it. The first thing I noticed was the excess weight because of the battery as compared to my previous push electric which has a large wheel and doesn’t require any balancing. Thanks for the strap tip.
I just put up my year end review for my all electric landscaping business! The power head is an amazing system, more commercial than most of their commercial line if you ask me.
Thanks for the info. I just bought the power head with 4 attachments (hedge, edger, string trimmer and pole saw) and have only used the string trimmer thus far. Nice to know how the edger works and how to make adjustments. So far I'm really pleased with the purchase and my neighbors seem a bit jealous as they all have noisy gas powered units.
Thanks. Looking forward to purchasing a set of EGO tools (56V 21” mower, power stick, edger, weed eater and hedge clipper). Watched several EGO videos and found yours some of the best. Keep them short, to the point and informative. You’re doing a good job!
Nice review of the tools....I bought the back pack blower as my gateway into EGO. The electric blower really makes sense compared to a gas one because I can use it in the garage, basement, even in bedrooms when I want to clear the room of dust before painting, floor refinishing, etc. I bought the Milwaukee chainsaw before I bought the EGO backpack. The chainsaw has really impressed me --it really works nicely with my large gas-powered husky plus I can chainsaw at night without the noise pollution (don't ant to interrupt those naps).
Nice review, didn't cover if replacement blades are readily available and how much they cost... I agree a strap would be beneficial and should be included. Also agree, those batteries get heavy quick and are EXPENSIVE! I have the Ego mower and only negative to it is it doesn't always cut cleanly the first pass, otherwise I love it.... Thanks for the review!
If you have multiple pieces of equipment, you really need to pick up the backpack link. It takes all battery weight off the tool. I didn't know about this accessory and once I picked one up. I regretted not having it since day one. It makes the entire experience so much nicer
I have the EGO carbon fibre shaft version of the multi-head power unit with the carbon fibre shaft edger tool. I noticed when you complained about the weight and the lack of an included shoulder strap (my carbon fibre unit did include one) that you have the forward handle on the edger mounted backwards, it is supposed to angle upward toward the main trigger handle.
Thanks for this video! Helped me decide to pull the trigger on the tool. Also, the new 765 CFM Blower comes with a shoulder strap, so when I bought the blower I was pleasantly surprised to have the strap for use with the edger, too!
I LOVE EGO PRODUCTS! So far I have the leaf blower, string trimmer, mower, snow blower and hedge trimmer. I plan to get this one soon. Also looking at the chain saw.
I would recommend buying one of each tool that you need, like me who lives in Texas and have a lot of trees, I would get the chainsaw, leaf blower, mower, and the Multi tool while also trying to get each one with the biggest model as they usually come with a big battery. My idea is pricey but in my opinion it's better to have tools that are more than enough than have something that is barely enough or possibly come up short. I bought the LB6500 leaf blower that I use around my home and for my business and I'm currently looking into the multi tool to see what my options are with it and then after that I plan to look into getting the mower for the tighter areas that are pain to get in with a riding mower
Very good video just wanted to encourage you to keep up the good work no critiques here your fluid and easy to listen to with no agenda just honest facts
I purchased this EGO edger from Lowes, it was delivered to my home being they didn't have one in stock. The only issue I have with it is that I'm left handed and when I use it left handed I get a lot of debris on me and in my face. I'm doing some inservice training getting use to using it with my right hand, so far so good 'adapt and overcome ' ;-) Most demos I've watched people are edging sidewalks, driveway etc. I have a lot of grass to edge that's not next to a walk or drive and that's where the debris is kicked up and out. The good part, I can edge a lot quicker with the EGO than I could with my bulky 4 Wheel Troy-Bilt B&S 158cc Edger. I do miss adding gas, changing the oil, spark plug, air filter and pulling on the starter cord - lol
Love your review...straight to the point and extremely informative!!! I have the Ego lawnmower (love!) and I’ve been debating on the edger which I’m going to purchase now. Thanks!!
Have you tried the counter rotating trimmer head? My son-in-law recently trimmed around the lawn edge (all cement edges), leaving a nice clean edge. The debris didn't get thrown everywhere like your edger or my line trimmer did. Nice simple explanation by yourself, thanks from Australia.
I just bought one used it Right out Box I dis small front yard without Charging Lot Power Quiet and easy to Control the speed. I'm looking forward to purchase more multiple tools No more Cords or Gas for me.
Had mine for 2.5 weeks the select cut is a beast! My first EGO product just bout the edger tool only yesterday..are u using that heavy 7.5ah batter on the edger? It's the only battery I have so I better get the strap..smh..
I Just bought my First Ego 56v Trimmer I did about small front yard Right out Box. Love the power and Ego string Twist line I'm having troubles with Bump feed.
I just went from a Stihl line of tools to the Ego. Please tell me how do you know what your battery level is at. There is a green light in the manual it says more than 15%. This is in my opinion where i feel EGO is not up to speed compared to other tools. I really felt that i had bought an inferior tool. On the Stihl battery you have a level indicator allowing to let you know if you have to charge or you can use it right away and this is as well on many other tools.
Does the depth of cut adjustment actually achieve anything? Adjusting the height of the rear wheel looks like all it would do is alter the angle of the shaft. At the end of the day, the blade is still run along the ground on the same rubber pad which never changes height regardless of what the rear wheel is doing. Maybe im missing something?
As a first time EGO user, I just bought the edger combo kit. Is there a reason it wont spin up when placed on the grass and aligned with the sidewalk? It works just fine if I turn it on and then plunge into the grass. It seems like it should have ample power to allow the user to align it first to the sidewalk before having it run especially around ornate pavers where I risk the change of chipping them.
I know what you mean. Mine does the same thing. It must be a design choice Ego made to prevent accidentally engaging it while it's sitting on concrete or anywhere else you wouldn't want it to turn on.
I currently use the ego leaf blower. I love it!!! I also have a battery powered ryobi for weed trimming. I want to buy a edger and deciding on going with ryobi or ego. I already was leaning towards ego do to the size of battery and runtimes I get with the blower. After seeing your video it’s gonna be ego no question.
I don't think that the power head has a brushless motor. To me that is a concern. The blowers and stand alone string trimmers do have brushless motors.. I just bought an EGO blower and stand alone string trimmer. They are awesome. The blower is so powerful I finished my yard quickly and had lots of battery. Honestly it only took about 5 minutes. I had a lot of heavy weed wacking and my 2.5 amp battery lasted about 30 minutes working very hard. Battery charged up in about 40 minutes. The string trimmer is unbelievable powerful and well balanced.
Is there a reason to consider the stand alone edger that isn't the multi tool? What are the differences and which is better (considering just the edger and not the abilities if the other tools).
Hi! Great video, I have one question; is the norm to sort of have to bend/hunch over a bit to align the wheel to the ground to keep the tool flush? I find if I stand upright the wheel doesn’t touch the ground (I’m not that tall, only 5’7” 😂)…. Maybe it’s a stupid question but would appreciate your input on proper posture!
That's interesting... I have to hunch over a little bit to get the wheel to ride on the ground properly but I'm 6'-2" so I just thought it was that way because of my height. Interesting to hear you're experiencing the same thing at 5'-7". Thankfully I don't have a ton of concrete that needs edging in my yard, otherwise my back would really be feeling it.
Thank you for the review mate, down under here, we have it pretty warm every summer, how does the battery hold up under heat ? anyone here had issues ? Ego are really really easy to deal with warranty wise, there isnt much out there that offers 5 years. this is a contributing factor to my purchase. i nabbed the stand alone 540mm hedger kit with 2 x 2.5AH batts and the mutli with 5AH and rapid charger so have plenty of juice. excellent product
It doesn't come with a place to attach a strap, that ring comes with the strap from Ego, but I guess if you're the ingenuitive type you could improvise a way to rig it up to work.
I have an Ego carbon fiber power 56 volt split string trimmer. Would you happen to know if the bottom section rail of the Edger would fit on the trimmer and work?
if you buy a Greenworks 80V trimmer with universal attachment capability, you get a more powerful motor and you don't even have to buy a completely separate edger tool. Instead, you can just buy an edger attachment for $70 and power it with one of many power platforms.
Thank you for your great review. I'm a lefty. Does it appear that the bottom portion can somehow be reversed to the other side so I can use it with the tool on the left side of my body? If I ran it on the left this way, the blade guard would not protect me from flying debris.
Have the self propelled mower, blower and weed eater. Love all three seriously interested in the edger and not have to drag an extension cord any more. Wonder how cultivator works on red clay soil...? Great vid!
thank you I bought and edger a couple weeks ago and with it being my first perches of ego I wasn't sure if it would come with the battery but know I know it does because mine was 300 and something lol.
Is it possible to replace the cutter with a circular blade, take off the wheel, and use it to cut small trees? I don't understand how come this attachment is not available in USA and it is in EU.
You said you don’t go deep with the tool, but curious if you tried it. I found that the angle for cutting deep required me to bend down too much and was very uncomfortable. I wonder if I was doing something wrong.
I assembled my edger and was so excited to edge my front sidewalk and flower beds. The flower beds do not have a concrete edging around my garden. In the first five minutes of use, I hit a buried rubber hose and the thing went kaput! It now makes a strained noise and the blade does not move. Needless to say, I have not been able to use it and would like to know what I can do to fix it. Thanks for any help you may offer. On another note, we have the lawn mower and power blower which I love!

technicolorProducer - You use a blower in your bedroom (pause) and a chainsaw at night? You are very serious about your work!
I just got one of these - this video was a great overview to watch before first use

Thanks for a complete review. I will probably get one today. The one thing i want on any edger is the blade guide(i'm sold). THANKS AGAIN
Good review, thanks for posting. I have an EGO mower brought it in Feb 21...and now thinking about a few other Ego lawn tools.
I LOVE EGO PRODUCTS! So far I have the leaf blower, string trimmer, mower, snow blower and hedge trimmer. I plan to get this one soon. Also looking at the chain saw.

Great video! I purchased the Ego Edger last year and need to add grease for the first time. What kind of grease would you recommend to use?
Nice Job, got right to the Chase, Thanks for a instructive session.
I love EGO PRODUCTS! How can i get a power head with attachment in Botswana, Southern Africa.
I Just bought my First Ego 56v Trimmer I did about small front yard Right out Box. Love the power and Ego string Twist line I'm having troubles with Bump feed.
Thanks for the video, I have the string trimmer and now about to order the edger. I appreciate the information.
I own one and love it, thanks to your vid did not know about the ability to change depth, i also noticed my hardware shop stooged me on the hand grip!
Just ordered one.can't wait to see what it can do.
Excellent review! Answered many questions I had and helped me make a decision to buy it.
EGO products just rock, no kidding flat out rocks! Real power not wimmpy and mostly sooo quite.
I just went from a Stihl line of tools to the Ego. Please tell me how do you know what your battery level is at. There is a green light in the manual it says more than 15%. How does it work for defining flower bed lines?
Fantastic lawn edger, excellent info. Thanks

This is exactly my issue. Just bought the edger. Very frustrating for a first time user I'll try the plunge method.
Love the Pauls Hardware shirt
ha ha. What a coincidence. I'm wearing it right now actually. :D
Great video fun and informative, superbly done, thank you
I currently use the ego leaf blower. I love it!!! I also have a battery powered ryobi for weed trimming.
I want to buy a edger and deciding on going with ryobi or ego. I already was leaning towards ego do to the size of battery and runtimes I get with the blower. After seeing your video it’s gonna be ego no question.
Would this be useful for trimming near fence lines? There is always a gap between the fence and the mower.
your right about the harness but great equipment
Could you review the ego pole saw, please?
Very informative video, Big Thank you! I love my EGO!

How does it work for edging a flower bed

how do you adjust the actual height of the device. I feel like I am bending over to get the wheel on the ground.
My power head came with the strap. Just purchased in Australia (in case location matters!).
It would be to heavy for this petite female DIYer. Besides I need a lightweight trimmer to get in spots my mower doesn’t reach.Any suggestions?
Fantastic job sir. By the way, you are a wonderful son.
Thank you for the compliment and I'm happy the video was helpful. :)
Damn it. Would love Ego if they sell in Lowe's. Hate that Home Depot gives a hard time with military discount.
Haven't had an issue with HD so far on the mil discount. They've been very good to me, i've been shopping there for years.
Ego is moving to Lowes effective in December, 2020! In the interim get prepared for Closeout deals at Home Depot!
I spotted a few Ego mowers and blowers at Lowe's today, 8/20/20😊
Very good job... I am going to buy one after watching this video. Thank you
Is it too heavy to use for 60 yrs old woman. I am 60 yrs old & interested buying ego trimmer & edger
Does it accept universal attachments, or only ego?
have you seen theyre coming out with a riding lawn mower next year! I don't think I need it but I'll most likely get it!
I am guessing that any old strap you have with a carabiner will work just fine right?
It doesn't come with a place to attach a strap, that ring comes with the strap from Ego, but I guess if you're the ingenuitive type you could improvise a way to rig it up to work.
I Love my EGO PRODUCTS ♥️🤗👍
I have look at Ego 56 products at Ace Hardware, Home Depot and Lowes. No one seems to be able to where to go for out of warranty service/parts.
Can the edger wheel be run on the ground to create a clean line around landscaping beds?
Our Home Depot does not sell EGo Equipment, they sell Greenwork. Our Lowes sells EGO equipment, had to order the edger on line from Lowes.
Yah, since making this video Home Depot quit selling Ego products and Lowe's picked them up.
how close can you get with the edger when approaching another piece of concrete 90 deg’s. ?
Would have liked to see you edging a flower bed too
my edger after using it a summer works best backwards does this mean I need a new blade
I have an Ego carbon fiber power 56 volt split string trimmer. Would you happen to know if the bottom section rail of the Edger would fit on the trimmer and work?
What's your thoughts on curved vs straight stick edger?
Does it only work in one direction, i.e. wheel on the concrete side of the edge?
How do you know if it is a multi tool on my trimmer ?
Nice Video. Do you think this could be used to redefine the edges of a garden bed?
I define beds with it on a weekly basis
I’m new to the The edger and it be pulling me and I’m not getting the edge as of yet..any advice
Great job! Extremely helpful! Thanks
if you buy a Greenworks 80V trimmer with universal attachment capability, you get a more powerful motor and you don't even have to buy a completely separate edger tool. Instead, you can just buy an edger attachment for $70 and power it with one of many power platforms.
Is the blade Ego specific, or is it something readily available at my hardware store?
It's a common 8-inch industry standard blade. Buy them anywhere. 👍
@@zaineridling Thank you!
Thank you for your great review. I'm a lefty. Does it appear that the bottom portion can somehow be reversed to the other side so I can use it with the tool on the left side of my body? If I ran it on the left this way, the blade guard would not protect me from flying debris.
this edger is on sale at home depot right now, bare tool for 89.00!
The nut that holds the wheel on unscrews every time I try to use it. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.
You said you don’t go deep with the tool, but curious if you tried it. I found that the angle for cutting deep required me to bend down too much and was very uncomfortable. I wonder if I was doing something wrong.
I have not tried using it much on the deeper setting. Sorry.
I just bought one the blade was turning but it stopped
Job well done!
Did you ever find out how to fix your issue? I'm having the same problem.
@@IamFrancoisDillinger No, I never heard anything. Now that it is springtime, I want to try again. Does anyone from ECO read these messages?
I really need to know how to fix this! Could someone reach out?
I'm a 65 y/o female & 5'3" tall. I'm concerned it may be too heavy &/or cumbersome to operate. Your opinion?? Thanks.
I have the same question.
