I’m here in 2019, this song reminds me of a very dark time in my life almost 6 years ago. I used to play this song on replay, for some odd reason it made me comfortable in my depression. I used to cut almost every week and I suffered from anorexia. Was 30 pounds underweight and cried everyday. Today I’m a completely different person. Now I’m reminded of how far I came and I actually have tears of joy. If you’re suffering from depression, you have to find the light 💡 it won’t find you. you have to run towards the light.
So glad you are out of that now. My son is called Daniel and he was like that too. This always makes me think of those times, and fortunately he doesn't do that any more. Life is fragile, I will always hold onto this song. 💖

This struck a nerve. I was watching a bbc documentary about Kate Bush and Natasha Khan is a fan and she was discussing what Kate meant to her...I remembered she sang Daniel and here i'am. I've just been diagnosed with depression and anxiety and have started medication. I've been in dark place but I want to get better. I will get better.

"Conjure" couldn't be a more appropriate word. A lot of the entertainment industry, particularly the 2 to 4 minute pop song medium, is nothing but spellcasting. I mean that. The effect pop culture has on youth and even on grown adults is almost trance like.
This song always makes me feel so nostalgic, melancholic and hopeful at the same time. It reminds me of a very turbulent part of my life. I used to listen to this song at that time 🥹

@@eglerusso we were only good friends (I was the one in love) and with time I parted ways because being together -as friends- broke me, but sometimes we run into each other and it's still a good friendship.
But I feel both friendship and song as a good thing and it's always a good feeling, of wishing to go back home/ to him because he always treated me with respect. We were 13 when I confessed being in love with him, and he never stoped talking to me. And I also always respected his feelings and sexuality, which means not being into guys.
There's also this song called Hopelessly Slipping Away by Ayreon, with a similar idea and the protagonist is also named Daniel. It's weird but I always meet people named Dan, Daniel, Daniela and so on.

I think it was around 2009, that song must've been new, I broke up with my girlfriend at the time. she didn't take it well, I think she truly thought she loved me. I think she thought she was the problem but it was we who was and who was troubled. I still am. she sent me this song at the time and I though it was cheesy. now, some 14 years later I've remembered the song, I'm alone, I think she's married with kids. Just finished watching Cobra Kai. Khan probably should watch, it's a love letter to the movies, and also, stands on it's own, not only on the nostalgia. An example of how film makers can embrace the mythos without destroying it.
Clearly I've never seen the end of this video, although I've known and liked the song for a long time, because I never knew the song was about The Karate Kid. Maybe it's because I was born in the early eighties but knowing that she has a love for Lost Boys, Karate Kid etc makes her even more endearing to me on top of her talent in general and lets be honest her beauty. Making art out of a fascination with things that other people might see as disposable eighties movies is also a great juxtaposition that betrays little to no pretension.
