Amazingly detailed video, just as I needed (especially thankful for your testing of the recharged battery so I know that car can start even with the 13.46v and 197A), thank you sir.
Great video. I've just inherited one of these and struggled to get the battery out. Now I know why, I didn't know about removing the airfilter, apparently neither did my father as he had fitted an 063 battery not an 075... 😮😅
Thank you. You may like the whole series on this one as it gave me a few issues to say the least. th-cam.com/video/wj392vreXbI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rddGqCvDMI_D8ZNf
Hi there, thanks for your vid. Yesterday I replaced the battery of my Ford Focus 2009 and everything went right, no problem. When I got in this morning and I switched they key to second position, the screen shows engine failure, however it starts perfectly. Any clue or advice?.
They do start fairly easily even with a pretty flat battery I have found. Is there a light on that's draining the battery overnight? maybe the boot one.
this looks like the same setupas my ford cmax..can i ask for a bit of advise..looks like your master cylinder is under the scutlle panel like mine...do you actually need to remove the scuttle panel to access it?.if so what a crazy idea from ford
I had problem with ford c max mk1 with baterry draining. In few hours car drain battery completly. I recharge it, and drive for couple of mounts. New battery by the way. Did you have or heard of problem like that? Ghia is package of equipment with electric parking brake and parking sensors.
If you are looking at putting this back on the road mark may I suggest cleaning the earth cable as mine cut out on me coming home one night really threw me as to what it was had to get rac out who diagnosed that as the problem he cleaned the connection and where it connects to the body and replaced the bolt had no issues whatsoever after that. Look forward to the next part
@Coats and Gaiters yes it is just needs cleaning with a bit of emery cloth. I had to change the alternator and and the ignition barrel while I owned mine you can charge the alternator without having to take the drive belt fully off also
It can be done without removing the air filter box, search for a youtube short "2012 ford focus battery replacement. space to remove the battery". I tried it on my 2005 Focus, and it works.
Hi Lucas, the plan for this is to have it as a spare car to buy me time to make video's when needing to repair other cars. A family member needs me to look at their Mini and the EGR valve/DPF but the time it takes to make a video I need the car longer than they can be without a car but if this Focus works out I can hopefully say "there's a car you can use you just need to tax and insure it for a month".
Morning Mark Informative & interesting as always. I'm looking forward to this mini series on this Focus, should keep you busy, judging by the state of the tin worm visible. Stay lucky. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Alan L200
@@GrandadPunchy It will all be filmed Alan. I'm making a video on me attempting to get the car back on the road but also making individual videos if a certain task needs doing. I know the suspension has snapped at the front so that will be a video in itself.
Great video! My spouse's Focus has the battery fitted as the one in the video.. Got interested to watch all about it just because of the fact of where it is located.. Just silly to see it tucked away to deep in the back. Surely though you should not have a need to replace it everyday..😆 Just was curious to see how they actually do it. Thanks for this!👍🏻👍🏻
I'm not 100% sure you need to remove the air box etc, as the battery boxing can be removed once the battery cabling is disconnected (it's tight!) -- it appears Ford may have updated things with the Focus 2.2 model, as the boxing has been changed with a removable front panel. Still fiddly.

Thank you. Engines start really easily but then I think the 1.6 petrol was made by Mazda I heard.

@ Finally, no thing to do with the battery. A preheating spark plug wasn’t working. Thnks bloke.

Same issue with the battery as well.
This is a wonderfully-well-thought-out video - great job and thank you! Also, which socket wrench and extension do you use?
Thank you. Most are Halfords own and some Sealey stuff.

Mine has been ok. Can be quite tricky to find the source of a battery drain. No interior lights being left on? or modified HiFi?
No, as i was found out, drain was from something powerful, battery was warm.

Great to see the first video of the Focus! What are your plans for it? Getting an MOT and sell it?
How is the Mini Cooper diesel doing btw?
