    Can anyone speak to the heat coming out of the radiator vent fans built into the fairing area? I test rode the Rally Pro model for 20-25 minutes on a combination of side streets and highway and was really shocked at the amount of heat blowing directly onto my knees. Other than that, I really like the bike and had planned to purchase one until I discovered this on the test ride. It gave me some concern that it was that hot after only a 20 minute test ride. I started to think what it would feel like after taking a 2-3 hour road trip. No one else had ridden that bike on that day so the bike was not hot from another rider before I test rode it. I've seen a couple people mention it on other reviews but people don't seem to be talking about it too much, possibly because the bike has just started to come in to the dealerships here in the US in the last 4-6 months or so.

      I've got the same feelings. Like reviewers are afraid to tell something really negative about the bike. Maybe it was designed to be ridden in colder English weather. Today I was riding my Cb500x which does not heat at all (maybe a little on the left side) and it was 33 °C outside. If I would have another heat being produced around the knees, then I'd have to say goodbye to Triumph and pick the 900Xr or 850 GS. I'm glad my Honda does not grill me 😁

    • @scottbaer
      @scottbaer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Freelancer919 LOL, grill you! Ha! Yes, I kind of have the same feeling about not many people mentioning it. The first I heard of it was when the guy from Drivemag Riders mentioned it in his youtube review so I made a mental note to check it out when I did my test ride. Sure enough, I noticed it within the first 10 minutes of riding. I totally understand (and appreciate) Triumph's engineering to split the radiator to try and dissipate heat, lower the engine and move it forward a bit more for a lower center of gravity. It definitely helps with handling of the bike. But, what I can't understand is why they have the fan vents blowing directly towards the rider, hitting them in the legs/knees. You would think they would have tried to direct the fan vents either down or out of the sides somehow. It's an odd design in my opinion. But again, it's definitely a sweet bike and I love the size, handling, power, electronics, etc. just not that vent fan design. When I got back to the dealership and mentioned the heat vent/fan issue to the sales guy, he got a funny look on his face like other people had mentioned that to him also but he didn't want to admit it. He tried to make it sound like it would be hardly noticeable with proper motorcycle pants (I was wearing jeans for the test ride), but sometimes I just like to ride with jeans instead of motorcycle pants. He also mentioned as the bike gets more "broken in" the heating issue should be less. I don't know if that's true or not but I don't really believe that. I do believe however, that motorcycle pants/gear would probably help. Needless to say, I am going to keep looking. I'm waiting for any new information to come out about the new middleweight Honda "baby" Africa Twin (possibly called Transalp) as well as the Norden 701 and 901. Maybe we'll here something about those bikes in September, or definitely in November at EICMA.

      @@kenshiro882002 I road the Rally a week ago in Fort Worth TX and didn't notice any heat though I was mostly on the highway and I ride a Harley that roasts you well done. I did my first 2750km on my new Tiger 900 GT (not the Pro; to much expensive for me) & i am really in love 😍. Great bike for twisty roads & very good on gravel/dirt roads; but, when OEM tires will be dead, i will install Michelin Anakee Adventure or Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR. Perfect bike for me. I dont need a 21 inches front wheel. After watching some reviews, i was afraid of the “to much vibey” engine; but, for me, its not vibey at all! Maybe its because my previous bike was a CB500X 😉. I bought the OEM Triumph crash bars, but not their thin aluminium skid plate; i will wait to buy a good after market 4mm thick aluminium skid plate (actually : none available). I also hope that knee grip pads will be soon available. Best regards from Montreal.

      Hi Trekky, I also bought a GT, only last month and already have clocked 2500km! I just want to ride it all the time, amazing machine. I can vouch for everything you said. As for the bash plate check this link out. Great review, thanks. Please can you do a comparison video between this Ralley Pro and the GT Pro. Very interesting in the difference between the roadhandling, not so much about the offroad differences then its rather obvious that the Ralley Pro handles that better. But what about roadhandling? Is the Ralley Pro equal to the GT? Is the Ralley Pro a real swiss army knife that just handles everything better or is the GT a better option when you just ride more onroad than offroads like me?

    Really enjoyed your updated review from the launch - highlighted some great points!! I've done over 10,000 miles on the Tiger 900 Rally Pro and absolutely loving it. I'm not a hardcore off-road rider so I enjoy the comfort this bike offers for long-distance travelling and I feel very confident off-road with it as well as it handles really easily! Never had an issue with the steering lock before ... how odd ... I'll pay attention now, maybe I just got used to it haha

    4000 miles on my rally Pro. 50/50 riding on and off road in Colorado. Not sure why would you would do a review and not mention the brakes or suspension but maybe I missed it? Both are magnificent in my opinion. Triumph literally did everything that the rags told them to do to improve the tiger 800. I've literally seen reviews from so-called Pros that say it's too good. I've owned a KTM 690, tiger 1200, tiger 800, wr450 f and this bike is all of them welded into one in my opinion. Anybody that says this is not an off-road capable bike when the proper tires are mounted either cannot ride off road or is a complete tosser.

    Steering lock is really easy, look down at the key lock barrel you will see the silver lock bolt as you turn the key, the barrel has a mark on it, align the silver bolt and mark as you turn the key.

    Followed my heart and not my head and traded in my 2017 Street Triple RS and brought the Rally Pro with the green tank and white frame what a bike, its bonkers real world fast. The Striple RS has more break horse power at 123bhp compared to the Tiger 900 T plane's 94bhp but the mid range torque of the Tiger 900 is there in any gear at any speed.
