You should build a control for the siren that runs it for 3-4 seconds every day at noon to alert the town that it's 12:00. We have a similar function in my town. It's good to have a reminder.! Great series though, I've been following along with the current videos for a while now and am going back through the videos I missed.
Thanks for watching along the problem with making the alarm. Go off every once in a while is that we’re not occupying the building we have it rented out to other people.
In my town they run the sirens for different reasons towards the end of the day. They have been doing that for many many years and honestly I’m not sure how they are still allowed to get away with it, it was meant to let certain people know they needed to go home😮
That's a very neat siren you have there! Most old towns in the Pee Dee don't have much of anything so it's amazing it's gotten use put forward with it again!
Lol, My father use to run a Ambulance service in Jacksonville, NC in the 50s. For the longest times he still had one of them old ambulance sirens and as a kid in the 80s I would hook it up to a battery charger and drive the neighbors crazy. Good times.
Cool Siren. Arkansas usually Uses Alert for Tornado Warnings & Alternate Wail for Firecalls. Different State Regions Use Different Siren Signals for Different Things.
When I first saw the title of the video I read it as *"Replacing* the Old Air Horn" and I was like, "aww, too bad they couldn't just fix it up rather than replacing it!" -- I'm glad to see that I read it wrong.
It's one of the only original things left on the building that gives it character. I don't know when they added it but it's been sitting there watching the town for a long time, we had to keep it!
I have a Motorola Spectra VHF two way radio with the amplifier and siren and control box. It does all 5 sirens and an air horn. You can hear it miles away I don't know what to do with it.
There was also a bell up there, and a loud speaker. So the bell was hooked to the police station phone, if somebody called the police station, the cop that was walking around downtown on the sidewalk would hear the bell ringing and go back to the station to answer the phone! This was before call waiting or voice mail. I'm not sure what they used the loudspeaker for, the siren we think was for the fire station.
@@LyonsArcade Good move. You're making a real difference to the street with the upgrades and refurbishments. Excellent thing to do. Good luck with it all.
That's a mighty fine siren you have there! These smaller Darley sirens aren't too commonly seen out in the wild! I picked one of these up not too long ago; however, my model number is C987 (so perhaps a misprint?), and in advertising these were referred to as the "Advance Alarm Siren." Mine appears to have some motor troubles, unfortunately; the commutator arc and sparks a fair bit, but one of these days, I'll give it a proper tear down to diagnose the problem! th-cam.com/video/W1orWml1I4E/w-d-xo.html

Is it the air raid siren from WWII?
I believe it’s the fire siren from when it was a fire house

siren is ineffective, a proper alert would be Ronnie on a loop going "Hey people, c'mon now people"
