He's one of the musicians I actually shed a tear for when he died, along with Michael Jackson, Prince, and Tom Petty. He just put it all out there and he just spoke to me. I remember when Jim died, Meat was just heart-broken. Now they're together again making more music. FYI, he used to watch some of these reactions and interact in the comments. RIP Meat ❤

I second this, watch 2 outta 3 ain't bad. It's probably my favourite Meatloaf song.
Not only did he have an amazing voice, he was an actor, a true performer and an entertainer. His videos weren't just your typical 80’s music video’s, they were works of art in their own right. God rest his soul. He will be missed.
Meatloaf was multi-talented! When he passed away about a year ago, we lost a living legend. You'll need to see his stage performances on TH-cam. He was a total showman who interacted with the audience.

That is one of a very few songs where I think the musical cast recording works better. Each verse is sung by a different person, so they can really lean into the different vibes.

Jim Steinman came up with the songs and created the stories. Meat Loaf was the face and voice of the stories that Jim Steinman wanted to tell. Todd Rundgren brought the whole thing to life, usually with Jim Steinman telling him how he wanted it to look and sound. The sound of a motorcycle revving in "Bat Out of Hell" was actually Todd Rundgren on guitar. The tempo changes could have been from Jim Steinman as song writer or could have been from Todd Rundgren as producer. When Jim Steinman died, Meat Loaf said, "We didn't know each other. We were each other."
Jim and Meat are a perfect example of how your soul mate doesn't need to be your romantic partner. When Jim died I said to my husband, "I'm worried that MeatLoaf won't last long without him" .
Meatloaf was a very talented and multifaceted performer. He was always very animated and hence the theatrical nature of both his videos, and his live performances. Add to that his acting credits and top it all off with that magnificent voice. He was undeniably a “give it his all” entertainer.

A brilliant actor, many films under his belt, TV roles too.. was Eddie in Rocky Horror show.. not watched fight club...one of his last TV appearances was in an Episode of Ghost Hunters.. he was very very interested in that field too. Meat Loaf was a perfectionist and would not give up until he was 100% satisfied.... So looking forwards to your reactions to his music and learning more about him and his life.. just a 40+ years worth of work..

Ah, glad you're back, already! This was the song that introduced me to Meat Loaf when I was 6 in 1993. I thought it was the most incredibly beautiful thing I'd ever heard: the piano, the lyrics, that Voice! Thank you for not comparing him to anyone else; to me, it's such a unique, raw, otherworldly voice and nothing else has given me that same thrill, joy and wonder since.
As to your questions about the visual creativity, with the Paradise video, I think it was a collaborative idea between Meat and Jim, with them both coming from a musical stage background.
The two men are so different in personality and upbringing, but when they got together to make music, it's magic. Meat called Jim his "brother", as Meat didn't really have any close immediate family when he ran away from home at 18 after his mother died. They had their differences and disagreements, but they kept coming back and working together, and they were in regular contact in the few years before Jim died in April 2021.
Next recommendation for Meat Loaf + Jim Steinman has to be "Bat Out of Hell". So many tempo changes you'll need a seatbelt! ;)

He's truly an artist and such an amazing emotional performer. The first time I took real notice of him was when I watched a live performance on tv of him performing this song. I remember being pulled to get up and sit right in front of the tv. I had goosebumps, a lump in my throat, and thought "My GAWD ...WOW! THIS GUY!! I GET IT!" He's absolutely the real deal!!!!" Yeah, felt his heart and his layers of talent were undeniable. I recommend looking up any of the live performances of this song. I just did and it still hit me the same way. Goosebumps, teared up, and full-on lump in my throat.
I find true joy in watching your facial expressions when listening to meatloaf these first few times. As the anniversary of his death approaches to see you enjoy and appreciate his wonderful voice and videos brings me happiness.

Meatloaf and Jim Steinman were fans of tradition opera, which in composed in a "movement to movement" style, as opposed to "verse - chorus - verse" style. They performed with real texture and complexity in all of their compositions. ✌️🕊️

Jim Steinman has written for many other performers, probably most famously "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Holding out for a Hero"for Bonnie Tyler (who you said you didn't know when it was suggested she was considered for the song), "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" for Celine Dion and "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" for Air supply. He also co-wrote "No Matter What" for Boyzone with Andrew Lloyd Webber.
As far as Jim and Meat are concerned, they met when Meat auditioned for a musical (yea there is a reason these sound like musical numbers) he wrote called "More Than You Deserve." (the Title song, Meat has also performed). Jim felt that Meat was a great fit, and had real portential. Jim was also writing a musical based on Peter Pan, but it never got approval from the Author's estate. Bat Out of Hell was basically a concept album that was put together based on some of the stuff Jim had written. Eventually there was a Bat Out of Hell Musical which featured songs from all 3 "Bat Out of Hell" albums, as well as the Dead Ringers Album as well as songs that were recorded by other people.

Meatloaf is a legend! His Bat out of Hell album is the best. Honestly any of his songs you could react to “You took the words right out of my mouth”, “Read em and weep” “Bat out of hell” “Two out of three ain’t bad” all amazing! My mom told me once that the Red Scarf he carries with him was given to him by is wife (1st wife) I think as a good luck thing and he always carried scarfs since then it became a signature thing, but I don’t know how true that is since I wasn’t born till 89” lol but I was lucky enough to have parents that played all genres and time period music from Motown to Rock, Country, R&B, Pop, Rap, Classical, you name it it was played in the house. So I find it very entertaining to watch someone react to music they’ve never heard. And I love your reactions cause you give an opinion but also do research about it and the artists.

Jim Steinman wrote albums of sequential story songs. When Meatloaf was too busy with work, and Jim had a new album done, needing it recorded, to get paid, though he wasn't too keen on being the singer, he did that one himself.

My interpretation of his character in this video was at least loosely based on the phantom from Phantom of the Opera. If not aware, Phantom of the Opera was a hugely successful Broadway musical. Meatloaf loved acting too. Just to name a couple: 1) He was in the Brad Pitt movie Fight Club with an odd character. 2) He had a role in the cult classic movie Rocky Horrow Picture Show.
Puts on an amazing stage show,was lucky enough to see him preform here in Belfast Northern Ireland.Still have his cassette tape from way back in 80s.Think the UK and Ireland could relate more with his music over the USA,as his style and Jim's Lyrics could mybe be misconstrued by some.

This is ABSOLUTELY ONE OF MY TOP FAVORITE SONGS EVER AND I use to be an extremely good pianist but had a life threatening and icu vent etc car accident 8/8/2009 MOST of my memories returned and weren’t suppose to. The brain is an unbelievable organ. BUT I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT EVEN PLAY CHOP STICKS (hurts a lot) so NEVER TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED BECAUSE IN A BLINK OF AN EYE IT CAN CHANGE, but since I gained even in the last year back some memories that well that part of my brain was like a stroke and said it was still dead. I am surprised that you have never heard of Bonnie Tyler. Her Total Eclipse of the Heart was number one in both USA and England (written by Jim Steinman also), that is a fun little music video also, you should check it out.

You haven't seen "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"!?!? You should do a reaction video on that. I was a teen when I first saw it (I'm now in my 60s) and I still remember it as a truly mind expanding film. A lot of people feel the same way, which is why it's a cult classic with midnight screenings at various theatres to this day.
