Metal had a musical theatre background and he “acted” every song out. He also enunciated every word carefully because, as you say, it was a story he was telling.
Meat was destined to be a star his first audition for Aquarius resulted from a gig he had parking cars for the show That in turn led to The Rocky Horror Picture Show film and play.
The piano player wrote and composed this song for Meatloaf. He sure could sing. ❤. Have you heard I’d Do Anything For Love, But I Want Do That. He also did a lot of acting
The 2 Meatloaf songs you guys did were both stories, and Meatloaf can tell a story! He also has such a powerful voice and that's why he can pull it off. RIP Meatloaf.
His number in The Rocky Horror Picture Show , “ Hot Patootie Bless My Soul” is his rabble rousing debut in the public eye. I love Olly’s advice to the lovelorn! 😂
I feel as if a part of my youth died with the passing of this wonderful entertainer and genuine human being. Marvin Lee Aday (Michael) AKA Meatloaf your musical performances will live on! Thanks for the decades of memories.
I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) should be next, in my opinion. My mom liked Two Out Of Three, I think about her every time I hear this song.
Jim Steinman was a brilliant song writer, sometimes sarcastic, but always emotional. He wrote many famous songs for alot deal of artist. This album is one of the best selling albums of all time. The title track is an amazing song!
I Would Do Anything For Love is amazing. His voice won him a Grammy for that song. Also, the song Bat Out of Hell is a masterpiece. And Paradise By the Dashboard Light is genius and simply perfect. Highly recommend all 3. Make sure it’s the official videos for all of them, especially Anything For Love (the video for that is basically a mini movie).
"Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" was one of the slow songs they would play at the after school dances when I was in middle school. The entire Bat Out of Hell album is great. Todd Rundgren produced it. The song "Bat Out of Hell" is another epic, so check it out too. But you might find more depth to dig in Todd Rundgren's catalog. Check out "I Saw the Light" and "Bang the Drum All Day" for starters. And another power ballad from back then that holds up well is "Lights" by Journey. That song features the guitar solo that defined power ballad guitar solos for a decade.
The guy playing the keyboard was Jim Steinman, he wrote all the songs on this album, he also wrote total eclipse of the hart, making love out of nothing at all and I need a hero, plus countless others.
Heaven Can Wait is another beautiful ballad on this album and gotta do the title track. As with most albums in our era, meant to be listened to in it's entirety, it's a story.
The whole Bat Out of Hell album is amazing. One of the best-selling albums of all-time. Recommend For Crying Out Loud to react to next. It builds slowly and then explodes. Powerful.
I hope you'll react to the whole "Bat out of hell" album. It's a masterpiece. Every single song a unique gem. Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman were just the perfect musical combination of singer/performer and composer. Btw. the man playing the piano is Jim Steinman.
that's Jim Steinman on the piano, he wrote all the songs for the group, check out 'I'm Gonna Love Her for Both of Us' was off a later album Dead Ringer
nobody will EVER again make music like this !! ... and they STILL play this on the radio !! ...much better than the autotune-pushbutton-crap that gets played today (and forgotten tomorrow)
One interpretation of this song that I really agree with is that the girl he is talking to is the same girl that broke his heart in the past. "There is not a past love and a current girl in this. It's the same girl. She has changed her mind about him, but her inability to love him in the past has ruined it for him, so now even though she has changed her mind, the girl he once loved is gone as far as he is concerned."
I agree that they should definitely do this one ...either next, or after "I'd do anything for love". But Bat outta hell would show them a faster paced, darker version of Meatloaf.
Meatloaf was a performer who reached near Mercury levels of connection with the audience. Love watching you guys experience the music I grew up with. Keep it up guys. Much love ❤️
Everyone had or still has this album in their collections it was that big. Bat Out Of Hell was a hell of an album I still play it on the old turn table when the mood strikes I have my original copy that I bought in 1980 as a 13 year old I also have CD copy but I like the vinyl copy better.
Love this song. Yeah this is a concert. In those days nobody actually made 'video's' per se'. The recorded performances. Until MTV there was nowhere to play videos, therefore no videos were made. ! And totally, off the wall, but check out Jack Black & Jimmy Fallon singing 'More than words'. They made me laugh, even as they sang the song beautifully. It's great. You should check them out too. For another Meatloaf, check out 'I would do anything for love (but I won't do that0'.
Far as I'm concerned one of the greatest compositions ever written. Hit home instantly. Not a word wasted and greatest "hook line " ever. I was never able to hear this song without singing EVERY word. And that means a great song.
Far and away my favorite Meatloaf song. My favorite vocals of his, and favorite lyrics. Meatloaf had his start in theater which is why he delivers with such vocal and physical drama.
Jim Steinman (piano) wrote all of the songs on this album. Unfortunately, we lost both of them within a few of months of each other.😭😭😇😇 I still have this album on vinyl. "I know you're lookin' for a ruby in a mountain of rocks, but there ain't no coupe deVille hiding at the bottom of a crackerjack box".
He has such a beautiful voice.. he became such a spiritual man. And a family man. Whach him on Ghost Busters. Rip beautiful man with many deamons in his younger days. Got over all of them. He is my inspiration
I loved this album, but I'm in shock that you have done 2 tracks but not the title track Bat Outa Hell😮 you MUST do that next it's 🔥❤ the reaction word game, you say Meatloaf, it's Bat Outa Hell from most people who may not even be fans
Enjoyed your reaction! ML and Steinman drive emotions like no other. Bat Out of Hell official video a must as others have said. Also suggested was Life is a Lemon…deliciously dystopian! Suggest 1993 Orlando video. For another twisted song suggest I’m Gonna Love Her for Both of Us. Seldom reacted to and ML explodes. Official videos a must for full ML treatment.
@thisisitreactions Jim Steinman also wrote “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” for Bonnie Tyler, which was a massive hit that you’ve probably heard. Listen to it again now, knowing that he wrote it, and you’ll hear the similarities with his songs he wrote for Meatloaf. He was a brilliant songwriter.
some people used to shoot video for various uses, even before mtv in 81. this video was shot as a live concert synced to the record, so they would have a music video for any outlet. everyone is singing and playing but you are hearing the album version of the audio. nice review. meatloaf has one more crusher of a song -- the title track -- bat out of hell.
Such a beautifully sad song. The late Jim Steinman wrote this song for Meatloaf and wrote a lot of other songs for him, like 'Bat Out of Hell'. Steinman wrote a LOT of popular songs like 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' and many more. Both men were legends.
By the way the girl was one of the same person, she broke his heart years before but came back to rekindle their love but he couldn't take her back because she broke him
Jim Steinman was playing piano behind him in this video. I saw him twice in concert and he was fantastic. You want another song to react to try "rock and roll dreams come through".
Gotta love the Meat Loaf reactions! As a hardcore Meat fan, I'd say do "Bat out of Hell" next, but if you want something more recent, then do "I'd Do Anything for Love". I say more "recent" when that song is now 30 years old. He also won his lone Grammy for "I'd Do Anything for Love". Can't go wrong either way!
All 3 of you got what "2 out of 3" is before he said it! Good next choices are More Than You Deserve, Dead Ringer for Love, All Revved Up, Out of the Frying Pan, Peel Out, I'll Kill You if you Don't Come Back, Read 'Em and Weep, Left in the Dark, Los Angeloser, and of course the crown jewel of Meat Loaf music, Bat Out of Hell. Yeah, it's a lot, but they are all great songs.
❤ Jim Steinman a brilliant songwriter and Meatloaf a brilliant opera trained singer with a flare for the dramatic, made a legendary pair! (Like Elton John and Bernie Taupin) And yes, this is from the same concert, The Bat Out of Hell tour/album. It was a concept album and the songs tell a story. So, the theme was 'prom night' , that's why he's wearing a tux shirt. 😅 ❤❤
Meatloaf had such a gorgeous voice and Jim Steinman wrote beautiful songs for him. Honestly though, what woman could stay with a man who would never love her?
I think that most of you guys would like Meatloaf’s song Objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are. And yes that is the name of the song. And if and when y’all react to it y’all should really watch the official video.
I love ollie reaction when he understood what the song was about.eatloaf was an OG gangsta. I could jever love you...but at least i want u and newd you. This alb was Huuuuuge from like 77 and on. Me and my siblings know this album be heart pretty much. Our mom and dad. Aying this on may dads system was beyond fire. Lit system feom early 70s would shake shit off rhe walls. .
Meatloaf's character for the song was damaged by that first woman, she took some important part of his ability to love when she walked out of his life, telling him that she wanted him and needed him, but there was no way she'd ever love him. When she walked out, she left him the same condition, where he could want somebody and need them, but recognize that he never return their love.
You guys gotta do a movie reaction to "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" it's a cult classic, the movie would play every Saturday night at midnight at a theater near me during High School, we always went, you brought props, when it rained you shot your squirt gun, when they said "I'd like to make a toast" we threw pieces of toast, when they got married we threw rice, when he kills a guy with a pick-axe, everyone yelled "That's no way to pick your friends"
Like Frank Sinatra, the ENUNCIATION of every lyric was the key to Meatloaf's success. The fact that Springsteen and Pearl Jam overcame the enunciation issue is miraculous.

Meatloaf is legendary. EVERY track on this album is gold. "Bat out of Hell" is a great track.
Metal had a musical theatre background and he “acted” every song out. He also enunciated every word carefully because, as you say, it was a story he was telling.
Only Jim Steinman could get away with writing a line like "But there ain't no Coup de Ville hiding at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box"
I always loved that lyric. Sad young people need to look up what it is lol

Meatloaf and Jim Steinman were one of the best partnerships in music history. It was very much storytelling at it’s finest, Rock opera at its best.
Jim Steinman was playing piano in this song. I suggest Bat Out Of Hell for a banger! Jim Steinman wrote every song for Meat Loaf.
The 2 Meatloaf songs you guys did were both stories, and Meatloaf can tell a story! He also has such a powerful voice and that's why he can pull it off. RIP Meatloaf.

Uh, no. That song is cheesy as hell, why do people keep asking for it? For Cryin Out Loud is the one to hit.
You'd be surprised, I think, to know how many people had their heart broken at some point in time and have never really recovered from it.
What a awesome artist Meatloaf was.
R.I.P Meatloaf.. your music lives on in my household....❤
