Hey Michael, have they removed the background color option in the filter recently? I have it installed and am playing around with the settings, but I cannot see any way to select for background color.
I commented a bit ago about something, and I wanted to appreciate you taking my comment with a grain of salt. Someone said something negative below my comment, and I understand the viewer's observation on the subject I brought up. Me being at the age of 39, the younger generation doesn't fully understand how fast things will change. That statement should help you narrow down what I'm talking about. I didn't mean to come off rude. I think the guy who commented under my comment may or may not understand. I'm not sure. I greatly appreciate your videos and thank you for helping others learn how to stream through various streaming programs.
For anyone interested, the NVidia library only works with RTX, it won't work with GTX... I still use an old 1070 Ti, because it speeds up rendering video and I don't do games, but now there's a reason to upgrade to a higher quality card (maybe).
You must be some kind of mind-reader... I was literally just wondering if I should stick to full-on green-screen or if there were alternatives to this. I had tried the OBS one yesterday (the first demonstrated in your video) and it was awful. Even when setting it to GPU, the CPU usage is still sky-high, and my rig is no slouch (5950x, 3080, 64gb RAM, etc) so, be advised all who read this, just don't use that one. It still has open tickets regarding performance issues as it appears to be poor optimization. As I was just about to install and try the other ones, I happened upon your video! Perfect timing I watch all your videos and wanted to thank you for putting in the work and dealing with OBS crashes so we don't have to! Going to try the Alpha Invidia one right now because it looks the most promising, although Nvidia Broadcaster alone artifacts quite a bit and overall is decent if you're in a pinch. Let it be known, there so far has been nothing that tops a real green screen. Thanks again!
The OBS Plugin isn't working for me. I pasted the 2 folders in the right place like you showed. However, when I go to obs and click on filter for my webcam and the plus sign there is no option for background removal.
Hi Michael, Thanks a lot for sharing this! I have a few content creator friends, and they are always looking for ideas to create better content for their channel. I think they are trying to use the green screen, but are not sure how to use it correctly. I am sure this video will be a great share. I gained a lot of helpful info from this, and I will definitely share this with my friends to help them with it as well.
I use DroidCam OBS plugin to use an old smartphone as a Webcam. I find that Nvidia Broadcast software works great but the "Virtual Greenscreen" filter within OBS does not work well at all. The downside of using Nvidia Broadcast w/ DroidCam though is that it requires 2 OBS Instances [OBS 1 w/ DroidCam] -> OBS Virtual Camera - > Nvidia Broadcast w/ Virtual Cam selected -> [OBS 2 w/ Nvidia Broadcast Video Source]
So....does this cause any lag in your stream? I'm rockin' Ryz 9 5900x / 3070. SLOBS + snapcam or any cam software lagged my streams up. Just now switched to OBS & using my cam causes occasional lag (DAMN U NIVIDIA & YOUR 8GB RAM), but it's mostly good. Would love for yall to share feedback of your experience.
In my MacBook Air M2 💻 OBS beta 28 when I select window capture or Display capture the screen audio is not capturing and I tried selecting in Advances Audio settings and then Display1 Display2 is Showing only one option that is Disabled anf for Mic/Auxiliary1 & Mic/Auxiliary2 it’s capturing audio. Now what to do to capture Display audio along with the microphone 🎙 audio. Please give us a solution to this. Big Thanks in Advance.
Thanks so much, I was able to put myself in my Golf Simulator in OBS and it worked great with your guidance. I got it working tonight and the hit a hole in one on the live stream. Wow It was a challenge to get such a big area to work and the distance from the camera. It is not perfect yet, but with more adjustments it will only get better. Thanks so much for all the great info. If you get a minute, please check it out and give any advice you can please. Thanks
Hi, I have a problem. I click the "background removel", and it is black and I cannot see my face. Unless I remove it, I can see my face. Pls help, thanks.
I installed StreamFX and the Nvidia RTX video effects file, but the virtual green screen was not listed under OBS filters. Turns out my PC was built in 2016 with an Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card. So, guess that's why it wouldn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Can anyone assist me, I downloaded the OBS plug in for background remover, and I cannot find that in the filter settings. Followed all the steps, tried 2-3 times to install plug in, its not there. Beside OBS background removal plug in, is there anything else I need.
I go for Virtual ... you can have any good looking office you want and change it anyway or anytime you want. Nothing can beat a real green screen. Forget about software based green screen, they all suck - even the so called powerful nvidia cards still have artifacts flying around your scene
Unfortunately, StreamFX didn't work for me... the NVIDIA SDK gave me a filter named NVIDIA Background Removal instead of the Virtual Greenscreen, and it removes the entire video. Totally useless.
okay but the problem is there's no way to change background color. Robust works best for me but still no green screen. Is there a new way to do this? Please help sir.
Maybe you figured this out already but... in a Scene, have your camera at the top Add an Effect Filter called "Chroma Key" Set Key Color Type to "Green" then Add "Background removal" Effect Filter, the one he talks about here then, you can add the "Chroma Background" source, and choose the image you want. He's right, it's not as good as a real greenscreen, but it's a lot of work learning how to set those up.
You asked what you may be doing wrong. Well, I would wait until the middle or end of the video to ask people to subscribed or click like button. This way you have engaged them. Starting the video off with a request doesn't usually work.
You talk way to fast. this is not working on windows 11 it seems. Maybe you need to update your content on green screen. All I have learned is OBS sucks!!!
This mustn't be a video for new users because you go way to fast and none of the options to add background remover worked at all no matter where I paste it.
The Plugin AINT working for me. I pasted the 2 folders in the right place like you showed. However, when I go to obs and click on filter for my webcam and the plus sign there is no option for background removal.

You might need a web socket
@Michael Feyrer Jr. *****Question***** Do actual green screens stop the flickering from the edges or at least better than background replacement

Can anyone assist me, I downloaded the OBS plug in for background remover, and I cannot find that in the filter settings. Followed all the steps, tried 2-3 times to install plug in, its not there. Beside OBS background removal plug in, is there anything else I need.

Maybe you figured this out already but...
in a Scene, have your camera at the top
Add an Effect Filter called "Chroma Key"
Set Key Color Type to "Green"
then Add "Background removal" Effect Filter, the one he talks about here
then, you can add the "Chroma Background" source, and choose the image you want.
He's right, it's not as good as a real greenscreen, but it's a lot of work learning how to set those up.
