  • This ceiling fan controller from Brilliant Lighting is Tuya Based and work so well with Home Assistant, I've been using one for a few months and the kids love having one in their rooms to turn the light on and off and to change the fan as well.

    Today we are going to install an Airlie II Ceiling fan 48inch with 4 blades, to try out this controller, it is a fan I frequently use, I think it is a good mix of it looks good, works well and is not too expensive. Then we will set it up on Home Assistant using Tuya Local, for local control on my network with the cloud not required after setup is completed.
    If you live in Perth I can supply and/or install this fan and controller please see www.egglec.com.au
    The fan is available at Beacon Lighting - www.beaconlighting.com.au/air...
    The controller at Bunnings-

    Awesome, between your previous video and this one I was able to get my random wall switch and RGB led bulb integrated into home assistant. For some reason they never were detected even though I had the web api configured, but once I got the local key all worked out and understood how to read the device id it all clicked!

    Is there any way to get the fan speed in a drop-down list instead of the slider?

    Great video James, much appreciate the Australian context. Your pairing of the controller with the app went very smoothly but I've tried all sorts of things and am not having any luck. The cabling should be correct because I'm able to use the remote and control the fan. The manual talks about an LED that blinks but I can't see it - can you point it out to me please? Thanks

      Just answering for anyone who might see this in the future: I set my ASUS AX router to 2.4GHz legacy mode and was able to pair the controller. I then changed my Wifi settings back to Auto (so not legacy mode) and it's still working, so it looks like I just had to set legacy to get it paired.

    Does anyone know if bunnings still sell these? They're not coming up when I search the website.

    Great video for the fan install, but can you run through the switch you are using on the shelly? Trying to find a decent push button switch :)

      Hi Bitsorbytes, I use the Clipsal 30PBBP-WE, it's not to expensive, and looks ok. Other buttons will work, like the legrand EM800SLAVEWE and Iconic Range has the 41EPBM-VW which are both better, but way more expensive. The only problem with the 30PBBP-WE is it has contacts for upto 16A, the shelly only has 3.3v and 1mA of current, which can lightly corrode the switch terminal and it slowly stops work as well as when it was new.

    good video Jimmy. Do you know of any way to integrate home assistant with DC fans?

    • @SparkyJames
      @SparkyJames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      DC fan controller tend to be specific to the fan unfortunately, so you’ll need to get a fan that is Tuya based, I’ve got a Sky fan DC that almost works with HA it just need a minor update to esphome to make it work properly

    Where's your wagos you cheap bastard lol. The brilliant smart fan controller I got was a bit different with a rf push button wall controller, it even worked with Tuya convert! I can understand if it's for the kids they probably don't like it when you hack their things.
    Cheers anyway for showing us the Tuya integration! Should try out the Lucci/Trader bluetooth controller, they've got an API so we should be able to get them to work in Home Assistant.

      This one was very easy to integrate, especially if your setup with Tuya local and the Tuya dev account. I’m more of a wifi guy because you don’t need addition hubs or dongles, but I know lots like the zigbee and Bluetooth route

    Great video as usual! I've bought a few of these over the past few weeks from Bunnings. Have you had any issues with pairing to your wifi? I cannot get them to pair for the life of me. Re-watched your video several times and seems all you had to do was power off for a few seconds then back on. Gone through the whole process with Brilliant support (turn off for 3secs then back on for 1sec and repeat 4 times but still nothing)......then they told me that you had to have a light on the fan for it to work which you clearly don't.
    BTW - most of these type of devices flatly just don't support 5Ghz wifi as they don't have the 5Ghz radio in them to keep costs and size down

      I’ve not had a problem before, your right they only connect to 2.4ghz, if your phone is on a 5ghz network it won’t pair. Some routers have an ssid for 2.4ghz if you can use an ssid like that it will easier. They should just come ready to pair, I think there is a reset to put it in pair mode, it’s in the manual that is in the box, I can’t find it anywhere else though , as in online anywhere. From memory turn the fan off then on 5 times, to force it to pair. I’ll check and come and edit this if I’m incorrect.

      Hi Alan, did you ever resolve this? I think I have the exact same issue. Thinking it was a wifi issue I disable 5GHz but still not pairing

    Hi, Tuya local automatically detects that the fan is a Treatlife DS03 ceiling fan and light. but this does not work, any tips?

    • @skywalknotpossible
      @skywalknotpossible 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah, this procedure doesn't work anymore. The HA detects it as Tuya, I enter the user code I can find in the brilliant app, but once the QR code pops up and I scan it with the brilliatn app, it says it needs to be scanned with another APP. I'm quite stuck.

    • @skywalknotpossible
      @skywalknotpossible 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      actually, it does work. You just need to put it the fan into the paring mode, and pair it in Tuya Smart app. After that it will pop up in HA
