The battery was original and the car has done just over 80k miles and is 9 years old. So the battery had done well. It was around £120 from Halfords. They were trying to scare me in to getting them to replace it. It’s probably best to check you manual to make sure there isn’t any warning regarding disconnecting the battery although I have yet to here about anyone having problems.
Some workshops but a device in the cigarette lighter socket that keeps a charge going and one guy on TH-cam left the car running. No idea if that is wise.
I think checking the manual is a good check. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
My car Also had a clicking sound as well on start up., Flat battery . Carried out the above task worked a treat. Thanks a lot.
Cheers Gary, glad the video helped.
My battery is arrived. I will change it tomorrow with the help of your video.
Nice one 👍 🔋
I have diesel and hopefully will not face any surprises due to size. 🙂
Good luck.
Efb stands for enhanced flooded battery which is mainly meant for stop start vehicles
Thanks
Bloody hell mate your steering wheels on the wrong side. lol Thanks for the help
Nightmare quality control at Ford!
Just had to change my Focus battery for a new one. Glad I watched your video to save time (and prevent causing other possible issues) when removing the other bits. Did you reset the BMS too?
Hi, thanks for the feedback. No I didn’t both resetting the BMS. All has been well since.
Cheers, mines just died, need to replace
Thanks for watching.
Aren't you supposed to take the two little red caps for the breathing holes out either side of the battery before you put it in?
That's a good point, I did see it but decided to leave it in. I just had a look on a few forums and typical, there are people saying both leave it in and others saying take it out. Did your original have it plugged? I'll watch the video again and see if I can tell. I the past I have never vented a battery.
I understand that one needs to be out not both sides.
Bet you're glad that battery cover was there imagine how bad it would have been without it. Looks like it's been on the car since factory rolled it out 10 years ago.. I'm taking out the same battery your installing. On the same spec focus. DID I buy your nightmare. My plate reg isD*3 O*J P
Wasn’t that bad was it? A bit of a flaff for sure :-)
Dont forget to reset BMS when you fit a new battery
Wasn't an issue for me, but for people who's start-stop stops working I believe the manual reset is as follows…
Ignition on,
Sidelights on,
Press rear fog light button 5 times (the bottom one of the two),
Press hazard button 3 times,
Give it a few seconds and the battery light on the instrument cluster should blink a few times.
You can disconnect the earth from the wing bolt
Cheers, I should have done.
Is it possible to dislodge something during this which causes a coolant leak?
The tube to the left that runs parallel to the battery may contain coolant, not sure does that look secure? Seems unlikely though.
Mine had a service, then new battery fitted. After which I’m finding coolant puddles, losing lots. Back to the dealer we go, as they serviced the day before.
have you noticed that you have to dismantle the headlight to change a bulb?
It’s not too bad, similar to the mk3… Replace Headlight Bulb Mk2 Ford Focus H7 H1

You need to remove the airbox to make it easier.
That is an option but it is also a bit of a flaff. Either way is good.
new battery i put in but still error message my battery need service..How to reset BMS without scan tool??? anyone?...
Is your alternator ok?
This video shows you how to check. Replace Alternator Ford Focus Mk2 2007 Without Removing Stretch Fit Belt
th-cam.com/video/3bf6Ix5saBI/w-d-xo.html
battery&alternator fine..engine on 14.7v..new battery holding 12.9v..no battery light error...only message "low battery system after leaving lights on for 30 secs ignition on-engine off..
Could just need the alert resetting then, sorry I don’t know how without the scanner
Mine didn't come out like that. Even removed the whole plastic sill as this was my first hunch how it's supposed to come out. But nope, mine was literally from wall to wall so no matter how much I wiggled it didn't come out. So I had to open up the trusty ol google to find out that you're supposed to remove the air box and then the front comes out... All my cars before this one only required the strap to be removed, not half the darn car. Older cars didn't even require that...
Sorry to hear that! It seems ridiculous process to have to remove the air box to get the battery out doesn't it.
It's two screws to remove the air box and give you a ton of space to pull it forward.
@@Thomas-bm2mi So? Doesn't change the fact that you're supposed to remove more than you should for a battery of all things, which is never a good thing for removing anything.
Efb..enhanced flooded battery..
Thanks

For all the time it took to remove the battery the way you did it ,you could have taken the air filter box out.
I'll try that next time, it looks like flaff though. If I get another Focus.
