At first during the innovative cases awards I thought that you forgot about the Dark Base Pro 900, but I'm glad that it got the case of the year because Be Quiet pulled out ALL of the stops with that case. In the end, great video Dmitry. Great choices.

I'm glad to see the Be Quiet released a black version of this case, as big loud orange accents are a big no no especially on a case with RGB lighting. My only other gripe with this case is that is has no PSU shroud when much cheaper options out there do.

We really need more love for M-ATX. All i see is M-ITX cases and poor ATX cases.. There are like no proper compact cases for this formfactor if you are not into dualwide cases. Is it really that hard to make a case that fits proper hardware and still can be less then 40cm tall without putting front IO in some idiotic place like on the sides?
All i want is something that fits a dual 120 AIO cooler and GPUs like 1080and still be 35ish CM tall and have FRONT IO
I have a Corsair 350D Windowed version and its perfect for M-ATX builds, only negative i could say is there is no top filter but i use a Corsair H100i blowing air out of the case so its not a problem. Its a great looking case and easy to work in. Its not overly expensive either.
vesleengen agreed, the mATX market is slim. The only real contenders are the 350D, Core V21, Evolv mATX, and Air 240. A lot of these cases have flaws that would make me not want them.
The 350D really needs a refresh. And has had problems with quality. If it was available with no window, type C USB in front and better filtering it would be perfect
The Mini C is nice but is still very big for a M-ATX case. And having IO on the top makes it a no go. The point of a compact case is to be able to have it in tight places. but with IOon top you need at least another 10cm of clearance to use it... the i could just buy any ATX case...
350D is old and needs a refresh, Core V21 is another dualwide.. Evolv has shit IO placement and Air 240 is another dualwide..

+Arek R. Yeah they got me pumped up when they revealed their Enthoo Elite at Computex earlier this year but they STILL haven't released it yet. The Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass edition was a flop too. They could of done so much more to improve the features and design elements, but they literally just slapped a tempered glass side panel on and called it a day. Disappointing considering the improvements that NZXT made for their S340 TG edition.
P400(S) is still a very good case. although the interior is the same as enthoo evolv atx/enthoo pro m, there is nothing wrong for a good design to be used again. p400(s) fixes the front fan mounting frame design in pro m and evolv atx for more airflow and lower noise generated.

Watercooling is cool idea, we can achieve high overclocks and still silence.
But when I thing about these leaks I wouldnt sleep well, so I go with huge air coolers.

Silentbase 600 is a good case in my opinion, especially because they don't target watercooling. It's a case for silent Air cooling, in which you don't want to have any fans on the top to begin with..
MyKeyz I have one, and everything he said is true. It is "built" for Air cooling but it fails so hard by having so many obstructions. It is literally pointless to put a fan on the forward top mount. Also the front panel is such an old design and it is just awkward to work with.
Other then that, it is a good case with nice sound dampening, but I wouldn't pay full price for it.
alcowherd7 Well, what hardware did you have in there? I built an friend of mine a pc in that case and the cooling is very good. 6700k overclocked to 4.5Ghz @1.34V max temp ~69C cooled by a BeQiet Dark Rock 3 and an Msi gtx 1070 with a custom fan curve where the max is set to 45% Fanspeed under full load ~65C. That all while beeing almost SILENT. And I am a noise freak to the point where I spend 1200€ on cooling just to be dead silent.
MyKeyz 4690k with hyper 212. Stock clocks and 970. I'm not saying the cooling is bad, but it could have been better and the obstructions just make no sense.
I have be quiet 600 and i wasted my money... comparing it to my older r4
headshakes1989 Yup it was either the 600 or the r4, but every one of my friends PCs that I built have been an r4 or r5 so I said screw it lets be different.
I would love to see Fractal make a Define R6 next year.

I think they might have something in the works at the moment. Just saw their limited edition white and gold R5 which has a top removable dust filter.
I thought Fractal Define R5 looked so good. But when I went to a computer store to actually see the case in person and got chocked how cheap and plastic it felt.

Are you kidding? It's quality is great for the price. I had an NZXT Phantom 630 (which costs more) before it and the qualtiy difference was day and night. The Phantom had flimsy light panels compared to the R5's thick solid build.

The Pro 900 looks epic, i would have gotten it, but it's $300 CAD. So i got a NZXT H440 for half the price.
Yeah, I got the Silent Base 800 for less than half the price of the 900 Pro. Good features come with such a high but reasonable price!
It has a few Flaws, but I'm so sad the Evolve ATX TG didn't get a higher placement. Its the most beautiful case I've seen.

björn sjöblom I bought the case after his review. For my first case it worked well, could've had better cable management that probably is a big let down for consumers.
havent tryed to build in it myself but it looks really good imo and its pretty unique with its top fan layout and that bee nest pattern:)pretty good price to:)but yeah cable manegement need to be easy and clean aswell:)
björn sjöblom There's is space for 140mm fans buy just not any options for the intake. Also placements of fans is awkward. Even now my first intake fan is slightly kinking the front panel connectors.
have the same problem with intake fans on my 805 but its look awesome but i can agree that they maybe dont have the smartest layout^^hmm thats sucks :S
pretty good case but cable management is a challenge and its very sturdy

HardwareCanucks The only great thing about the Dark Base 900 IMO is that you can change the motherboard tray direction, that's all honestly...nothing special and the case costs like 250$?? Seriously ??
I think I would stick with 760T or Evolv ATX instead. Corsair should consider releasing a Tempered Glass 760T / 780T.
Maybe a full glass upgrade like their 470 or was it 460.
+Eric Tan Nothing special? What other case of the same dimensions can you fit 420+360mm rads together and room for a couple of other rads at the rear and bottom? I nearly bought one, but that horrible design at the other side and no PSU shroud put me off. In terms of watercooling support, it's one of the best for it's size though. I was going to do a 420+280+280mm rad build in there. You can't even fit a 420mm rad in the Phanteks Evolv ATX and my current Phanteks Enthoo luxe doesn't support 280mm rads at the front or bottom.
Eric you're probably the only one thinking that. It really has the most features while being quiet. Remember: it's from be quiet. High-class fans already built in, great support from be quiet (they even send you screws for whatever radiator size you need for free) and you have every possibility with customization.

Honestly... I'm not sure how you can call a case with a predefined colour scheme "top case of the year", regardless of its features.
But maybe that's just me.

How about an INWIN 805? I believe you can change the color through a software. 805i edition, not the black or red.
ok let me tell you why I returned my Dark Base pro 900
Main Chamber not big enough for large motherboards like my Rampage V Extreme, it covers more than half of the holes to run the cables to the back.
Forget about thick 360 radiators on top, my EK coolstream XE fit ok but you cant use the top optical drive cage, and only has two.
You cannot put a thick 280 radiator in the front either, with a 45mm rad, you block the hard drive cages, even if you remove them space is tight.
Large power supplies will block half of the space for the fan mounting at the bottom, so forget about putting a radiator there.
Lowering the MB tray will free some space on top, but you'll sacrifice the bottom PCIe slots. so watercooled SLI setups might be a challenge
Might be a great chassis, but definitely not designed for large hardware nor a big custom loop,

for reasons i to decided upgrade my system starting with a new case, yesterday i went and took my time choosing one based on what little experience i have and after an hour i decided for the corsair 460X RGB, then went a head and watched some reviews and all to find out that it's not a new case, so i decided to watch ( top cases of 2017-2016-2015-2014 ), then found it here, i was soooo happy when i saw it as one of the best cases LOL

i bought the be quiet dark base 900 pro all because of your awesome and really helpfull review of it, im happy to see that it even got the case of the year award aswell now. so far im really happy with how the case and ive even plonked in a custom watercooling loop. all i can say is thanks for showing it to me!
Another very well done video....I bought the Phantek Enthoo Evolv for my current build awhile back due to your excellent review on this case.
I'm sure some will question some of your choices, but I found them well selected in each category. Particularly the Phanteks P400S, but many well designed and innovative selections for all budgets and needs here.
And even Corsair looks to be getting their act back together again.

i was originally gonna build my own case or build it into a handmade desk but as this is my first pc build im leaning more and more on just buying an existing case. these reviews and awards help me make my decision both on what i want from the case and what i don't want. earned a sub from me :)

You should add the category of "Most Accommodating Case" for those who provide nice extras with their cases, like Phanteks with their fan controllers and WONDERFUL screw and accessory boxes. Makes building so much more enjoyable when things are nicely organized and labeled.
