When I was in high school in Belgium, I started listening to Matthieu Chedid aka -M-. This was one of the first songs of his that I fell in love with. It actually inspired me to start writing songs on bass. Honestly I don't think I would've picked up the bass if it hadn't been for -M-. So thanks for that, Matthieu! And while I'm expressing gratitude, THANK YOU SO MUCH to Cyrille Aimée for lending us her incredible vocals on this tune. Cyrille, tu es absolument merveilleuse!!!
I love -М- , but lost him from radars in early 00s, and now its impossible to find him coz of stupid band name “m”. Thank you for telling his real name =) will re-listen his songs.
Thanks... thans... this is so beautiful, I understood each and every word (being Dutch with just some mid-school French). But if you love the language and love the music... 1+1 equals 2 :-)
ah - i just shared YT link avec ma femme (you’ve met,) as i’m a longtime admirer of Cyrille’s artistry, and i click the Comments to see you’ve recounted the backstory, and used the same adjective to describe her. Naturellement, as you’re a dyed-in-the-wool Francophone (and scholar,) you used correct form, and ended (in typically lame fashion,) with “…eux” Tant pis- in any language, she’s marvelous, and hats off for sharing this gem of a performance, Nat!
I recently purchased your French album for my aunt to help cheer her up. She is 83 years old and studied French at the Sorbonne on a Fulbright scholarship in the 1960s. She recently lost her husband to Covid just before Christmas and your music has helped to cheer her up. Thank you so much and please keep the French music coming.
A stunning performance. A stunning singer! A stunning song. I am overwhelmed. I wonder if Matthieu Chedid is the same singer-songwriter who had a video on TH-cam about 15 years ago where he was outside in the snow singing about the stars, while cartoon stars landed in the snow? The singer looked like Elvis, same hair style; black.

Well done!
In an ever confused and confusing world of globalisation and amalgamation of all things human - would I be even allowed to notice and reflect that this seems quintessentially French, and arguably all the better for it?
I usually depend on music to get a good cry out after something silly has happened and I'm holding it in. This song saved my week guys, thank you so much for the wonderful art you make.
Guys - the French dimension to your music just does it for me. Makes a huge connection to the years that I lived in France as a boy. So satisfying - thanks!
That’s a lovely, relaxing piece. Natalie’s vocals are great but she shows her CEO skill in being able to surrender the lead vocal at times. That mellow clarinet and the muted harmonica add a lot. Brilliant.
Waw, excellent cover, excellent choice of tune, Cyrille Aimée's voice is a lovely discovery, and I love the instrumental arrangement. 10/10! I'm definitely looking forward to more -M- songs, I'm a fan too. And when I hear that dreamy sound, I think Patrick Watson tunes could be an awesome match for you guys as well (Sit down beside me, Je te laisserai des mots, Melodie noir...).
Oh wow that was wonderful! I am a huge fan of Cyrille Aime, and speak very little French. I do believe the blonde is an American singer. Very smooth and relaxing sound! Bravo to all! ❤
OMG !!! So smoothy, sooo beautiful... It's such a great feeling to see, that M is known in the States, such an honnor... You made a great job ! Greetings from France, LOVE U, POMPLAMOOSE !
merci. so beautiful y elegant ante. the words roll out like the scent of a latte. cyrille aimee is a wonderful singer. i own one of her cds. brava brava.

Cyrille's voice gives me chills.
I love the way it sounds like a heart beating all the way through. Especially with that gated soggy bass drum with the low pass filtery sound.
Thanks from Montréal
