Thank you so much for making this video, my grandpa had a 1988 thunderbird. He got it new and it was his favorite car and he kept it running all these years until he got too old to do it. It got flooded and he couldn't drive it anymore. He passed away about a month ago and now his car is being passed on to me and I'm going to do everything I can to restore it! Damn it, James! Did you just make me watch an ad with sheer anticipation??!! 🤣😎 Big thumbs up to your graphics department! Ad was dope AF! Now back to the show!!
This episode holds a close spot in my heart. My first car was a 95 SC T-Bird and I miss it so much. If ever given the chance, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.
My husband watches these videos and I love them. We watched over 50 and all I got from them is, LIGHTING, LIGHTING, LIGHTING and Pop up up and down headligggghts.
Pretty solid coverage of the years. My dad had an 87 turbo coupe, and a 93 V6 cougar. I had a 97 4.6 thunderbird. Last year they made them. I currently own a 1992 5.0 XR7 cougar. It's my dream car. And she's a mint survivor! Team MN12!
That Valvoline ad healed my depression..... (Side note: Depression is a serious matter, but in my opinion i would rather watch that ad itself rather than those “vines that healed my depression” videos.)
A video I can finally relate with. My father had 3 '79 Thunderbirds. One he had before I was around, it was gold, one was black with a contrast vinyl top, and the last was a maroon Heritage Edition. He daily drove them up until 2010 when he got rid of the Heritage. Edit: They skipped the 70s, but it's important to note that the '77-'79 generation was the best selling generation of the Thunderbird.
My grandpa had a '77 he took from Tulsa to San Diego and back. He loved it. But he eventually traded it for a first-gen Expedition. I have his 1974 Chevy Monte Carlo, but he always said the T-Bird handled better. All I got was rust, a ratty vinyl top, and A/C that'll freeze a penguin.
@@henryrodgers7386 My father preferred his Thunderbirds over any of the other cars he had as well, with exception to the '72 Mach 1 R-Code he bought new and drove the balls out of until 1976. He said the one car buying mistake he regrets was a new car purchase around 1978. He was in the showroom and he was buying an LTD II or a Thunderbird. He chose the LTD because it was $500 less, but the car gave him a variety of issues. One issue was Ford routed the wires under and into the middle of the driver's foot well. His heel wore the wires down and he drove home in the dark with no lights. In or outside the car. He never had premature issues with his T-Birds. In 2005ish the transmission started slipping in the black car, and the Heritage had what I'm now assuming was a carb issue or vacuum leak when he got rid of it. I was only 11 at the time, but he had to put it in Neutral at lights. It's been sitting in his sister's yard for 10 years now. He now drives a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, his first new car since '86 and his first car since retirement 10 years ago. When he took me for a ride in it, he mentioned it didn't ride as good as the Thunderbird. No shit, Sherlock, it's a Jeep not a Lincoln. He doesn't really drive it. He bought it to go to camp with, but he only just got a lot this year, so I've been keeping the wheels turning on it until now. It has 32,000 kilometers on it, my Dad only put 4000 on it.
I've finally found this video! I love thunderbird! I own an 87 v6. She's stock at the moment but not for long! Thank Donut for posting this american classic

This was my grandfather’s dream car. He never got to buy one. He died. He had the chance to get the retro thunderbird and he should have gotten it, but he didn’t.
I have a 1995 and a 1989 Thunderbird Super Coupe. Insanely comfy and pretty sporty especially the handling. They were the only cars other than the corvette at the time to have independent rear suspension and rear wheel drive. Muffler shop I took the 95 SC to said they thought someone had swapped a corvette rear end onto my car.
Super coupes are awesome. I had a complete power train that was supposed to go in my 95 mustang, but never got to it. As far as I’m concerned the 3.8 supercharged was far superior to the 5.0
I have an 89 SC in white in my garage right now with blown head gaskets. It's been a pain the ass getting down to them. I finally got down to the fuel rails, but Im stuck on the rear studs. I'm aching to get it running because I only had it going for ~300 miles before it got so bad that it'd overheat after 6 minutes. It's at 109k. Dad bought it new in 89.

I know this is an old video so nobody will see it but an old couple looking to get rid of their 86 thunderbird damn near gave it away to me. It was in pristine condition with all original parts and interior. The one and only thing that didn’t work was the gas gauge sensor which is getting fixed. It was straight out of that scene from Joe Dirt where the sweet old lady didn’t need the hemi and didn’t need the money so she said give me what you got in your pockets and its yours. The old couple basically did that with me because life has really kicked my ass the past few years and I was desperate for a break after my car literally fell apart while I was driving down the road 60mph. Anyway I couldn’t be more grateful for one to have a fully functioning car again but not only that. An almost perfect classic. I can’t see myself ever getting rid of it. Even if it breaks down. I will gladly put the money into it when I can.
I'm gonna say....like the first 25 seconds I felt a tiny bit weird without facial hair. After those seconds, my crew and myself loved the history. I would like to thank you...and also we are very happy you lived through your weird heart problem. I cannot wait for the future.
