I love the last 2 doors. Those tiny mechanical horns emit such a unique sound.

One time I accidentally opened the emergency door at McDonald’s, and it was so loud, and the workers had to reset it with a key

I actually once opened an emergency exit at Blockbuster’s in Minneapolis, Minnesota once. Since I was young, I thought it was just an ordinary door.

I once opened an emergency exit at a drugstore at age 6. Since I couldn’t read yet, I thought it was just a regular door. I was horrified when the alarm went off. It sounded just like the third alarm in this video. My ears were very sensitive to the loud noise due to my autism. Never made that mistake again by opening an emergency door.

Shouldn’t these set the fire alarm system off? Or is that only for some of them.

These will not set off the fire alarm system, however, they can be wired to give the panel indication.
System Fire 2.0 Door alarms that are tied to a fire alarm system will sound when there is an alarm in the building. Those Detex alarms are designed to go off by themselves.
Fire Alert It did happen to me when I pushed one as a little kid. They had an shg horn in it. The outside GMS also went off.

is it really not to code if the alarm doesn't sound? i would expect that it's fine as long as the door opens since i think the alarms are to prevent theft
Nathan Adam it’s also used so others can find a useable exit
it is, the door alarms are supposed to sound off if they're meant to be used as an emergency exit so the in-store staff know which door has been tampered with and/or exited through... therefore they can review the footage to see what happened prior to it sounding off.
Actually I think the alarm is supposed to be turned on for emergency exits or fire exits to prevent non emergency use
The alarm is to discourage misuse, to prevent shoplifting and to lead the people trying to escape in a fire to the exit.
@@aidenlui2056 I’m still not convinced it’s a code issue though. It makes sense that a shopkeeper wants to prevent misuse etc, but that isn’t something that needs to be required by code. Rather, it’s something that the shopkeeper can choose to use. And I think the fact that it guides others to an exit is just a side effect, else they would be installed on all emergency exits.

Well leaving the door alarms disarmed is not up to code and could allow customers to escape paying for merchandise.(if these were in a supermarket)
Also emergency exit alarms are there to alert guide evacuees to the nearest exit in case of visual impairment or dense smoke not just deter shoplifters, dine and dashers, or snipe and sprinters.
Is there a point to exit alarms besides asset protection?
