I tend to agree, smaller table with different ball rolls of the cushion normally find out a snooker player, but having said thad Judd would wipe the floor with these guys on a snooker table, and can still do so on the pool format
I don’t think you’re wrong, but I will point out that there are loads of competitive rooms and leagues in every country to develop your pool skills as a snooker player, but very few solid snooker rooms or leagues to develop your skills with in most countries. An American pool player trying to break into snooker is like an American baseball player breaking into cricket. I hate how some pool fans are trying to down grade Judd by saying that he can't win against top pool players🚮 It's his first try of this game and he's fairing well. I wonder if best pool players could beat bottom 70 of snooker players in a tournament
not at all, snooker is much more difficult discipline, the pockets are narrower and closer the object ball is to the cushion, the harder is potting it...
At the end of the day, if you clear up from the break and the winner breaks next, you could beat God if you break first. Judd is a cue master, he shouldn't be scared of anyone to be fair. If he breaks well, he wins! Ronnie would be the same🤔

Some of the Brits need to realize that in pool, only the top players are full-time pros. There's no money in pool past the first twenty or thirty places in the rankings. In the early 2010s a friend of mine was friends with the guy who ranked 27th, and he told me the guy had to drive to tournaments and sleep in his car. Most pool tournaments have lots of part time players, amateurs, former pros who have stepped away from the game full time, etc. My friend for instance is a 60+ year old rare book dealer and yet he plays in the pro tournaments that are local to him. I don't know who Joe is but I haven't seen him in a match before. With that said it's just lovely watching Judd on a pool table. He's got such a gorgeous stroke and his long shots are so pure.

he comes 6th in terms of most titles in snooker, and yes I know you're talking about his technique etc., and not wins, but it don't mean shit if you don't win. Anyway, I know this was 7 months ago but I had to chime in.
Honestly, snooker is so much more interesting to watch and is a better game overall. The setup and atmosphere is much better as well. I imagine pool is keeping up mainly because of its accessibility.
They are different games completely. This is a video of 9 ball, so keep snooker comparisons out of it as they have no context or reference to this video.
Watching a world snooker champion, as phenomenal as Judd Trump is still making mistakes / missing shots he'd never miss in his nightmares on a snooker table, proves this is a different game.
Would take Trump 2-3 year of solid only American pool table practise to be world-class but no doubt he would be. It doesn't take long at all to work out the different cushions. I bet he doesn't even know how to use the dots on the tables for working out the angles or banks etc yet.
Funny how the commentator was basically saying he needs to learn the angles, but ended up missing 2 shots. The discipline in snooker makes for a vicious potter. Look at mgees posture and cueing technique, i see better in the pub.
@@TheNuggzt3r look how low Judd gets when taking his shots, his cue is nice & flat, parallel to the table. judds back hand comes through the shot nice & straight. by comparison, Joe barely bends down, so his cue is angled down into the table
@@TheNuggzt3r there's also the legs, the leg on the same side as the arm you hold the cue should be straight and the foot pointing in the direction of the shot, while the other leg bends a little. Mcgee's legs stay to the side of the cue, really ugly stance
And snooker is not 100x harder. It's about 30% harder. Everything is smaller so ratios are the same but the size of table is longer making it about 30% harder. Played both and prefer snooker as it is much more exciting.
@@ddeboy002 9 ball is much more about power, while snooker is about finesse. You can see in the weight of the cue. As the commentators have said, any top shelf snooker player could make a name for themselves in pool, but not the other way round.

Thanks mate, we love you too. :-) I watch snooker, you 'should' watch more pool, it's good stuff. Take a look at some professional carom (three cushion pool), likely the most difficult stick and table game out there. When Ronnie came to the states and tried it out you could tell he really liked it...he said something about the delayed satisfaction, as many times up to five and occasionally six rails are involved in a shot, and pocketing counts exactly 0%, as there aren't any on the table. I was a bit surprised how well Ronnie adapted, totally different than snooker. And by difficulty I mean in running strings. Two completions on an inning is considered pro level play, and more than twenty is virtually unheard of, though it has happened, as I understand it. Also one pocket might hold some appeal, the strategy there has been likened to making it the chess of pool.

I'm not sure I'd like to see that. I don't mean to discredit Pool players, but Snooker is much, much harder. The top Snooker players might not be able to beat the top Pool players at Pool, but even fairly average Snooker players would wipe the floor with top Pool players at Snooker.
@@spareumbrella8477 it's actually the opposite. Most top pool pros are decent at snooker, but the best snooker players in the world (Ronnie, Trump, etc.) are trash at pool. Selby was originally a pool player and has won snooker world championships. Efren beat Ronnie at snooker back in the day. Jayson Shaw - the only actual pro that Trump played (who spanked him 11-0 or 10-1) has a 145 break. Snooker just isn't a hard game with the small balls, open pockets, about 50 balls to choose from, and the patterns get super repetitive. Plus the table is a bit bigger (12 ft vs the 9 or 10 feet typical in pool), so there's a lot more open space to work with (people who don't play pool usually don't realize that for good players it gets easier to break and run as the tables get bigger).
Not so sure about, because the different size between pool table and snooker table. The biggest different between two sport is game strategy, and the ability of "white ball control".
@@whysosalty2185 that's just an impression believe me. Exactly what I think he laid cash down on a judd 9-0 win I just knew he was going to miss when he came to the table, The commentators even said he was not used to have bookmakers laying odds on his matches
Please dont spread or parrot such uneducated bs. Do you really see a difference in difficulty between: a) win 100m against Usain Bolt b) win a marathon against Elliot Kipchoke Also, why did no snooker player ever win Pool WC, when on the other hand a former pool player won snooker wc 4 times?
@@ricklocket2812 Who is this mystery pool player? A 4x world champion too? That’s impressive…not many great snooker players have won the snooker world title even once, but a pool player won it 4 times?
I think it’s more like nascar (pool) v formula 1 (snooker). A good F1 driver probably won’t win nascar, but he’ll do well. A nascar driver would be lapped by most of the grid in an F1 race. F1 is far more technical, has the world’s most talented drivers, and an average driver would just either spin the car or stall it. F1 is the king of automobile sports. Snooker is the king of cue ball games.
The legendary cricketer Donald Bradman became brilliant because he used to practice cricket playing with a stump and a golf ball. Because snooker is played with large tables and small holes it's almost as easy for a snooker player to win a game of pool as it is for a pro golfer to win a crazy golf tournament!
Quite a lot of sportsmen use this technique of practicing with a smaller version of their sport to give them an edge. Eg. Michael Phelps would practice the butterfly in a paddling pool.

Also pool rule means that the less balls you have the harder it is for you if your balls are not in good position, which is a philosophy snooker players are certainly not used to
Agreed, the commentators are prone to exaggeration, but a UK eight ball table is completely alien to nine ball US table with buckets for pockets and a slick cloth. The real test for Judd is when he gets into a tactical battle with the more seasoned pool players and those that are good with a jump Cue. Great start though.

What does that make Jayson Shaw then, considering he white washed Trump? 😂😂
Just goes to show ya snooker and pool are two very different sports
Honestly, snooker is so much more interesting to watch and is a better game overall. The setup and atmosphere is much better as well. I imagine pool is keeping up mainly because of its accessibility.
They are different games completely. This is a video of 9 ball, so keep snooker comparisons out of it as they have no context or reference to this video.
Watching a world snooker champion, as phenomenal as Judd Trump is still making mistakes / missing shots he'd never miss in his nightmares on a snooker table, proves this is a different game.
Yeah particularly the angles, but he adapted extremely quickly
Would take Trump 2-3 year of solid only American pool table practise to be world-class but no doubt he would be. It doesn't take long at all to work out the different cushions. I bet he doesn't even know how to use the dots on the tables for working out the angles or banks etc yet.

@@Bagio1221 and who was this one cause I dont remember a single pool player doing anything of note in snooker
