Its great to see Trump competing in pool as its beneficial for both sports. Finally, a modern snooker great playing competitive pool Loved watching the old Mosconi Cups with Ronnie, Jimmy White, Steve Davis... Now in HD! He does play good defense. The break is hard but a bit sloppy. He would be good if he played more.
      I actually think the biggest problem the snooker guys have is not knowing how to use heavy spin. You can see it with Trump a couple times here. Some of them also have strokes that aren't powerful enough to compete with the best players.

    "They barely play with English in snooker" ?? Lool. In snooker there's spin on just about every shot, and they're playing on a much bigger distance which makes playing accurately with side infinitely more difficult. Sir I'd like to see you play a straight long pot on a snooker table and screw back with side to play a shot at the other end of the table.

      They really don't. And it is one of the reasons some of these guys have such a hard time in pool. Hitting a long draw is not with is being referred to. It's the sidespin. The shot at 12:50 shows that lack of understanding perfectly.
      Even a good amateur would not end up where Trump did. That is only from not knowing how to use spin.
      When you snooker fans/players talk about spin I don't think you realize how much the top pool players are using and how they're utilizing it to spin off the rails around the table.

      @@johntallanger4036 When high level snooker players are in amongst the reds they practically have the cue ball on a string. It's the difference cue and ball size that makes it more difficult to transition.
      With that said the top snooker players have shown over the years that they can give a good account of themselves in American Pool. There's not a pool player on earth that is taking a frame from a ranked snooker player

    • @johntallanger4036

      @@worldz_gone_crazy4398 No one really plays it. There just isn't any interest in the game outside of England. That said, there are some guys who could win matches. Kaci, Pagulayan, Duel. Not sure if anyone else has even cared enough to try. It's a niche sport in England. You might as well learn Russian pyramid.
      The snooker guys who transitioned took it seriously. Also they're playing short race 9 ball, which is kind of fluky. No snooker player has ever become a top ranked pool player. Mark Grey is probably the closest thing and he'd get blown out of the water by the true top players.
      No disrepect, just being honest. The snooker guys have really good control on short stun shots. And they play great D. But they just lack the cue power and spins to get to that next gear. Steve Davis and Grey are the best examples of that. They just don't have enough weapons to string big runs.

    Enjoying the commentary a lot especially the input from the American. These are very tight pockets for American pool aren’t they. A bit tighter than their normal comp tables. Judd’s miss on the one ball in the last frame highlights this. And the middle pockets that size and that cut are not friendly.
    In general these pockets are a big bigger and friendlier than the snooker Judd is used to, but not by much. And perhaps the middles are around about equivalent?

    • @johntallanger4036
      @johntallanger4036 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, these are tighter than most. But that has been the trend in pool for a while now. Cloth has also gotten quicker so it's not really any more difficult than the old setups where the pockets were bigger but the cloth was so slow you had to power the ball more.
      I'd say they're a little friendlier but not by much.
      The real challenge for a snooker player coming to pool was mentioned by the announcer. They're not as accustomed to using heavy spin. They're also not as used to playing off the rails. Snooker is a lot more stun shots.
      They all do seem to play excellent defense though. And Trump's break showed promise.

    • @jakeg3296
      @jakeg3296 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The professional snooker tables are 3.3 inches at the narrowest compared to 4.5 inches on a “tight” pool pocket .
      The snooker ball is 2 and 16 th compared to 2 and a 1/4 pool ball.
      The pockets on the 9 ball table are “ buckets” in comparison.
      Chinese 8 ball, in China is played with snooker style/ size pockets only with the 2/ 1/4 “ balls making it a more difficult potting game.
      Watch Earl Strickland and Van Boening play this game.
      Russian Pyramids are even tighter pockets.
      However snooker is by far the more skilful of the cue sports because precise cue ball control is more of a necessity for big breaks which are essential at the professional level.
      A pure pool player will improve his game by playing snooker but a snooker player will be advised to avoid pool as it could damage his/ her technique.

    Yeah Judd is ace really taken to 9 ball most of the snooker players are not that good on the key shot namely the break off but Judd has a consistent break and run!
    I like the fact that he is still using his snooker stance where most including me have to have both legs bent for chin on cue shots.

    • @nikkip3385
      @nikkip3385 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If he didn't use his normal snooker stance he could really struggle when he's back on a snooker table.
      His cue action goes across the line of the shot which means his body (and cue) has to be in exactly the right position when he strikes the cue ball.
      If he changed stance that timing and body position would be all wrong.
      And let's face it, the snooker table is where he earns his living.

    • @thebenevolentsun6575

      Fear is a lot more visible today then ever before in life!... When you compare it to people who have lost lives in historic wars, compared that to sportspeople who are afraid to challenge themselves, you can sense right away that they've already lost before the start.

    As long as Trump keeps potting balls off the break I don't see anyone beating him. He's keeping control of the matches. Some of the shots he had off the breaks were difficult aswell.

      @Dr. Phillip Montgomery listening to the snooker people has been really informative. it shows how ignorant people can be and not realize it. trump is about at the level of a good amateur.

    • @johntallanger4036
      @johntallanger4036 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dr. Phillip Montgomery All very true. The snooker people don't realize how much cue power and spin is needed to be a top pool player. Even snooker guys that put in the work never get to that next gear where they can string big packs together.
      Also, yes, while 9 ball is pretty easy in some regard to actually beat the top guys over an extended period of time isn't. At that level you're talking about being great at everyhing: jumping, break, combos...coming with crazy shots.
