Great review mate. I'm looking into getting a D90, not a T60, but there are not that many owner reviews of LDV vehicles, and yours is one of those few... Thanks for honestly sharing your negative experiences, really appreciated (those key in proximity of the battery draining it issues are just flat out ridiculous man 🤷‍♂️ ??? the fact that you need to keep living with jumper cables in your ute is really not good... very helpful that you captured those, as dealers certainly won't tell us!)

No worries! I should note that I haven't had issues with the newer T60 - but saying that I don't risk it any more, I always make sure my keys are kept well away from the vehicle!

Yes I agree. It's why a lot of people don't buy first gen products. My new LDV (2nd gen) doesn't have any of these issues. I have a review up of that as well.

I really enjoyed your review. I haven't had my 2018 Maxus very long. I totally agree with everything you have said. For the money I paid for it compared to other utes. I consider it a good buy. Just the suspension I've found to be bouncy and the diesel engine has a pronounced knock in it. I know diesel engines have that diesel knock. For piece of mind I'll take it in and get the tappets checked. The appearance is an EYE CATCHER. Color Black. I've got the chrome frame on the tray which amplifies its looks even more. The battery could be another issue down the line. When I lock up. The headlights do a shut down performance. Maybe there's something in the Manual about that.

Isn't this the model Queensland judge recently described this as a poor quality metal rust bucket when he ordered a full refund to the buyer in Australia. Not sure I'd buy one, probably better to offload it before it disappears on you piece by peice.

Cheers mate. More of a revision for me. I picked up my 2021 basic T60 two weeks ago. All good so far. There are a few differences on the new model compared to the older version. The suspension is now tuned by Walkinshaw and seems to handle pretty well although still bouncy when empty. A bit underpowered but I won’t be towing a caravan although living in Tasmania I notice it does struggle on some of the hills. Luckily the power and eco switches seem to fix that. And yes, the blind spot warning lights still activate occasionally especially when it is raining hard. Apart from that I am satisfied (so far). Anyway, thanks for the review.

OK so I think its an ok review from your point of view, but here's mine. I live in a small town where I was the first to get a T60 luxury model. That was 2018. My steering locked up one day as I was driving, turned out the steering pump packed up. I've got rust in the door sills, battery packing up, wipers are not working consistently, Radio couldn't get a station in my area cause I was out of range until after my 3rd windscreen they ended up putting this one in and whammo, I got a station cause that's where the aerial is, but here's the biggest. I think they are a death trap. When you hit a pot hole in the road, they bounce across the road, to a point where thank god I didn't hit anyone, and I was only going 98km, I ended up in the opposition's lane. So I put the best tyre's on and still no change. There's more but I needed to share that last one. Yes the warranty covered my steering problem, but I was in a remote area when it happened, with no cell phone coverage so you can imagine. 4 others in my town have got rid of theirs because of problems. The dealers say this and that, but I say piece of shit every time I look at my ute.
I thought about putting the 20 inch wheels on but my mate said he did and and no difference. I carry the jumper leads and starter pack now too. WTF

    • @LightTherapyInsiders
      @LightTherapyInsiders  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey mate, thanks for the comment!
My review was based on my experience after 20-30k and like you said for my use it was OK (though the battery issues + air con issue + lack of radio did all cause a lot of grief!). So it's interesting (and unfortunate) to hear about your experiences, though many people will find it very useful.
TBH I'm someone who is happy stretching the budget to get something reliable and a bit more premium, but I didn't really apply this rule to my ute purchase. Well I did and I didn't. Originally I just wanted a old ute for the farm, something that I could take hunting or fishing or throw some firewood in and not worry about it getting banged up.
But with second hand ute prices being so crazy, I figured a new 'budget' ute would be a better move - as it would have the warranty and certainty that it hadn't been thrashed etc.
But like you, I had problems (though not as bad!) and I also got to a point where I had to carry around a battery jump back and jumper leads as I was caught out a few times.
I do think the new gen model is a step up - they've squashed a lot of those bugs. And that was another thing about my original purchase - buying a first gen model of anything is always a bit silly. In fact I think my ute was one of the first into the country - I often got a call saying bring it in for a software update!
So far with my second gen 2021 T60 Ive had no real troubles, but i've only had it a few months so it's early days.
I guess the saying 'you get what you pay for' rings true!

Rust does seem to be a huge issue - The Gold Coast corts just ruled in favor of plaintiff on a 2018 model that had rusted out to the point of being unsafe to drive just from being parked near the beach for a couple of years. The judges ruling based on expert assessment was poor quality materials. More worrying is the attitude of LDV AU who took this to court even though there was little chance of a win, and high chance of dragging their own brand through the muck.

I just had a look at your Gym Girls Talk about Gym bros ! Funny As- Dating - Date Coach video - it appears that the audio wasn't being recorded from the microphone. Was it setup properly? Some cameras require you to change the audio recording setting from 'camera' (i.e. it's internal mic) to 'external'.
The Ranger and T60 aren't direct competitors - Ranger being high end, LDV being the low end. The Ranger is going to be a better ute - but when it comes to value, in my opinion the T60 is better. You should also check out my 2021 T60 review - th-cam.com/video/Cpr-lEGFFbI/w-d-xo.html

I have had my work car for a year now, All tech on this car do not work on my one. Blind spot blinks as much as I do, auto wipers are so random that I use manual, headlights flash people constantly when you get any shade. But the most ANNOYING THING IS THAT USELESS RADIO! ANDROID DOESN'T WORK AND AUTOMATICALLY STARTS ON VOLUME 15 every time you turn the key on! Not too bad for a budget vehicle if you can handle no tech reliability. Had my windscreen replaced and there is no airbags behind the front pillars where it says airbags FYI.

I've been driving an isuzu bighorn since 2006, it's been a great wagon, never broken down on me. But it's showing its age and time has come, with the bank willing to lend me cheap cash, to update. I've done some serious reviews and am finding it hard to beat these for value. Hoping to test drive 1 tomorrow and fingers xd I might be the owner of 1 within the next month. Unless I see an offer I can't refuse. All the reviews ive seen or read speak highly of the t60 and only really knock the power. But its a big upgrade from the bighorn so it'll be more than enough for. Thanks for the great review.

I drive a pajero which can run permanent 4x4 on tarmac (great safety in rain and when greasy). Maybe I should try and get my hands on one and do a side by side comparison with the Maxus. That would be neat! In short a surf club manager on the gold coast purchased one, After 2 years it was completely rusted out. He asked for his money back as a 2 year old ute shouldn't need 40k+ worth of rust and other mechanical repairs. They made him take them to court instead of honoring their obligations under the law. Yes thats the one! I just picked up the new Maxus last week. I went for the same red color. I'm told that these are the only two red T60's in NZ. I think they look good with the black styling. Though my old ute (the one in this video) looks slightly better than my new Maxus. I'll film a short update video soon to explain why.
The new Maxus does have much better suspension btw. It was the first thing I noticed. Tell a lie - the crystal clear radio quality was the first thing I noticed, the improved ride was second!

Hi Alex great review mate, question have you got your new Ute and how long did you have to wait. I’ve also just recently ordered my new Ute but 4 weeks later still waiting.

Hey. Yup I have it. I've done 2000km on it now. I'm hoping to shoot a video on it tomorrow all going well.
Yeah it took me ages - it was a couple of months actually. It's the same for all utes. Ford have a few months wait list I believe.
