While it’s a lovely piece and because I also enjoy my Z blue Milgauss, I find myself gravitating towards some of the Breitling Super ocean heritages and special edition (Bond and heritage) Seamasters as a compelling better value diver alternatives (than my SD43). I owned the Omega Seamaster 300m No Time To Die, which was beautiful to behold in its shades of brown, great comfort with titanium bracelet, and thinner than normal 300m. Alas, it's gone now, as I couldn't read the time in low light conditions( such as my lounge in the evening, or a restaurant) which bugged me over time. Replaced with 14060m Sub, which gives me retro vibes and modern movement. Likely to get me another 300m, but in white on rubber as a beater. To be clear, don't think you will be disappointed owning either.

I bought a white SMP on rubber as I felt I probably should have one. I kept it in the rotation for just over 18 months during which time a desire for a black watch lead me to the Captain Cook Ceramic from Rado. Despite being a much lower spec watch, the CC moved me in a way that the SMP never really did and so the SMP has left the building while the CC looks set for a long and happy home alongside an Oris Upcycle for those alternative dive duty days. I agree that the Sub now denotes someone wanting to buy a Rolex, rather than wanting to buy a great tool watch, which is a bit of a shame really.

Have previously owned the 1861 Speedy and an Aqua Terra... but i really hope they can create a watch similar in proportions to the new black bay 54...a diver which is 37-39mm and around 11mm thick would be incredible... as things stand, many of their watches are just too thick and chunky...i would also love a solid case back with the waves on the back, like the old Bond seamasters...

Man, if you had to choose one the Sub wins the versatility award. It’s so function built in design it’s hard to say no. However, best for me is always vintage with those. And pre-coaxial Seamasters are a joy to wear. Those cases are so thin and with the SS bezel variations you really have stunning piece.
I say 5513 with WG dial markers and an early 2000s Seamaster are gives you joy in every way! Plus ease of servicing ;-)

I broke the pearl pip off my ceramic submariner recently. I’ve had my submariner for around 5 years in total, I daily wear it as a equipment mechanic. So I brought it in for service and felt naked without a watch which led me to buy a grey and blue omega seamaster 300… ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Runs about +1 second a day, it’s nice looking, I love the bracelet and the adjustability. For a watch that is a few thousand LESS than my submariner the seamaster punches in pretty high. I'm not even remotely excited about the sub, hardly think about it, and the day I get the call will be just like any other regular Tuesday. I'll likely go get it, but I already feel like it will be sold within 2 months. I tried on both and bought the Sub. I've always wanted a Submariner and was happy to have been able to purchase a 126610LV from my AD a year ago. It is a stunning watch, very iconic, incredibly robust, very comfortable to wear, amazingly accurate and it gets noticed more than any other watch I've owned in my 55 years of collecting (that can be good and bad). My pal bought a NTTD Omega and does not like it - he said the bezel is difficult to turn and he has trouble telling the time in certain lighting due to the skeleton hands. He now regrets his decision and wishes he had bought a Sub.

As an owner of multiple Omegas, i’d pick the Sub over the SMP anyday. The Sub looks more classy and easier to dress up. Its thinner and the bracelet is more comfy. I own the 2531.80 and 2220.80 wave dial Seamaster. It was the 2541.80 (Golden eye) aged 10 that started my collection hobby. I had the 210.90.42 (NTTD) Seamaster but did not ‘bond’ with it at all. Which was a shame as I’m a massive bond fan. I also had the Sub 114060. It was too much on my wrist. It felt soulless and just there. Annoying me at how shiny and glitzy it was. If I was to ever buy another Sub it would hands down be the 14060M 2-liner. I like the new 60th release with the lollipop nod to the Spectre watch, the animated case-back but not the 60 on the bezel. I get it’s the 60th, just not for me. I not long ago purchased the Green Dial Seamaster and I have to say it’s the best watch I’ve ever owned. I absolutely love it. Highly recommend getting hands on with one, it’s sublime. 🤩

I want a 14060m 2-line too. Too bad they got so expensive in the last 3 years (like everything else). I really wanted a 5512/5513 but given the price difference the 14060 is the next best option and the 5-digit models are peobably the best option if you want a more vintage look and feel but without the drawbacks of a vintage watch.
Same goes for the GMT 16710. Way nicer than the new ones. That being said, I’m currently waiting on Rootbeer that costs only a little more than a nice 16710. It’s hard to justify getting a 5-digit model for the same price as a “newer, better” model that has 5-years warranty on top of that. Still, i have trouble warming up to the bew subs.

I still own a well-worn Rolex SD and Sub from the late '80s. Today I wear a Scurfa. I've also bought Rolexes knowing full well I'd flip it for a profit. I’ll take the omega Seamaster professional over the Rolex every time. I’m always gonna want it on a bracelet though, I prefer the omega bracelets over the Rolex, with only the Jubilee, being the exception. I’ve owned both and IMO the omega edges out the Rolex and every category and for half the price.(i’m watching this video for a second time because I’ve decided to purchase the Seamaster professional 300 with the white dial.

Since I could not care less about James Bond, I find difficult to justify the difference in price between this special edition Seamaster 300M and the standard. In other words, my head tells me that it is too expensive. Regarding the Submariner, it was my grail, so when I bought it, it waa my heart taking. 🤣.

" A little bit of a gimmick" is a little bit of an understatement. An animation of a movie character on the caseback! Really? I'd feel like a sad arse putting this thing on my wrist. The Seamaster 300M has a lot of potential but it is still overdesigned and does not have a professional feel. First, that wave pattern needs to be sent to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. Then it needs non-skeleton hands on it. And any juvenile Bond references need to be shot to bits with a Walther PPK. And then we'd be getting there. Not before.
