    The detectors with the larger bases are sounder bases while the smaller ones are just regular standard bases for the detector. Some of them with the light are known as beacon bases while others just has the sounder part. These particular detectors are also not made by Hochiki but are made by Protec which is fairly common to see here but other brands like Apollo are alot more common to find here. Another thing aswell there is also another brand here I know of that has the sounders and beacons built in to the detectors like the Gent Vigilion S-Squad range of detectors including EMS as I know they have built in beacons with some of their wireless detectors. Also I believe FP cabling doesn't need to be inside conduit hence why in alot of cases you will just see the exposed cableing running across the wall of celling. Hope you found this useful :)

    Those detectors with the larger bases are called sounder bases, and the brand of all the devices is Protec, and we use FP cable so it is suitable to have it exposed

    It’s a protec system

    Epic video. The break tube was on an old system where you would break the tube with a hammer to exit we also had them in Ireland a while ago.

    This hotel has a *Protec* fire alarm system. I live in the UK & they also use call points in other public buildings

    US fire alarm cable actually can be fully exposed as well as long as the cable is fire resistant and it’s mounted over 7 feet high

      Right and it frequently is in a lot of large faculties but it definitely isn’t able to just be run exposed to pull stations and other things the way FP cable is

    Very standard European system. Usally, the alerting devices can vary. Some are sounders, sounder strobes, strobes, speaker sounders and smoke detector sounder bases. The reason why the smoke detectors were much larger was because of the base it was fitted onto. It's a sounder base. The smoke detectors used here are Protec 3000/OP smokes with their sounder base being a Protec 3000/SBEA Sounder Beacon Detector Base. The call points look to be similar to the old KAC style ones, but im not entirely sure what brand they are. In fact, im not sure if ive said this yet, but NZ is quite similar, if not, almost the exact same as the UK or Europe. We use sounders & sounder bases, we use those little call point signs, we use very similar call points (including our own) and we even use some of the same brands used in the UK or Europe! This system might be a Protec one as the smokes and maybe the call points too are by Protec.

    Looks like the extinguishers were in the cupboard with a capped off valve where a hose reel once was...they're not really used much now

    fp200 cable is specifically rated for fire alarms. why there's no issue with it being exposed. older installs will have MI cable ... youll have fun looking in to that if youre a bit of a geek for this stuff. generally UK regs do not require any conduit at all anywhere unless its for impact protection. so like car parks or industrial locations.

    @spykillergames8402 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes those are sounder bases....tone wise that will sound similar to a low-frequency sounder/strobe (like the system sensor ones youd be familiar with) but over here the sound is a slow woop (imagine a siren sound (like a cop car))

    fun fact on UK fire alarms...aside from sounders or sounder bases the other most common is bells..usually on the older conventional panels (since warning devices (UK term for a NAC) sit on either a sounder circuit (for conventional panels) or the address loop (on modern addressable systems...so yes our NACS have addresses)

    Protec is the company that makes the fire alarm system you are currently seeing the detector are the Protec 3000 series which is addressable which has now been replaced by 6000 Plus series which offer many more features

    These bases are sounder bases! The sounder base doesn’t have a strobe fitted. The system is Protec. Those tubes are the break glass to open door idea. Cool video!

    4:14 im guessing at some point that door may have had some sort of seal on it that breaks when the door is opened

    The one superior thing about Exit signs here in the UK is that they’re made and placed a lot better than American signs, which judging by the footage I’ve seen of them are made apparently of plastic, whereas our signs are typically made of metal, which is a more durable material. Any plastic signs we have are typically relegated to ones like what you saw in the emergency stairwell (Some are even photo-luminescent and look really cool with the lights dimmed.)
    Another issue with US signs seems to be more of a problem with the rowdy public rather than their placement. There’s a pretty infamous video where a guy damages multiple exit signs in a high-school corridor, even pulling one of them right off the electrical wires it was loosely hanging on to. This isn’t an isolated issue, either. There are multiple videos of exit signs being assaulted in a similar manner, not to mention the ‘devious lick’ trend from eons ago. British exit signs, particularly the light boxes, are mostly wall mounted with ceiling mounted ones mostly being confined to the ones you saw in the hotel corridor, where their power supply is embedded into the ceiling and the glass panel out of arms’ reach (though there are exit signs that are hung from chains mounted to the ceiling, these are typically mounted quite high up with a couple exceptions.)

    Nice, I believe this is an Apollo or Hochiki system and I also believe that the fire sign explimation is also exclusive to the UK

    Why the fire doors close at night? And also the ext signs turn off?
    To prevent entry?

    • @FireAlarmDude5967
      @FireAlarmDude5967  ปีที่แล้ว

      They close because at night people don’t need to pass through them as much so it’s safer to keep them closed. Also, it saves electricity and prevents the doors getting stuck in the open position.

    UK fire alarm cable is rated against fire to last up to 30 minutes, 60 minutes or 120 minutes. Cutting to the UK regulation BS 5839-1

      Only in the colder months - the sun does make more frequent appearances come summer time and the clouds, while appearing in summer are mostly restricted to winter and spring.
