Just wanted to clarify something here, when I say "Meet Charlie the goalie bringing Kenya to the Olympics" in the beginning, I am referencing the Kenya Ice Lions goal to one day play in the Olympics! The IIHF decision to make Kenya an official member doesn't mean will see them in the Olympics right now but it's a step forward to that goal. Hope that helps and apologies for any confusion!

I've been loving seeing hockey grow in Kenya. Great job Ice Lions and Charlie! I found it interesting that this is also co-ed. There's a woman on the team. I'm curious how many women are playing in Kenya, as it would be great to see both men and women's hockey grow and play internationally.
Pretty good for a guy who has been playing for 2 months, probably without a whole lot of time on the ice. He would benefit from a dry-land skate training pad so he can practice his side to side without ice.
Becoming a part of the iihf is a huge thing for kenya. Do you know if there will be plans as the sport keeps developing to possibly build any more rinks/traning facilities in kenya? Having that 1 tiny little rink in a hotel and having to travel to other countries just to play in a normal size rink certainly adds challenges to growing the game.
I'm not 100% on what the plans are for a new rink but the sales of their jerseys: friendshipleague.org/product/kenya-ice-lions-shabiki-2021-home-jersey/ help fund stuff like operational cost for their team to play in the IIHF!
