- This is great news for the game of hockey. It's great for Kenya and great for growing the game. I am all for making hockey more accessible for future generations. Huge win for Kenya and props to the IIHF for voting in favour.

If Kenyans can translate their natural speed and endurance into ice skating ability, then absorb the STRATEGY of the game, they'd be a huge success in international competition. It will take years of practice, dedication, blood and sweat, but you cannot deny the athletic ability of these folks. Hope they, (indeed ALL the BRICS nations) can get enough money and support to build some rinks and get equipment into the hands of the youth there. TRY it. I think you'll LIKE it.

With the wealth of prospects that San Jose has they will be hyper competitive in the next 2-4 years. Success in the NHL is cyclical in the hard cap era and rebuilding is simply part of the current NHL process.

10 is a bit of a short timeframe but if they keep at it and manage to get their community interested they will get better.
I would love to see Africa in all sports. Sometimes you need a little money and someone to Believe in the future youths dreams and all the hard work that the kids achieve to efforts. One Love Africa!!

It was cool before, but it’s different now that I’m waiting for my little sister to bless me with a mixed nephew. We are hella French Canadian, so he WILL learn about hockey, or I’m a bad uncle. I’m 31, hockey was NOT this “open” when I was a kid.

Great story but let's be honest.. what's the point? They going to get ice time down there? Can kids afford ice time let alone equipment? Does their government care? It is a feel good story but don't kid yourself into thinking this is " growing the sport".
Meanwhile, most little kids parents can’t afford to pay for the children to play organized hockey in Canada.
And theyll lose every game 10-0
