Just to let you know, I really like how you do your episodes. Everything is great and well documented. I can imagine it's hard to short all the video down to 20 somewhat minutes. I wouldn't mind longer even. High quality right here! Props to you Amanda!

I just finally moved to an adv bike a couple months ago, so I'm still a bit nervous hitting dirt roads without someone there to help if I fall and hurt myself. I'm not up to doing along road like that solo yet, but videos like this are inspiring me to start conquering my fears at least on shorter and more local roads for now!

I have been looking at a Motorcycle recovery System(MRS) for just that reason. They give you a 5 to 1 ratio for lifting and pulling. They weigh like 2.2 lbs and are fairly compact. If it can pull a Ural up a grade the it ought to be able to handle a lighter machine quite well.

You could also ride an ADV bike just for the comfortable ride that they give you 💡 (which I do)

Good tires that perform well in the dirt help a lot. The rest is just practice. Your comfort zone will grow quickly. Riding with a group (or just a buddy) is great for safety.

The thing that gave me more confidence off road is actually a helmet com system. The. At the very least I have hands free calling even if I'm pinned.

Great job Amanda. Big Bend: my favorite place in America. One of those love it or hate it places. No middle ground. The wind is epic but can make rough days and nights. Hope you got to enjoy some clear night sky and still regret missing you when our paths so nearly crossed. I've been to BBNP 14 times, still not enough though it is a bit over-run now. My first few visits (early '70s) there was no asphalt, none, in the park. the best roads were then like Old Ore Road now. You are ONE TOUGH LADY! A byproduct of growing up on the ranch with the most beautiful pasture in America.... BTW, be glad you did not do the Old River Road... much, much worse...

  • @speedfinder1
    @speedfinder1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Watching your struggles across the rougher sections, I was reminded of the groups of American settlers moving West in covered wagons. They were in search of a better life, most of their journeys went unrecorded and they were not likely to have been as well prepared as the people in the movies. Good Job Amanda! You are the embodiment of the American spirit of adventure, that restless wanderlust! 😊😊

I see there's still some good people floating around this rock. I was glad to see those guys help you pick up your bike those two times.
You must have some good karma working around you! Stay safe out there!

You’re such an inspiration, Amanda! Totally amazed by your true love of both riding and the outback. Solo in the desert land… wow! Someday, i’ll try to emulate you up here in northeastern Quebec. The taiga to toundra riding should be as an elation as Texas desert seems to you. Continue dancing under the sun; that’s true life.

I couldn't have watched this week's video at a better time. I was taking a longish solo ride and fell on a gravel shoulder. I dusted myself off, picked myself up, started all over again. Happened to have a bottle of water and rag in my carrying case (I have a Honda Navi), washed off the road rash and made my way to the Walgreens for additional first aid supplies 😅. Anyway, I was so proud of overcoming this obstacle but worn out. Amanda, you inspire me on so many levels - seeing you overcome your own obstacles of trail wash-outs and high winds made me feel less alone in my fall. Thank you for being you ❤️❤️❤️

Wow, you rocked it!! I would try it on the XT225 DS bike, but not on my Triumph T100. I did a road similar to that in Colorado by myself on the Triumph, but it wasn't quite as rocky and narrow. I loved watching how you picked up your bike alone, I need to practice that myself. Great job, definitely inspiring.

Man O Man, Amanda, you've got more energy and spirit than I do. That's for sure. I'm an old guy now, but even in my younger days, I'd have found this ride pretty difficult. Your bike has given you a lot of good miles.
I'm more of a road-rider, but I'm really enjoying you tackling the trails.
I don't know you, but I'm awfully proud of you.
    peace, and stay safe.

Well done Amanda! I have no desire to try that on my 500x, but I remember back in the day (90's) I would tear that type terrain up effortlessly on my Honda XL600 dual purpose...the right bike makes exploring that stuff so much easier and fun (funner ;).

Oh yeah, that was awesome. Grew up in that kind of country. I've either walked, ridden horseback, driven or rode and borrowed dirt bike and owned a '73 trials bike, Suzuki 125 early in my experience base. I love the memories. This brought some of that back except I would ride cattle trails and just native soils because I know my country like the the back of my hand. Our valley is about 75 miles southeast to northwest and 252 miles at it's widest. I currently ride an Electra Glide Classic but have been considering purchasing a Pan America for my 68th birthday this year. I'd love to see some of the same type of country you just showed us. It's never to late! I would have danced a little two step myself. Thanks!

Tell OnXoffroad that it pays to sponsor your channel. Because of it, I've steered two people to them. I only ride street so I don't use it myself but one guy likes to rock hunt around old mines and the other is retired and rides side-by-side with his other retired neighbors. They both really appreciate the clearly marked private and BLM land. Some of the Rangers here aren't very forgiving. Thanks Amanda.

Big Bend is a fantastic area to explore. So glad you made it a part of your trip. A good friend of mine and I made the trip out there in March and had a really great time riding the roads. On my bike? Absolutely not! I tried taking my big Versys 1000 (with my sport touring tires) down a deep sandy wash and it took an hour to go four miles. Luckily, I only dropped it once and didn't break anything expensive.
On a dirt bike, or an appropriate dual sport or lightweight adv bike, maybe. Not by myself, but I'm very inexperienced off-road. For now, I'll do my trail riding vicariously through you.
I love that there are so many wonderful people around whose first instinct is to pull over and help. Even though you're traveling solo, you don't have to struggle all alone as long as you're willing to accept help.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter in this amazing adventure!

Not gonna do it on a 36 year old Goldwing, though!!! Having driven Old Ore north all the way to Ernst Tinaja, you did a great job!!! I think my bike dropped just WATCHING you navigate it. There's so much more to see out there, but you definitely had a good sampling.

Great video! I'm not sure if I'd do that road solo, still learning off road techniques but it would be fun with a group of friends.

Huge props for tackling that very sketchy "road" with a mid-weight rig on not-so-off-road tires. GoPro doesn't do justice to the inclines. Kudos also to the coincidental strangers who helped you out. onX Offroad looks like a very helpful app and program.

Amanda, you are simply "Amazing". As the saying goes, life is an adventure or it's nothing at all. Thanks for sharing.

Not on my Road King lol. Reminds me of trails we used to ride on dirt bikes and I did have a 73 Honda CL 350 converted to sort of scrambler used to ride on them.

Awesome video Amanda, wonderful camera work and integrating the On X Offroad maps works really well. Would I try those roads? Yes I'd give it a go, would I drop the bike a million times? Yes I would, but Life is too short not to try 👍
